Super Smash Bros.

So first off:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgmC56ndgeg

The poster child of the Generation 1 starters and the most "fighter" capable of the Generation 6 starters are playable. No more Pokemon Trainer to bring Charizard down!

Speaking of, there are no more transformations. This basically means that Zero Suit Samus and Sheik are now their own separate characters. This is excellent because now the characters will have a full move list and gone is the button combination to select either of them from the start, ala Brawl.

For all the Yoshi fans, he's back too.

For the 3DS version, there's a Multiplayer Mode called "Smash Run." It sounds like a treasure-hunt type of multiplayer where players will compete for stat boosts and so forth for eventual battles between fellow competitors. There have been older games that had such a multiplayer "mode" to them, though I'm a bit skeptical on how well this mode could play out for Smash Bros.

Otherwise, the gist of online multiplayer for both the 3DS and Wii U versions comes down to two distinct forms. With friends, you'll decide what modes and what rules you'll make for items and level. Basically, online should be similar to local with playing with friends. Against "others," you'll have two different modes: For Fun or For Glory.

To the point, "For Fun" is basically typical Smash Bros whereas "For Glory" is "No Items, Fox Only, Final Destination," but technically you'll pick whatever character you want (like Marth) and levels will have a "Final Destination" layout instead of their usual form.

EDIT: If I had to take a wild guess why the 3DS version is this summer and the Wii U game will be in winter, I'd venture to say that the Wii U version would overshadow the handheld game. If I had to pick one, it'd be the home console game. If there's going to be months between now, I'll probably try out the handheld version.

But there's also a lot more too (i.e. Move Lists) if you didn't want the short-n-sweet of it.

I wonder how many teenagers are going to go through puberty while playing this game. It seems like Samus' suit gets tighter and tighter each game while her boobs get bigger. If I were 13, Id probably wank to it, so Im not complaining.

Then again, pornography was very hard to come by back when I was a teen with no internet access or older brother whom to steal porn from. Nowadays it's free and ondemand for anyone. You really dont need to jack it to these sort of things anymore.

Unless you enjoy that sort of thing. Thats cool.

My only beef with Samus is that ever since the Zero Suit, her design has gotten more and more generically anime.

Though I am also one of those people who greatly preferred it when palette limitations gave her green hair, if only because blonde hair/blue eyes is the female equivalent of a white male in his late 20s with brown hair and a 5 o'clock shadow.

I've never minded the Zero Suit, namely because a powerful and confident woman can wear something form-fitting. The issue the naysayers will blame the Zero Suit on is that it gives artists the opportunity to alter Samus's figure. In all the Prime games, I've never seen her as "sexualized" but just a regular woman. Though, there's a fanbase that believes Samus should be ripped like an Amazonian.

Now, Other M is... I never finished and haven't been inclined to finish. Not because of the aesthetics, but it doesn't play like Metroid. Zero Suit Samus wasn't an issue, but the above has got me thinking it over. It's technically not Metroid, but Super Smash Bros., but those proportions! Sakurai may have given her rocket heels to compensate her upper body mass!

I hope you've all kept your GameCube controllers. Why?

GCN Controller Adapter for Wii U!

The one thing I was unsure of was if I could get use to the Pro controller for SSB Wii U. Seems I don't have to worry, and neither would my friends get stuck with a Wiimote. You know, this might be a good chance for Nintendo to finally offer "GameCube Classics" on the Wii U.

I'll double post, because I seriously did not think it would happen.

We were definitely going to get fighter announcements, but very few people chose Lady Palutena. There was a rumor all the way back in January, but it wasn't very believable at the time.

Just to make this a little longer, the Mii FIghter is a neat addition. I doubt it'll be a popular main, but like in Mario Kart it's a fun idea.

Little Mac's carpooling buddy, Captain Falcon, returns to Smash to show even more people his moves.

Honestly, I'm surprised they picked Lucina over Chrom (as I'd have figured Chrom could be a middle ground between the nimbler Marth and hard hitting Ike), but there does exist the possibility that he might still be a separate character or an alternate costume.

I don't think Tharja is nearly important or popular enough to make the cut over main protagonist characters, which seems to be the general rule of thumb when it comes to the roster.

I mean, yeah, she's got figures and statues and stuff, but that's all pretty much all about her position as a fanservice/fetish fuel/sexy character more than anything, I think.

I should really get around to playing Fire Emblem: Awakening. It rarely goes on sale for a good price, and if it does it usually sells out fast.

From what I can see from the trailer footage, Lucina does appear similar to Marth, though she might be like how Roy played in Melee. Slower, but with some power attacks. This is all an assumption, but we can see her use Counter in the big showoff with Ike and Marth. Her and Robin could be the middle ground characters for Fire Emblem, where Ike is heavy and Marth is the agile fighter.

Also, Sakurai wanting to get some of that female demographic in Smash.

So uh, rumor has it now that the dog from Duck Hunt is going to be in the roster.  I really hope that's a hoax because that would be the dumbest character choice in the history of Smash Bros.  There is not a gamer alive who remembers that dog fondly, let alone wishes to play as him.

Ah, but think of how many people would like to play against him!
