hahha, not telling you off. The thread is 57 pages long after all, and always good for those who didn't see it the first time around.

Making the bits in Skyrim will take a while, but terrain generation as seen in the other provinces is extremely basic.

http://www.planetside.co.uk/content/view/21/36/ - here's some free terrain generation software if anyone wants to take it for a spin.

http://www.daz3d.com/i/products/bryce/- - Or this, which I prefer.

Great for making wallpapers if nothing else, but should show you how quick you can make basic terrain.

So, revisiting some choices to make within the game. I have 129 missions completed, but only 28 quests completed. I have purposely avoided going through the main quest lines, making sure I do not enter the Skyhaven Temple.

But, after doing some more tasks, and having these invitations to join various groups, I will have to join someone eventually. The question is which way do I go? Companions are kind of an easy choice. I hate the Thalmor, so I kill them any time I have a chance. Thoughts? I'm not set in stone as to what I want to do.

Definitely do the Winterhold quests. You get a lot of chances to train all your various forms of magic, and they don't push you into any other quest lines. The ending loot is sort of meh, but you do get a humble little shanty out of the deal.

Otherwise, The Dark Brotherhood quests do a really good job of easing you into other quest lines. You'll have to join the Thieves Guild to complete those, and it's pretty easy to join the Imperials in the middle of them too. They're also definitely some of the strangest quests in the game.

For the record, though, I've played about 40ish hours and only completed the Winterhold quest line. 40 hours isn't that much compared to other people on here, but I see no issue with just meandering your way through the game. There's really no need to complete quest lines, especially the main story quest, because then there will be dragons fucking everywhere.

What do you guys think about Bethesda stating they were aware of the issues on PS3 before launch?

http://ps3.ign.com/a.../1218881p1.html

I have problems with this, and I'm not going to take the "shoulda got it on PC" route like others have taken to the issue. What it comes down to is that Bethesda assumed they could fix the bugs early on with a patch, and assumed only a small percentage would experience problems. They also assumed that missing the release date would anger more consumers than releasing a game riddled with problems.

Honestly, I'm agreeing with the people who think they simply wanted it to be available for the Christmas season.

This also reminds me of TotalHalibut's WTF on Gotham City Impostors. That game is riddled with matchmaking errors, and etc. The issues were present in the beta, but they still persist. He loves the game, but he couldn't recommend it because it was handled so poorly. A patch that's suppose to fix the problems isn't going to come out until March.

That's for a $15 game btw. Skyrim is $60, and given that it's a frickin' Elder Scrolls game, it really could have come out at any time and there would have been a large amount of profit. The hype that surrounds the game is that good.

Dean, if you're referring to the news story where the Obsidian guy claimed he knew what was causing the ps3 issues, he never actually said that.

It was made up by the site posting the news; If you checked the source you would have seen that he was not talking about any issues Skyrim is having, but rather the issues they had with New Vegas.

Also, check the update to this article: they knew about the problem, tried to fix it, thought they had fixed it, found out after launch that some people still had the problem.

This whole thing reeks of shitty games journalism.

While I linked to IGN, other sites have published nearly an exact story. If anything, it's first impressions of what was revealed by Bethesda themselves.

I don't have any kind of vendetta with Bethesda, but the whole thing just seems fishy on their end. When "small percentage" is used, it doesn't seem like a big deal. What's small though? 5%? 10%? 15%?

Obviously it was a large enough problem to where Bethesda eventually asked people to send their save files. That these issues were big enough like a 6MB save file and framerate issues that would eventually halt any further gameplay session. EDIT: I don't doubt Bethesda had a solution, but you can have temporary solutions as well. Whatever can seem decent at first so you can get it out the door and eventually patch it.

Friend walks in:
"Oh you're nearly dead against this Dragon huh? QUICK SAVE!!"

Also is there at all any mention from devs on why/how it is that only Kinect can do voice commands? Windows has had voice control built into the OS since Vista, so it's not like a "oh only Xbox has voice software in it" (in fact voice control was one of the first mods iirc). Is there some green passing around?

I was looking at this before. Somehow, I doubt anyone wants to spend all night yelling at the TV. I'm not against yelling at the TV, mind you. However, those with apartment living and kids sleeping may experience something different than blissful gameplay until 2 in the morning.

And, I'm about 198 hours into the game right now. I can easily see this game taking me another 50 to 100 hours to complete. That's a lot of time spent talking.

I'm in California. I've been failed by a miserable school system and a state full of hippies and valley girls. I gotta be me.20100612131112.jpg

Edit: To keep this from turning into English vs English, I have set down the controller after 230 hours. My break time has been a little bit, so I'm probably going to pick this back up tonight/tomorrow night.
