    • Depends if it's on sale
    • Maybe one day
    • Probably not.

Decent enough trailer. Mostly gameplay/in-game. It certainly looks nice. Animations are improved (but walking/crouching still could use work lol) besides the obvious environmental stuff. It feels like it could have been an even greater improvement if they didn't make it for consoles (at first) though.

I am wondering whether the dragon battle was pre-rendered or is it actually ingame animation? Like, will you stop before hitting a ledge if your acrobatics is high enough (or, maybe just jump down if it's high enough instead?). The crouching and walking bugged me, too, but compared to Fallout 3 and Oblivion, it's a vast improvement.

It's clearly in game but that doesn't make it gameplay

I think they used some creative camera angles for the dragon fight, but the fight itself is gameplay.

I'm hoping the game world is more awe-inspiring once it's seen in-game (as is certainly the case with Fallout and Oblivion) but I was really impressed by the improvements of the combat.

You strike them with your forehand, the enemy recoils to the left. Hit them with your backhand and they recoil to the right. Then there's the special kill animations...

I'm pretty hyped. I wish that with this and Battlefield they showed more than just previous screenshots in motion, but it is still February.

Looked very very nice for gameplay footage. I hope that part where your character kind of doubles back at the cliff edge is in the game that'd be cool. I'm hyped. ARE YOU HYPED?

I'M HYPED :P

Looks really cool, the dragon fight looks interesting, spells look awesome now, and the new combat stuff like stealth kills and "finishing moves" are awesome! :P

minor plot spoilers for the early part of the game:

This is a mix of speculation and fact, but according to what Todd Howard has said in the GI podcast and their feature on the game, that part is a major (somewhat scripted) part of the game. Your character encounters a dragon, flees, and when cornered gives out a yell in Dragontongue that travels up the mountain, across the world to the Throat of the Mountain, where the descendants of the Blades reside. It then becomes clear simultaneously to you and them that you are the Dragonborne.

You know the dragons actually speak in this game? Can you imagine it?

*Dragon swoops down*

*Player cuts the dragon's mouth*

Dragon: "OWW! WTF man? Why'd you do something like that?!"

Player: "Oh, shit... I'm sorry man, I just-- you came right at me..."

Dragon: "Yeah, this is my home. I was coming to say 'hello' ya dick!"

Player: "Geez, is it bad? Does it hurt much?"

Dragon: "What do you think? Christ, it's not like there's a dragon doctor just hanging around out here. Fuck you, man. 'Dragonborne' my ass!"

*Dragon flies away*

To be honest, I wouldn't expect someone who doesn't have experience playing Oblivion and/or Fallout 3 to be very excited by that trailer.

IMO, videos and screenshots of Bethesda games rarely do the game justice because the primary strength of those games is their tangible immersion.

Showing an image of east Cyrodil from the Imperial City is one thing, but spending an hour in the sewers and then emerging to see east Cyrodil before you? Completely different feeling.

Seeing an image of super mutants in the ruins of DC is one thing, barely escaping from them and then eating rats to replenish your strength? Again, a totally different experience.

I can vouch for this. Morrowind looks like balls now, but the satisfaction I got from that game has created long-lasting memories.

ES5 looks absolutely incredible, and I simply cannot understand the negative reactions, but that I suppose I'm looking at it through a different lens.

I have to say, as a Elder Scrolls fan, I was already looking forward to Skyrim.

But that trailer was just awesome. When the main theme started playing I just about lost my shit.

Can't. Freaking. Wait.

I feel like I should make it a point to finally finish at least Morrowind or Oblivion before it comes out, but I'm really not sure which one...

Did anyone else notice that the chorus in the Skyrim trailer was the same as the menu music to Morrowind?

I'm a little hyped. I got hyped over Morrowind and it blew me away, but then I got hyped about Oblivion and found it to be disappointing. I hope that Bethesda has really learned from their faults as much as they seem to be admitting to in some parts of Skyrim coverage.
