RockyRan
Yeah one thing I most definitely notice is the overabundance of gold in the game. Why in the world is a helmet that weighs 5 units sells for 60 gold is beyond me. And this after being a measly 10 hours in the game and getting base-grade loot. I'm up 700 gold whereas in Oblivion it'd easily take me twice as long to get half that much. I guess I'll have to look into a mod that balances for that (if there is one right now) because I've been hearing you have consistently more gold than you know what to do with through the course of the game. Johnny
I saw a thread about someone working on a rebalance mod for the economy. Higher gold count for merchants, more expensive buy prices, lower sell prices. I found the main problem with getting gold in Skyrim was to find enough sellers in an area to buy all the stuff I was carrying.

CorgiShinobi
I married Sylgia as my last bit of Skyrim playing for a... while... Quite the experience actually. I didn't realize the time you talked with the priest-guy was the time of your wedding, so mine was set to begin at 12:34 a.m. Anyway, my side was filled with Lydia, that one elf dude from Riverwood, and the hotel manager woman from Whiterun. I really don't know why those last two would show given how much I've helped others... Yeah, the whole time the woman from Whiterun was moonwalking behind me as she didn't have enough space to sitting down. That, and the common bug of "runaway bride" happened. I had to track Sylgia back to her spot in Redbelly Mines. I get up to her and talk, but the whole time we're talking about where to live, I'm talking to her ass. Anyway, she's on her way home. Exit the mines and I'm greeted to my first Frost Dragon. Of course, every NPC tries to fight the thing which means my wife of one day is in risk of dying. Damn thing hardly lands on the ground and all but one guard has died. For some reason the dragon flew off to fight something in a field. I get there and my horse is tackling the dragon! It sees me, we fight in a sunny field for a few minutes. The dragon is literally on the verge of dying when it decides to fly back to town. THE BASTARD ALMOST KILLS MY WIFE! I ran up, did a finishing power move which meant mashing my new war axe into the dragon's eye four times. I lost my skyforge steel sword when it was disarmed in that "retrieve queen's sword" quest. /honeymoons in Skyrim
deanb
I've gotten to the point where I have more money than I know what to do with. I don't even bother selling my loot anymore, I just put it in a chest so I can sell it if I decide to in the future. I did that in my first save and it's become a problem whereby: Opening this chest seriously dampens game performance I have to quick save before using it in case I accidentally hit R There's not enough cash on the vendors should I want to just sell it all anyway. My current Orc I've made a point of selling on most of my stuff, my "to sell" loot box is mostly just the really really expensive items I end up picking up/creating that vendors don't have the cash for even one item of. The rest of the junk is fairly easily sold, especially in Whiterun.
TheMightyEthan
I was making a point of selling all my stuff, even waiting the 48 hours for merchants to restock gold, but when I hit 110k gold I was like "screw it"
TheRevanchist
I spend a lot of money on ore and ingots. Constantly making new things. And I am spending money on buying quest items, as there are so many quests. I need to complete a bunch. And in towns where I have helped out and completed quests, they are friendly to my Orc. And I am buying the expensive items, usually enchanted, so I can disenchant them. It is time consuming, but I like to work with my hands. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I did that too until I got my smithing and enchanting skills up to 100. Until then I was hovering around 10k gold for a LONG time, and then after I got them maxed all of a sudden I was raking in cash like nobody's business. staySICK
Get this mod Dean linked to earlier. Using the 1-9 keys is handy, but AFAIK there's no way to control which hand the quick button goes to. This mod makes getting through your favorites menu MUCH faster and more convenient. Mod works pretty well, just a few kinks to work out. one weapon could be my fault since I used the rename option of enchanting. But the bow is a found weapon. TheMightyEthan
huh, I've seen enchanted apparel show up in "other", but I've never seen something show up in a completely random category like that. Weird.
TheMightyEthan
Just finished the Dragonborn quest line. It ended rather abruptly, and anti-climactically.
Enervation
Just finished the Dragonborn quest line. It ended rather abruptly, and anti-climactically. I think aside from the Civil War and Dragonborn questline, the game is fairly good. The Civil War questline was horrifically neutered, in my opinion. It's almost as if they decided to simplify it to focus on something else.
TheMightyEthan
I agree. I loved the capture of Whiterun (I played Stormcloaks), but after that it was just "capture this fort" "capture this other fort" until Solitude. I wanted to assault more cities, damnit. Waldorf and Statler
Yeah the Civil War just seemed like an excuse to battle a bunch of people and level up some skills.
Johnny
You need an excuse for that? *exterminates the whiterun guard* I kinda wish the houses would actually burn down if you threw fire at them.
Saturnine Tenshi
I thought the Civil War questline was neat. Though stumbling into that subterranean mushroom city was neater.
TCP
After playing through the College, Thieves, and Dark Brotherhood sidequests, I really think the Civic War quests were the best of the bunch, at least they were different. Everything else has sort of felt the same.

Everything else has sort of felt the same. I find your statement pretty amusing since the Civil War questline consisted of nothing but "report to X, take fort Y." I was pretty convinced at the battle of Whiterun that the Civil War battles would function in the same way, except you would be attacking. Instead, you get to attack all these forts in the middle of nowhere and all of a sudden you own the territory, city included.
Nexus
I am a Follower murderer. Accidentally ofc. I've killed Lydia, Golldir and Roggi, all by AOE accidental damage. Edited January 8, 2012 by Nexus
TCP
Maybe it's because I'm trying to do a bunch of small tasks for the thieves guild, but this is really starting to annoy me...... Loading. I understand, it's a huge game, load screens are inevitable. But when I want to go to the Thieves Guild, do I really need to leave the building I'm in, loading screen, fast travel to Riften, loading screen, push the button, loading screen, finally in 1/2 of the Thieves Guild (and better hope the person I want to talk to is in that part). If load screens are this long, why not let me fasttravel out of a shop in Whiterun, to the inside of places like Dragonsreach, the Thieves Guild, College of Winterhold, etc etc??? Luftwaffles
I think I would mind the loading screens a lot more if they weren't so goddamn sexy. I usually just end up spinning the character model around in boredom, but they're so much better than the loading in New Vegas or Oblivion.
TheMightyEthan
I didn't even know you could spin the model. TCP are you playing on PC or console? I ask because for me the load screens never seemed very long.
deanb
I'd guess console. I do agree it's an annoyance to get into thieves guild whichever entrance you use, but it's not so much an annoyance of loading screens since at most we get just a bit of rolling fog n mist. Only on fast travel n loading do I tend to get the full "This is a bear, they don't attack unless provoked - M'aiq" type stuff.
TheMightyEthan
Whoever wrote that tip that bears don't attack unless provoked either never played the game or has a strange definition of the word "provoked".
