Hot Heart
Cumberbatch's American accent makes him sound like Dr. House... which makes sense because of the Sherlock thing.... oh my god... Â Civil War review from Empire. Yesssss. Cannot wait. http://www.empireonline.com/movies/captain-america-civil-war/review/
CorgiShinobi
Gonna be interesting to see them wedge this into the Arther C Clarke "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" route they took with Thor for the MCU. Â Doctor Strange should just be magic and that would fit into the MCU. The first Thor film to me set up Asgard as "magic + science = gods" angle. Even Thor would probably be startled to see himself forcibly astral projected.
TheMightyEthan
They're definitely trying to go with the "it's not actually magic, just inconceivably advanced science" angle with Asgard. Â That doesn't work quite as well if the magic is derived from eastern mysticism.
deanb
I've heard it'll be "quantum". I don't much care tbh, same effect n all regardless of how you wave it around. Be somewhat interesting given technically Scarlet Witch is a magic user, though that's also put down in the comics to her affecting probabilities, which I guess is "quantum" too, though it sort of flip-flops a bit in the comics since she's a mutant and mutant power of magic would be a bit weird I guess. In the film she's been shown as telekinetic n telepathic than magic.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I don't really care either. Â As long as they can handwaive it as "this is an innate ability that humans just have to unlock" then it's no harder to swallow than mutants and Inhumans and stuff, so I'm good with it. Hot Heart
I heard that the Doctor Strange stuff will tie into "Darkforce" elements which have also featured in Agents of SHIELD (there's the guy who goes after Amy Acker) and in Agent Carter (although, it's been labelled "zero matter" there). It's sort of magic/alternate dimensions stuff.
deanb
I've started on AoS again today actually, back up to where I got to last time (lass with the eyeball camera)....wait no if the upcoming episode has some Extremis folks in I think I remember watching something about that. I guess knowing what's sort of upcoming with related to the Winter Soldier stuff has me interested.
Hot Heart
So I don't know if you guys have seen the "Tweet me" thing that the Captain America account has been doing on Twitter, but it's kinda cool. Â Basically, using this tweet, you can declare yourself #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan and then it generates a reply to you with a video. Â So if you vote Team Cap, you might get Cap himself welcoming you or you might get a very enthusiastic Falcon. Â Vote Team Iron-Man and you might get a grateful Vision, or perhaps a disapproving Ant-Man. Â And if you have your real name in your handle or username, there's a chance you get a slightly more personalised one. Â Anyway, I thought it was an amusing little thing. You can tell they've just grabbed a few of the actors and sat them down to improvise and record a load of little snippets in one go, but it's fun. No actual Iron-Man, RDJ himself though...
TheMightyEthan
Cap's not angry, he's just disappointed.
danielpholt
So maybe I'm crazy, but I can't help but feel they've done a bad job of telling us what they're all fighting for. I know they need to keep plot points to a minimum (and the marketing has been pretty great so far), but how the hell am I supposed to pick a side when I have no idea what they're fighting for? deanb
So from the government/publics perspective the Avengers were involved in full or in part in: - Trashing a university (Incredible Hulk) - Trashing chunks of New York (Incredible Hulk) - Trashing more chunks of New York (The Avengers) - Building a world police force (Age of Ultron) - Dropping a city from the sky (Age of Ultron) - Trashing an African city (Age of Ultron) - Trashing three heli carriers and chunks of DC (Winter Soldier) - Creating Ultron (Age of Ultron) - Trashing a New Mexico town (Thor) - Trashing London (Dark World) - Assassinating many people over the decades (Winter Soldier) - Involved in a secretive agency (Winter Soldier) - An ex-KGB assassin (Winter Soldier)  From Iron Mans perspective he: - Created Iron Legion as a policing force - Created Ultron...indirectly leading to - Dropping a city out the sky (along with the sub plot of nearly nuking the world) - Developed the technology that allowed a portal to be opened above New York  Which he super regrets now and totally agrees they should be held accountable and generate more trust in the Avengers n such.  From Captain Americas perspective he: - Fought Hydra in WWII - Fought them again in present - Wants his Hydra brainwashed BFF back.  And he's like "why should I work for a corrupt government again, after all the shit with Hydra? We're doing the right thing and I know it".
Hot Heart
They haven't really used it in trailers, but there's a clip that slightly contextualises things here. Â
deanb
Vision in casual wear is kinda weird (though I imagine is done cos it makes that scene oh so much cheaper)
Hot Heart
It's been mentioned that his character has some sort of arc to do with dealing with his "human-ness" so I guess regular clothes is part of that.
TCP
Oh my god Marvel needs to stop showing clips from this movie, I feel like we've seen half of it already.
TheMightyEthan
You could just not watch them? That's the first one I've seen.
Hot Heart
From what I've heard they really haven't shown a lot.
TheFlyingGerbil
I've not seen any clips as I have no interest (not enjoyed any of the marvel films I've seen), but i feel like I've been hearing about this bloomin' civil war film for what feels like well over a year possibly two, to the point where I actually thought it had been out a long while. deanb
Inhumans has shuffled off the release schedule. Basically adding in Antman and The Wasp with Spider-man has expanded their plate a bit. It's not canned, just likely a Phase 4 thing now. Obviously some plan for it since its part of AoS.
TheMightyEthan
It was always scheduled for after Infinity War Part 2, which as I understand it marks the end of phase 3.
deanb
They messed that up a bit recently, Antman is after Age of Ultron but marks the end of Phase 2 (Civil War is the first film in Phase 3), InHumans would have ended up the same, after the main "Avengers" film but marking the end of Phase 3. deanb
Â A look at Kevin Feige, current head of Marvel Studios and main force behind the MCU. Also I'd have figured it his name was pronounced like siege.
Hot Heart
Until I heard the Whedon commentary on the first Avengers film, I thought it was pronounced "phage" or "phige". Totally was not expecting the actual pronunciation.
Mr. GOH!
It's a German name, so of course it's a hard 'g'.
