TheMightyEthan
it sounds like ghosts will be 720p on xbone while 1080p on PS4. I hope this isn't a trend for xbox one games, no excuse for not having those extra p's in the next generation Well with CoD specifically they always make sure it's locked at 60 fps, whereas other games I'm sure will knock it down to 30 fps if they need to to maintain 1080p resolution. But yeah, Xbone's hardware is significantly lacking as compared to PS4, so I imagine lower graphics will be a trend.

Mr. GOH!
Marvelous. I cannot wait to read the fanboy rants about the resolution discrepancies.
Thursday Next
Digital Foundry are going to have a fucking field day. It'll be like the good old Bioshock side-by-side days all over again. Until people get bored of comparing pixels and jaggies like they did with PS3 / Xbox 360.
Mr. GOH!
I dunno, Arguing that my X is better than your Y never gets old for a great many people.
Hot Heart
I found this an interesting read and sort of related. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-the-secret-developers-what-hardware-balance-actually-means-for-game-creators Would appear that the PS4 is more 'balanced' than the Xbone. TheFlyingGerbil
Apparently several developers have said the difference in power between the two consoles is bigger than the small difference in numbers would suggest. and now that both consoles are basically PCs it is probably really easy for developers just develop for powerful PCs and then slide the dials down a bit for PS4 and a bit more for XO so I think the differences in this generation will be a lot more visible. deanb
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-battlefield-4-next-gen-vs-pc-face-off-preview And now Digital Foundry wades in with a BF4 comparison. And holy hell is the PC way and above the other two.

TheFlyingGerbil
how would the PC version compare with a more realistic PC? It says the CPU, video cards and memory alone cast twice as much as the PS4. e.g. what resolution and setting level will you guys expect to be playing this game at to get 60fps? deanb
I'd take a stab in the dark at it being "High", though if your "realistic PC" is one that costs as much as a PS4/Xbox One then "Potato".

TheMightyEthan
Infinity Ward confirms CoD: Ghosts is running at 720p on Xbone, 1080p on PS4, 60 fps on both. We already know BF4 is 720p on Xbone, 900p on PS4, 60 fps on both. PS4 IS WINNING!
Mal
It's over. Microsoft is finished. Though 900p is kind of odd.
Faiblesse Des Sens
It's over. Microsoft is finished. Though 900p is kind of odd. The 360 had sub-720 resolutions on a lot of games. This is the same thing. Edited October 30, 2013 by Faiblesse Des Sens
deanb
900p is the media point between 720p and 1080p. 1080p is over twice the resolution of 720p, so you'd be asking for quite a lot if expecting 1080p to be the next step up from 720p. This is the same thing. Yeah, for instance Modern Warfare 3 ran at 600p on both PS3 and 360. The console actually output video at whatever resolution you had it set to, but if that was higher than 1024x600 then it was getting upsampled before being pushed out. The same thing here: both consoles will send a 1080p signal out over the wire, but the original rendering occurred at these lower resolutions. Chronixal
It's not really much of a 'war' at this point. The Wii U comes out looking better than the XO purely for not really competing with the other two and doing it's own thing. The XO is currently the one legged man in an ass kicking competition against a giant in size15 boots. TheMightyEthan
I don't even really consider the Wii U to be part of the war.
Chronixal
Never quite understood why it's referred to as a war regardless. You never hear this terminology used in other industries. Edited November 4, 2013 by Chronixal
