It's one mightily large "drop" (and one that apart from Antman and Wasp has usually been the premiere market). There's a trillion variety of options and many that the comics themselves present to not have to repeat a name and deal with the branding headache it causes. At least when something like Doom n Prey re-use names they're not literally sequels of each other.

People seem to be leaning on it being "Endgame" though

I'm fairly sure Rooker let slip on the name ages ago (though likely an "older" name now). No doubt they'll announce shortly. (though jesus what a cock-up on scheduling for Marvel to release Captain Marvel trailer n like 24hrs later have focus jumped right back to Avengers 4)

I know we already knew about this movie, but I still wish they'd be a little bit more low-key with their "HEY SPIDER-MAN AND [CENSORED]* AREN'T ACTUALLY DEAD!"

*Censored because that one is only spoiled if you actually watch the trailer, not by the trailer's mere existence like Spider-Man is.

Do we know if this takes place after IW? I would've thought that the post-credits scene for this one would be them returning to school and on the bus Peter sees the ship/circle/thing of doom. :P

That's actually a really cool idea.

I mean, does anyone expect that to actually stick?

No, but they could be less in-your-face about it.

Prediction: the hijinks that undo IW will also cause everyone but a few core Avengers to be unaware IW happened. It may be time travel or other fuckery, but IW will essentially have never happened from everyone's perspective aside from a small group, who may end up dead or non existent themselves in the bargain.

I saw Captain Marvel on Friday. First, I have to say, it was my first time seeing a film in IMAX, which was cool as hell.

Also, the movie was pretty darn good. I think it ranks among the upper echelon of Marvel origin films, with Black Panther. Brie and Samuel L were great. The de-aging on Mr. Jackson was incredible. Same with Coulson who I could have used more of, one of my few nitpicks. The Skrulls were awesome and it was so cool to see them on film.

I can't wait to see her with the Avengers ...next month?!

Anywho, as per tradition:

James Gunn has been reinstated as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director!

Kinda surprising to see them backtrack after such a long time but I'm really happy about this. Guardians is my favorite MCU sub-series and Gunn's firing pretty much killed any interest I had in the next one.

Word on the street is Disney hired him back months ago but delayed announcing it until the fox merger was finalized so the right-wing noise machine that got him canned in the first place couldn't essentially petition Trump to make trouble for the merger. The rumor is sadly plausible in this fallen world.

Captain Marvel was super good. At first I thought there was a continuity error with

Spoiler

the tesseract, but it turns out my memory combined Tony and Howard Stark, and actually there was no error.

Somehow it managed to be a smaller-scale movie (in terms of the number of combatants/factions/whatever involved) without feeling like it was smaller scale. I felt like Black Panther in particular had that problem, where it had what was presented like massive battles involving whole armies, but really it was like 20 people in a field. The main driving force of the movie was the character rather than the plot, which is hard to do well in what is ultimately an action movie, but it managed to pull that off as well.

Super pumped for Endgame, even more than I already was.

I watched Thor Ragnarok last night on the old Netflix. I've come to the conclusion that is peak Marvel and the best MCU film. Everything about it is great. The score? Great. The humour? Great. The action? Great. It got rid of all the baggage of earlier Thor films, like Natalie Portman, the One Broke Girl, the Warriors Three, the goddamn fucking dutch tilts. Instead bringing in Val and Jeff Goldblum and the Hulk. Thor telling Bruce "sun's getting real low" over and over again just kills me. The use of colour is just great, the entire thing just looks awesome. Taika Watiti is the man.

EDIT: I DIDN'T EVEN MENTION KORG! "Piss off, ghost!" is the best goddamn one liner in the MCU. Don't @ me.

So in 24hrs I'll be in the cinema lobby queuing up for Endgame.

What's everyone's predictions?

Spoiler

I reckon we're gonna end up with Steve trapped in the past. Set up with Peggy just growing old, might end on like old-Steve meeting up with the team n "we won in the end" or something like that.

I'm feeling quantum realm might end up a red herring of sorts time travel yes but not quantum realm stuff I reckon. I think we're gonna get Vision back in some way. Oh most likely have Lang as the viewer surrogate for the start so they can have someone they have to explain the last year/however long to.

We know valkyrie is in, but not sure hugely in what capacity except maybe leading the cosmic side of the "rebellion" against Thanos.

Best theory I've seen in the "backdoor safety" theory of going back to when they know the stones were about (so Battle of New York had the mind n space near each other, Wan has always had access to the time stone in the sanctum, and (in theory) the Reality and Power stone were with the collector for an age, just leaving Soul stone but that's been fine on Vormir), then fucking with them in some way to put a safety reverse in place so they can't properly trigger together. Which'd be the point you get the bright white in Infinity War, which from a film making perspective gives you a nice hard out to cut to something else such as the stones not working. Thor is then in prime position to finish off Thanos.

I'll slightly hate it a bit if that does turn out to be the case.

But yeah what are yours.
