TheMightyEthan
Hey, I have a new PC... which means YAY TEXTURE MODS! Except that their engine isn't designed to utilize modern PCs very effectively.

TheMightyEthan
Mine glows blue, because it's not evil.
CorgiShinobi
Tell me PC gurus... Why would my game of Skyrim run better in Windowed Mode? I thought that Windowed takes more processing power, and etc, thus it would hinder performance. Except I can actually play without a hitch with Low and Medium settings if I choose Windowed. I would lag from time to time if it were in Fullscreen.
TheMightyEthan
Sometimes stuff will run better in windowed because there's some random weirdness happening with the code in fullscreen that's causing the lag, rather than your computer not actually being able to handle it. Saturnine Tenshi
Skyirm runs better windowed for me as well. I suggest using the SBW mod for anyone running windowed. deanb
http://www.skyrimnex...ile.php?id=3863 Uses the Nexus Mod Manager and SKSE. It filters, it sorts, it is searchable too. Gonna go have a look at what it does with a chest*. Magic is "coming soon". Still disappointing that it needs to be fixed at all. *Nothing
Eleven
Does it still work with a controller? I'm going to try, but I'm busy doing the main quest... If anyone knows.... EDIT: Read through the comments and it works. EDIT 2: So I tried it. But since I'm using a controller, the original interface was better. Plus text is bigger. I can see how it's a huge improvement for KB/mouse though. Too bad about the chests, and looting hasn't changed too. TheMightyEthan
As far as the game is concerned looting and chests are identical. It's just you looking through a container. I'm sure the mod will add container support at some point.
TheMightyEthan
I think maybe this goes here: http://pressxordie.com/2011/12/17/my-game-of-the-year-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/
TheMightyEthan
So I just fast traveled and was greeted with this view. Not quite as amazing as dean's aurora pick, but it made me pause for a moment.
Enervation
I really do hate those swamps. So colorless and barren. Not exactly sure what I was expecting from a swamp, though...
Waldorf and Statler
My problem with those swamps is that I was crossing them when I was level 15 or so. I saw an insect coming towards me. I thought to myself "hey what's the worst that can happen, I've killed plenty of mudcrabs" Seconds later I was reloading. Saturnine Tenshi
Your screenshot makes me want to play Skyrim again, Ethan. But it's too soon.
TheMightyEthan
I guess the gods saw my tweet yesterday about how I'd never seen the aurora except teeny glimpses of it through heavy cloud cover, cause this morning I saw this: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/596957222606356855/4ECCF1C82BD7365107895D24FDFF92B058F49C81/
SomTervo
I just got it, and inadvertently played a couple of hours on Master. Doesn't actually seem that hard. I'm gonna stick with it and see how far I can keep going. It might just be I'm still in tutorial-land so everything's pish, but I didn't die once doing about 3-4 quests. Am playing cautiously anyway. Too used to Demon's Souls. Edited December 18, 2011 by kenshi_ryden
CorgiShinobi
I'm glad to be back to this game, but today was oh so special. (Wish I remembered I could take a screenshot.) I'm running along side Whiterun and I'm greet with a dragon landing right behind me. Did not see it coming, at all. It was easy enough, but then a Whiterun Guard gets in my way and as the dragon is dead, the guard runs right into my view and caught in my spell. "Stop right there!" Screw it, reload. Turns out the dragon is still there, but he found a foe in a local giant! Guards are running around, the dragon happens to be flying into the ground and the giant is chasing me for the longest time. Really, I'm dodging so many killing blows from the giant as I'm trying to gets shots with my bow on both the giant and dragon. It's nice to have the dragon help out, so in sequence of death: 1. Giant 2. Guards, and 3. Dragon. I'm glad I kept all my Stamina potions too.
deanb
Ethan I forgot to mention, if you're far along enough with the main quest you can use the "Clear Skies" shout at night, and that usually gets you an aurora within a few moments.
Eleven
Oh the clear skies shout is my favorite shout. Not only does it make the sun go up, it also removes snow that drops my framerate! By the way, if you're far enough in the story, you'll eventually go to a place called "Blackreach". I liked that place.

deanb
You know with my again 9600GT I'd been thinking I was doing Skyrim an injustice, but it's nice to see people playing it on their toasters now n then.
Johnny
Eh, I wouldn't worry. The only thing that really looks sub-par even on lower machines is the shadows... and those just look shit on ALL machines.
TheRevanchist
Turns out the dragon is still there, but he found a foe in a local giant! Guards are running around, the dragon happens to be flying into the ground and the giant is chasing me for the longest time. Really, I'm dodging so many killing blows from the giant as I'm trying to gets shots with my bow on both the giant and dragon. It's nice to have the dragon help out, so in sequence of death: 1. Giant 2. Guards, and 3. Dragon. I walked into this same scenario. Only, the guards were attacking the Giant and the dragon. I watched for a bit. After watching, I was so bored of waiting for them to kill each other, I got involved. So, as the dragon landed, I jumped in, and pulled a shout out to my homie on the dragon side. Well, it got the dragon, but hit a guard. So, after I killed the dragon, the giant comes after me. I take him down, but I'm getting hit by something that is draining my health. Turns out the guards are after me for the friendly fire. I figure that my health is so down, and I'm about to kick the bucket, let's fight. That lasted about 10 seconds before my death scene and reload. Stupid guards! Stay the hell out my way.
