madbassman39
When I first heard they were doing this I knew very little of Guardians of the Galaxy except for Drax and Star Lord. I seriously thought it was a bad idea to expand the Marvel CU beyond Earth, because it probably wouldn't sit well. The more I heard about it the more I was getting interested in it. Now, I want this movie to be so good. I want this to be our next Sci-Fi epic, hopefully (though doubtfully) one that can bring the feeling I felt the first time I saw Star Wars. Whether its going to shake the foundation of science fiction or not, I'm looking forward to this movie. It looks fun and thats what these Marvel movies are all about. deanb
Guardians is going to be interesting. If it does well then it's going to make DC/Warner look like absolute morons with the whole Wonderwoman snafu. For Marvel to take practically unknown comic book characters that include a raccoon and a tree and make it popular and then for Warner try and cram Wonderwoman, an actual known charachter, into a Superman-Batman film instead of having her stand on her own, is going to make em look pretty dumb. Not that every move they make on their self-planted minefield towards Justice League isn't making them look dumb.
TCP
Yeah seems pretty obvious that Marvel will get a Captain/Miss Marvel movie with Carol Danvers as the main protagonist, in theatres before DC figures out what the fuck to do with Wonder Woman. I have a lot of faith in Guardians doing well, it's not that much more out there than a man from an alien planet that swings a giant hammer around to fly. deanb
I think given they now have about 8 Marvel movies under their belt and a TV series that the brand in film is doing pretty well. It could still do with a bit of bolstering here and there, but it's nearing gold dust status to have [MARVEL] at the top of a films name. So Guardians will be in a food place, and they've more faith in their films too so marketing will be pretty pumping as the film comes nearer (it's got 6 months to go, I imagine summer is going to be pretty heavy with trailers and adverts for it. Especially given positive response so far).
Mister Jack
The real difference between Marvel and DC is that Marvel made a long term plan that is probably going to last for at least a couple decades, whereas DC is just now trying to play catch up to Marvel but they're not willing to be patient and do it right. At this point I can't see any way that Batman vs Superman won't be a complete disaster
Hot Heart
Warner could've had Joss Whedon making them a Wonder Woman film years ago. Instead, they gave her to the guy who made Sucker Punch. Whoops. Really, Marvel's strength, I think, comes from Kevin Feige. The dude worked under Laura Shuler Donner, wife of Richard "Superman" Donner, and who was behind the X-Men films, which really updated the superhero film, and he has been involved as a producer in all sorts of superhero films since then. Then it's he who went to these maybe unlikely directors and saw their potential. And, of course, Marvel has a knack for creating blockbusters, which while not always necessarily great, are streets ahead of the other crap being churned out. TheMightyEthan
Am I the only person in the world who liked Sucker Punch?
deanb
Visually it was a pretty great movie. But in most other areas it kinda fell a bit short.
TCP
Sucker Punch was a fantastic trailer, awful movie.
Hot Heart
Well, even regardless of how you feel about the film, I don't see Wonder Woman and that as a match.
Mr. GOH!
Sucker Punch was a fucking travesty on every level. I also wonder what will happen to the Marvel plan as their marquee stars age out of the characters, or otherwise want out of the franchise. The real test for Marvel will be what happens once RDJ leaves.
TCP
Marvel has already said numerous times that they aren't afraid to recast roles. Look at Ed Norton.

madbassman39
I just watched Thor 2. I thought it was pretty great, but it suffers from the same issues that Iron Man 3 suffered from: Where are the rest of the Avengers? I don't care, I can accept the movies as they are without the Avengers all thrown together, but my girlfriend asked that question for both movies. Other than that, I really liked the whole Loki Thor dynamic in the movie, but I hope they don't rely on Loki to be the villain to carry the rest of the films from here on out. TCP
Well, Tony Stark has no more Iron Man suits, Cap/Black Widow/Hawkeye presumably have SHIELD assignments and can't just go help their buddy, and Bruce Banner tries to avoid Hulking out. And obviously none of them were in London for that final fight. Sort of the same deal with Iron Man 3, but my problem with that movie was where the hell was SHIELD?
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I thought it made more sense in Thor 2 than Iron Man 3. At least in Thor 2 it was a short event, so people who didn't know to expect it might not have been able to react and get there before it was over. Presumably Shield was swarming the area after the fact, collecting artifacts and whatnot. But yeah, that's a problem in any comic book type continuity, and you just have to accept it. deanb
It kinda makes sense for both. Keep in mind as far as Iron Man and Shield go, he's not on the greatest of terms given the whole; they don't like him, they shot a nuke at him, working with them nearly killed him, he carries on hacking into their servers. So no red telephone for him. Also Iron Man 3 was up against AIM who do have sort of comparable resources and likely a few infiltration units (and vice versa) that it wasn't ever flagged on Shields end as a "we should intervene". Maybe they didn't care much for president either. On the Thor 2 side: They do spend a fair chunk of it on Asgard and only around half an hour on Midgard/Earth. Shield can't get to Asgard (nor would they care to/want to given they're developing weapons to take on Asgard & co), and might not be overly quick to respond to the attack on Greenwich (though RAF scrambled pretty quick). edit: New Cap America clip http://youtu.be/6k0kkSHiiPE 4 minutes long mind, seems kinda stale tbh, but I guess they might not want to waste the exciting bits. deanb
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=51688 Some photos surfaced showing Not-Magneto's children on the set of Age of Ultron. I assume guy in the silver suit is maybe Ultron but if so that's a very bulky suit.

madbassman39
Although I like the Avenger's version of Quicksilver more than the X-men version based off of pictures, he looks like hes just wearing a long sleve top with pants. May change in post production, but I was hoping for something more along the lines of a single running suit like in the Ultimates comic series. It just looks so functional for someone running really really fast.
Faiblesse Des Sens
It could be their pre-Avengers introduction scene and they get snazzy suits after joining up.
