Mister Jack
Spoiler You know, I'm still not convinced that Loki is really dead. It seems out of character for him to just attack Thanos head on right after watching him stomp Thor's ass. If he was going to make a false oath of loyalty, I feel like he'd go for the long con and wait for Thanos to be vulnerable. Faking his death again and skedaddling while nobody is watching seems much more his speed than trying to stab Thanos of all people while his guard is up. toxicitizen
So, while watching IW I couldn't help but notice how some lines from the trailers happened in completely different context or locations and last night I realized I couldn't remember hearing Thanos' "Fun isn't something you consider when balancing the universe..." line in the actual movie. I ended up rewatching the trailers to see if I noticed anything else and uh... Talk about false advertising! I want my money back!! Seriously, though, this goes beyond stuff getting cut or effects not being final. I mean, Hulk refusing to come out is actually a plot point in the movie! And that Thanos line almost feels out of character after seeing how he was portrayed in the actual movie.
Hot Heart
I mentioned the missing stuff in the Last Good Movie You Saw thread and there's actually a whole bunch of stuff from various trailers that is not used or has a slightly altered take/angle. A lot of it seems like smart editing to keep up the pacing in such a long film, such as cutting out Thor showing off Stormbreaker immediately and instead cutting that scene early and giving him a big entrance. There's also similar stuff with Cap getting a new shield, riding out to the battlefield with T'Challa, etc. Then there's the real misdirection involving not showing certain effects and switching the number of stones actually in Thanos' gauntlet at given points you'd recognise in the final cut (e.g. when Cap holds back the gauntlet, the trailer only shows two instead of five). I do have one question, since she's been missing for a while now... where is Lady Sif?! Don't tell me she just died off-screen

Obviously they wouldn't want to give away that much in a trailer. But I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish by going out of their way to show Hulk in scenes where he's not. Like, hiding some details to keep the surprise is one thing (e.g. not showing Thor's eyepatch in the trailers for either Ragnarok or Infinity War) and just blatantly making shit up for the trailer is another entirely lol. TheMightyEthan
Spoiler If they hadn't shown Hulk in the trailers then people would have noticed Hulk wasn't in any of the trailers, which itself would be a spoiler. I really think this is just an excellent example of how to avoid the "trailers always spoil" issue while still doing a good job of representing the overall gist of the movie.
TCP
I love fake shots in trailers. Give me a whole fake trailer, that would be the best.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, as long as it's representative of the overall feel of the movie, I 100% agree.
toxicitizen
Well, it's certainly better than trailers that give away the entire plot, so I'm not complaining here. But surely there's a better middle ground to be found other than straight up making shit up lol. People would've noticed and speculated but, I mean, that's gonna happen anyway. Mister Jack
The Infinity War writers confirmed something that may not have been obvious in the movie itself. Spoiler Unlike the Infinity Gauntlet comic, using all six Infinity Stones at the same time in the MCU takes a physical toll on the user. A normal human, and probably most people in the universe, would be killed by that much energy being used all at once. Thanos was only able to do it because he's already so powerful even without the gauntlet, but the finger snap practically crippled his left arm, so expect him to be weakened in the second movie. If he tries to use all the stones a second time, it might leave him in an even worse state.
Thursday Next
Something I don't entirely get. Spoiler Is Thanos able to beat Hulk because he has the Power Stone, or because Titans can beat Hulk(s)? Based on the above comment from Jack, was Steve Rogers able to hold Thanos to a stalemate because Thanos has been using the gauntlet loads? Cos I don't think he could go toe to toe with the Hulk. TheMightyEthan
@Thursday Next Maybe it's like Rock, Paper, Scissors? Spoiler Thanos beats Hulk, Hulk beats Cap, Cap beats Thanos
deanb
I'd need to rewatch but when using each stone individually it lights up, and given he started with the power stone, and when getting each new stone he does like to favour that one for a while, he was likely using the power stone in his first battle, and regular titan strength later on since he likely figured he didn't need to be beefing up his power level against meagre mortals. Mister Jack
Spoiler I don't think Thanos was using the power stone against Hulk. I don't recall seeing it light up in either of my viewings, and Thanos has beaten Hulk several times in the comics anyway. He might not be physically stronger than Hulk but he's clearly better trained and has comparable durability.
Thursday Next
I'm not up on my Infinity Stone lore. Do they have passive effects or is it just active?
Mister Jack
To the best of my recollection, the only passive effect of the stones is their absolutely enormous energy output. Unless you're Thanos or a Celestial, simply touching a stone with your bare hands will kill you.
TheMightyEthan
Didn't Cap touch the tesseract? Or Red Skull? I'd expect an Asgardian could touch it too (not saying it would be pleasant, just that it wouldn't kill them). I know it would be death to a normal person.
Mister Jack
Red Skull touched it and he definitely didn't get out unscathed. Spoiler The tesseract is still a case for the stone, so it wasn't direct contact, but I suppose it's possible the different stones have different effects when held by mortals. Pretty sure none of them are pleasant, though.

TCP
Captain Marvel trailer looks dope AF. Also, the rumours/speculation is that Avengers 4 is going to be called Avengers Assemble. Which is a considerably better title than what was being floated around when Infinity War came out, Avengers: End Game.
