Waldorf and Statler
So apparently I completely missed the three standing stones at the beginning of the game and only got them when I had reached level 5. I also got me the amulet to marry, and the only lady who has expressed interest is this manly nord woman who I had a fist fight with. Fuck that. I got me some jungle fever for that redguard lady at the bar. I WILL help her. And hopefully she wants my Al Bino body.

It would be cool if different NPCs were attracted to different physical attributes (beyond just gender) so if you made a giant buff black dude then different people would be attracted to you than if you made a small, frail albino guy. Yeah, this is definitely an area that could be improved in these sorts of games. So far, people only react if you're a male or a female, or are naked. They should comment more on stuff you have, stuff you're wearing, your bodily attributes, and stuff you've done.

Waldorf and Statler
My character is buff, has a mohawk and looks like a badass Elder Scrolls Battle Ezio. He has no need for beards. I will do the impossible so my second character, my argonian, looks like a killer crocodile.
Saturnine Tenshi
Why do my shadow edges all look like shit no matter what settings I'm using?
deanb
Because they're shit in general. I've seen many people complaining of the shadows. No idea what they've done (or not done) to make it this way. Round column casting shadows that look like something from an 8-bit consoles. I just ignore em. Talking of graphic quality this dude tweaked his settings (outside of the game, used ATI Tools, though thread has Nvidia instructions) to put his game into "ultra low" mode. I think it looks kinda neat, though I wouldn't want to play it this way.

Waldorf and Statler
I think it can't be a non-miscellaneous mission NPC. I say this because hot chocolate lady didn't want anything with me
Johnny
This post contains spoilers from the Winterhold College and surrounding areas, involving at least one side quest chain: In a side-chamber in the tunnels under the Winterhold College, I found this little curious thing: The symbol in the center: It seems completely unrelated to any quest chains starting in the College and I was unable to activate it, but I was curious so I went further into the tunnels. Fairly quickly, I came upon this other device: I was also unable to activate this one. The glove's palm has the same symbol on it, which I forgot to take a screenshot of. I'll nab one next time I'm by the college. As I continued further into the tunnels, I soon found an exit and dropped down onto a natural-looking platform below the university. From this platform I saw a large mass of ice, which I decided to visit. The mass of ice didn't contain much of interest. An old ruined temple, a few skeletons and a chest of mildly valuable items. However, as I decided to continue north I found a cave with a crazy old man with an odd-looking box. At this point, I was given a quest by this old man. I will not tell what the quest is about, but I suggest you go find him
TheMightyEthan
To fix the vertical mouse sensitivity go to the Skyrim.ini file in Documents\MyGames\Skyrim and change the following lines fMouseHeadingYScale=0.0100 fMouseHeadingXScale=0.0200 to be the same (I changed them both to 0.0200, but people say making them both 0.0100 also works). The lines should be under the Controls heading. If they're not there just add them.
Kovach_
I love it when you need to fuck with the .ini file just so you could change some basic shit in a 60$ game.
TheMightyEthan
Has anyone else had the problem where you have to turn your speaker volume WAY up because Skyrim is so damn quiet? And if so have you found a solution? I have to turn mine up so high that there's a constant background hiss.
Faiblesse Des Sens
This reminds me... I always hear talk of adjusting the FOV... but why do developers use that FOV in the first place? I never hear anything positive about it, but rather, it's something I only hear about when a dev seemingly fucks it up. Obviously, they're making a conscious design choice to do it. TheMightyEthan
Usually it's because they use the console FOV on the PC version as well. The console FOV is designed for you to be sitting some distance back from the screen, so it's not filling as much of your view, and doesn't work as well on a PC where you're sitting much closer. Exactly. The biggest issue with the console FoV being default in PC games is that raising the FoV, even to a PC standard of 85/90 can cause some fish-eye effects and Skyrim is one of those games that does this. What this means is that on top of things looking distorted, it can be hard to judge when to strike as your enemy could look further away but really be in striking range. deanb
I've being using 80 which is real nice, though it forgets now n then. I might just macro it in (Since I've got a keyboard that can do that, may as well ) Regarding the mouse thing: I've heard that doesn't work so well due to the attachment of vertical speed to FPS. I'm not too bothered though, it hasn't been an issue past 2 days, seems to have only struck early on. In other news:
MasterDex
Yeah, I might try 80. I set it to 85 and the fish-eye effect wasn't too bad but still noticeable. I think it resets every time you load a game or fast-travel. It's quick enough to set it again though. Just use the tilde/negation key and type FOV XX where XX is your FoV. Has anyone found a way to disable bloom in the game? I looked through the .ini and found nothing. I hate bloom, I wish developers would stop using it. Eleven
Does setting the fDefaultFOV setting in the ini file prevent the game from losing the FOV setting? I'm thinking it might revert it to the default, which is what is in the ini file. I use the console too change it too and it reverts. I might try it and see if it changes in game. Also, anyone know a patch that would make the fonts (subtitle fonts at least) bigger? Or, even better, change the damn font as the letters are too close together and doesn't work really well at all! I hate that damn font. Edited November 13, 2011 by NotPenny'sBoat!
Maritan
Did you noitce they're using Morrowind exploration music in Skyrim? It's awesome. Also, now I understand what devs meant when they said that the game is probably "too big". It's fucking HUGE. I'm also surprised by the attitude of the Thieves' Guild. I've been a steam user since 2007, but I can't remember a game THIS popular. Edited November 13, 2011 by Maritan
Connorrrr
26 hours in, loving every minute. Does anyone else but me struggle with wanting to do everything, but also wanting to roleplay? My character so far has generally been a good guy, hates injustice, etc... Spoilers ahead for Dark Brotherhood access quest: So, when that orphan kid asked me to kill an old lady and I found out she'd been beating the orphans and forcing them into servitude, naturally, I killed her, because that's unjust! Then I got my invitation to the Dark Brotherhood and now am wrestling with keeping up my RP and being disgusted, or wanting to do everything. Another reason for me to want to maintain a Roleplay character is so I have something to do in my next playthrough, soooo yeah.
