I've started watching it. It's a bit hit and miss right now. I like some of the characters and bits but there's also lots of bad dialogue and shaky acting. DD and JJ had those issues somewhat yet tended to bring it all together well but I'm still worried it'll be like those where the season is just a few episodes too long and the episodes don't need to be that long.

Plus, I can't quite put my finger on it but Luke Cage doesn't quite feel like the same person from JJ.

Other observations:

- The councilwoman is the grieving mother from Civil War

- Love the little detail in the texting where the guy starts typing "Meet" but it suggests "New" before he finishes.

- Frank Whaley! I remember that guy.

- They're trying to make the Avengers stuff more colloquial but it just sounds more fake as a result. "The Incident" and not calling them the Avengers or by their superhero names.

Just finished it. I thought it was solid. The whole not naming the Avengers felt cute, afterwards they namedrop Captain America and others. The Incident is inline with what it's been called in SHIELD and other Marvel shows.

Over all, I liked it a lot. The pace is definitely different than JJ and Daredevil but I think that's good. It's a show with something to say and it doesn't shy away from that. If you're a right wing white guy from the States, you might feel uncomfortable, but I think that's good.

I don't think the villain(s) were up to the level of Killgrave or Kingpin but I might like Luke as a character more than Matt or Jessica.

I'd rate it equal with JJ and maybe just a notch below DD. Bring on Iron Fist and then... The Defenders!!
These shows might be stronger come Phase 2 (by that I mean, post-Defenders), so they don't have to keep coming up with silly reasons for Rosario to not call up Matt Murdoch or Jessica Jones when she knows they can help.

I finished watching Luke Cage the other week. I liked it but it wasn't great. It has some interesting things and I like how involved the supporting cast was but it tended to steer far too cheesy in places.

There were some shades of interesting things being explored ("bulletproof nigga") but I fully expected more from that whole thing with the people of Harlem siding with Cage over the police. Like, they'd step in en masse and stop the police at a critical juncture or something more than walking around in "bullethole hoodies" and getting stopped (and possibly shot!) by police.

Also, the "Bye, Felicia" and "Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Willis?" references in one episode was a bit much. :P

I liked that sort of "tragic" backstory with Cottonmouth but it never actually felt like it gelled with the actual incarnation as well as it should and more emphasis was given to the Mama Mabel transformation of the councilwoman.

We get it in April. I'm kinda curious on the "Marvel films hitting Europe first" thing. Oh and he's totally Adam Warlock.(with one L).

edit: Oh he's apparently confirmed as "Ego the Living Planet", but leaving my Adam Warlock thing for the stargate joke. Ego also goes by alias of "nu-Xandar" which leans in to my theory of Xandar being fucked over by Thanos completely to get the Power gem. (in the comics Xandar is pretty much a mass of floating semi-populated planet debris). How Petes mum had it on with a planet we won't know (until April I guess).

edit 2: I completely glossed over the bits at the bottom, but someone has noted it has Sly Stallone in there too.

No as in it's the "how Shield brought him back" is they have a dead Kree they'd extracted some enzymes or whatever from and used that to heal him (and a few others). Oh and then fucked with his brain to make him forget it all. Tahiti is a magical place.

Also a subplot of Season 2 shows how Nick Fury came to have a handy helicarrier in Age of Ultron.
