CorgiShinobi
I'm thinking of getting it. It's the price of one current gen game and I stopped buying Virtual Console games years ago given that Nintendo didn't have a proper account system. So long as this thing gets power, it'll let you play the games. It's basically Nintendo's "Best of NES" tiny emulator box for sale. Maybe if this does well, there could be a SNES variant, but honestly if anyone wants access to any game of any given console's library, then emulator. If you love having hardware, you can get nice used consoles. Classic games will cost you a pretty penny, hence mainly collectors go for physical copies. Mister Jack
I feel like if anything, they'll sell additional NES boxes with 30 different games loaded up on it. Nintendo Classic Mini 2 or whatever.

Mister Jack
Good news for Metroid fans. Do you feel burned by that terrible looking Federation Force game? Why not download Another Metroid 2 Remake instead? It got DMCA'd by Nintendo, sure, but that doesn't mean you can't still find it if you are willing to look for it. TheFlyingGerbil
I just found out how old Mario is. Not what I thought. How old do you all think he is?
deanb
Assuming his death and immediate reincarnation are canon he can't be much more than a few seconds old at any given time. But assuming not, I'd guess early 40s?
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I'd guess 40-ish.
TheFlyingGerbil
That's what I thought too, but when Miyamoto created Mario, he said he didn't want to put any restrictions on him, and apart from deciding he is 24-25, they didn't fix anything else down. In a Smash Bros Trophy description, it says he is 26, so either way, he's a lot younger than I'm guessing most people think.
FMW
Okay, we're in October now. And the NX is gonna be in... March? So that's 5 months from now? I know Nintendo be crazy, but at some point you need to stop giving them credit for being crazy and assume that if they show nothing they have got nothing. NX is gonna be delayed.
Saturnine Tenshi
Here's hoping it's for the best.
TheMightyEthan
Honestly, as long as it doesn't mean a delay for Zelda, the longer they delay the NX the more likely I am to ultimately get one. I'm actually starting to dig the idea of a combination handheld/home console more and more. It would be so nice to be able to bring all my games with me wherever I go, but then still be able to play it on the TV when I'm at home. *Edit - I've already done a teensy bit of that with PS4 remote play, and playing Dragon Age Inquisition from my parents house was amazing, but there's enough latency that only slow or turn-based games are really playable, and it would be nice to not have to have a good internet connection to be able to do it. CorgiShinobi
The NES Classic, much like the GCN adapter for Smash Wii U, is a scarce Nintendo product this holiday season. On one hand, you could say Nintendo is wanting to make sure they're not in over their head by sending out too many units. On the other hand, you'd think they would realize this is a gold mine. I'm doing some part time work and I had people calling us for the NES Classic. I didn't think we would have it as we only have those Genesis and Atari flashback consoles, but the store manager said we should be carrying it. He just doesn't know when we'll actually get the units... and how many.
TheMightyEthan
Nintendo intentionally restricts stock on major products to build up hype.
deanb
My step-mum is pretty hyped for it as an xmas present to herself. Hoping it's not out of stock by then or she'll be kinda bummed.
CorgiShinobi
Nintendo already built up hype for the NES Classic months in advance at conventions and online. I think this is truly because Nintendo wanted to see the demand for it and then have the proper stock out for December this Christmas. Whatever the case, this is backfiring on Nintendo because people are pissed they can't get their hands on something as simple as this little device. If you take a gander at the Amazon page, the NES Classic has almost 3,000 ratings with 89% of them being 1 Star. It has only been a day, but already people are as upset and are having flashbacks to when the first Amiibo debuted. It's another scalper's paradise right here. TheMightyEthan
Sources are saying the Switch is going to get a version of Pokemon Sun and Moon (currently codenamed Stars). Now I'm back to wanting a Switch. Though it's not supposed to be coming out until next Fall, and Zelda has also been delayed out of the launch window. TheFlyingGerbil
hopefully they will bring out a Pokemon bundle for the 2017 holiday season, Zelda and Mario will already be out so it will hopefully be tempting for a lot of on-the-fencers.
Mal
Indeed it would make some kid near me sad over Christmas since their parent couldn't find a Switch with either Pokemon, Zelda or Mario. Poor kid, poorer me if I don't have a job by then...
deanb
AM2R n Poke Uranium have been removed from the "fan creation" category of the game awards. Nintendo is a sponsor of the game awards. Hmmm.

I think I'm right there with you. I never had any interest in the NES Mini as it was a touch before my time, the Super Nintendo though? Oh boy. Here's hoping it looks more like the PAL SNES than the US one.
deanb
Told my step-mum her NES Mini was a collectors item now. She bemoaned that the only good game on it was Super Mario Bros.
