Hot Heart
I've not included 2005 in the poll because it was only a month and change for that (and no one will seriously pick it). What would you say has been the best year this generation? I'd say purely games-wise, but if there's other criteria/factors you want to consider then feel free (apps, remakes, ports, ultimate releases, whatever). So as not to complicate things, I think it's best to go with a game's release date rather than when you played it Probably sounds like common sense, but I figured worth stating. If you're in need of a refresher/quick reference, here are the years as well as the three top-rated new console/PC releases (i.e. not apps, remakes, ports and such) from each according to Metacritic (including ties where applicable). 2006 Zelda: Twilight Princess, Gears of War, Oblivion 2007 Super Mario Galaxy, BioShock/The Orange Box (technically, Portal & TF2), CoD4/Halo 3 2008 GTAIV, LittleBigPlanet, World of Goo/BioShock/MGS4 2009 Uncharted 2, CoD:MW2/Street Fighter IV, Forza 2/Arkham Asylum 2010 Mario Galaxy 2, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption 2011 Arkham City/Skyrim, Portal 2, Minecraft 2012 The Walking Dead, Mass Effect 3, Punch Qu...Beat Sneak Ba...uh, Journey/Xenoblade Chronicles 2013 GTA V, The Last of Us, BioShock Infinite Personally, I'm torn. In 2010, there was Mass Effect 2, Just Cause 2, Rock Band 3, Halo: Reach, NFS: Hot Pursuit, Nier, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Alpha Protocol and even Heavy Rain. Oh, and Red Dead Redemption. While 2011 has Batman: Arkham City, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Witcher 2, Bastion, Uncharted 3 or a decent amount of quite good games like LittleBigPlanet 2, Gears of War 3, Renegade Ops, Sonic Generations, Pokemon Black and White, L.A. Noire and inFAMOUS 2. Of course, I also liked 2007, with biggies like Halo 3, Mass Effect and The Witcher, as well as stuff like EDF 2017, Stranglehold and Crackdown. And even 2013 has had some crackers too. If pushed, I'd probably have to go with 2011. All that without even mentioning lots of other peoples' favourites or things I haven't gotted round to myself: Mario, D Souls, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, DA: O, Mirror's Edge, Minecraft, Assassin's Creed, BioShock, Portal, CoD4, Journey, etc, etc. Sooo many great games this gen. Saturnine Tenshi
2011 had The Witcher 2, Ar Tonelico Qoga, Bastion, Atelier Totori, Skyrim, LittleBigPlanet 2, Uncharted 3 and Saints Row the Third. Topping that is going to require a real friggin' feat.

Vecha
2008. Listed games, then mirrors edge + dead space, the year EA came back. Damn...maybe I should change my vote to 08. The year I felt Survival Horror made a comeback...sadly, DS1 was the best(for me) and the best Survival horror games started showing up on PC.
