One of the big Kickstarter games. The Fallout predecessor.

Anywho an article from RPS

I think the UI customisation looks neat. The description stuff in the text box is also nice in it promotes doing certain stuff, but could also control the flow of the game a bit too much (obviously up to you to ignore it.

I got this game for Christmas cause I was really excited about it. All I can say is don't pay sixty dollars for early access; it's broken as fuck. I'll let you know when it's fixed. It shows a lot of potential during the short time it does work though. Very much like the original Fallouts in how the outcome of any given situation is often heavily dependent on your base stats and character creation. Wasteland, however, spreads fewer stat points over a much larger set of options. You usually end up with much more specialized characters and teams because of this, and I assume that's gonna make it much more replayable.

It's released today, right?

Anyone playing?

I plan to jump on into the land of waste later this evening.

ETA:

I  bought the $50 physical box...and it seems those of us who ordered physical copies won't be getting the BIG AWESOME BOX till...sometime later? I'm not too bent out of shape, as long as they don't take 6 months to get it to me ;)

Same here...only spent about 2-3 hours in it so far, but man...it's exactly what I wanted.

My wife, who likes mostly fantasy/d&d rpgs, watched me play and said, "Ah..so, your guy that uses the shotgun is like your mage with an A.O.E spell!" bahahahah. Yes. Yes, he is.

Shotgun = cone of cold, 'nades = fireballs.

The further you get, the more you encounter enemies with attacks that work like cRPG magic attacks. The first time I blundered into such enemies, they TPK'd me in a single round.

I am still loving this game, of course. I am pleasantly surprised by the balance inXile was able to strike between the speed of each level up with the relatively few skill points you get. Even if I save skill points between levels, I always feel like my characters are constantly improving. At least up through the mid-teens, where I am now.

I tried Wasteland 2 out but my computer couldn't handle the Citadel thing sadly so I have to wait, but omg what an impressive game :)

I hate when a game I reaaallly wants to play makes me realize that it'll cost me more a couple hundred bucks to play said game...

Hope you're able to upgrade your system, it is truly an excellent game.

I had to google why 32bit would matter...then I remembered one of the reasons I went to 64bit. Ram. Now I got 12GB. Ain't no 32bits gonna hold me back now!

That's the date the crowdfunding goes live on Fig. Coming to PC, Mac, Linux, PS4 and XO. Speaking of which, this should be moved to multiplat. (ffs, Ethan!)

Also, sounds like they've teamed up with the Stasis guys for the art/art direction. So, that's an interesting choice. That game looks pretty damn good.

Some more details:

What is Wasteland 3?

  • A party-based role-playing game, with a renewed focus on our trademark complex story reactivity and strategic combat.
  • By including vehicles, environmental dangers, and a revamped, more fluid action system, we are evolving on Wasteland 2's deep tactical turn-based combat and unique encounter design.
  • Play by yourself or with a friend in story-driven synchronous or asynchronous multiplayer. Choices open up (or close off) mission opportunities, areas to explore, story arcs, and tons of other content.
  • Your Ranger Base is a core part of the experience. As you help the local people and improve your Ranger Base, quests and narrative will force you to make decisions on how to lead.
  • The game will be set in the savage lands of frozen Colorado, where survival is difficult and a happy ending is never guaranteed. Players will face difficult moral choices and make sacrifices that will change the game world.
  • Wasteland 3 will feature a deep and engaging story utilizing a newly-revamped dialog tree system from the celebrated writers of Torment: Tides of Numenera
  • Simultaneously releasing to Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Looks like moving to Fig didn't have much of an impact on their chances at successful crowdfunding. The campaign launched today and it's already a little over 75% funded. Seems like a sure thing already.

I would've been really tempted to get in for a free copy of Stasis but the 25$ tier is sold out, for some reason. :/

About 50% of the funding was already in place (from private investors; I think they get a cut of the profits or something else, rather than a backer reward) when the public campaign started the other day, to be fair.

Note that it is scheduled for release in frickin late 2019, too.

Fig seems like a very interesting platform for early backing of game projects. I'll be looking into its structure and how investment works a little more heavily this weekend, as I'm quite interested in the types of laws and regulations that would apply to Fig projects.

Ah, ok. It was already pretty high when I first checked so I was wondering if they had some early big investors or what. The late 2019 date isn't too surprising, though. It's clearly in the very early stages. They refer to all the art as being "prototype screenshots" and the gameplay trailer really looks like more of a pre-rendered proof of concept than actual gameplay.

Also, did you follow the whole legal thing surrounding the investment aspect of Fig? They only managed to clear that very recently, so until like last week Psychonauts 2 still couldn't receive the investment half of its funding.
