Peace Walker seems to be a love it or hate it thing, I'll probably just get really excited for a new PS4 game and skip ahead to Ground Zeroes.

This entire MGS order fiasco isn't the first time I've been bamboozeled like this, when I was 8 years old my sister rented me Star Wars and played Return of the Jedi first.

Well yeah, Snake Eater is the best one. MGS1 is the beginning (More or less). it worked for sure back in the 90's and it was wonderful. MGS2.... is an improvement but it is more of the same. MGS3 is awesome. MGS4 is a love song to MGS fans.

Now MGSV... oh man. It has the potential to blow MGS3 out. That is what I am hoping.

I played..I think a Resident Evil game. Does it start at like a car wreck or something and folks & dogs coming at you. Couldn't get past it, it just got put in a pile (was from a bunch of games uncle had ion a chipped console). As for MGS, played about 10 minutes of MGS4. People weren't joking about them cutscenes.

Resident Evil 4.

It's as great as it's ever been (suck it, Ethan!). The port is generally good as well (it was kind of impossible for it to not be a massive improvement over the previous PC version) but it does have a few major issues.

The new HD textures look really nice and shooting for 60 fps was a nice effort on Capcom's part but unless you can run it 100% stable 100% of the time, you're better off playing at 30. Reason for that is, the game was apparently coded strangely and relies on its own framerate to tell time. This has for side-effect that whenever the framerate takes a hit, the game essentially goes into slow-motion. Running the game at 60 and suddenly get a drop to 40? You're running at 40/60 of the normal speed. Their AA has also caused performance issues with some people, which ends up causing said slowdown. It was annoying at first but once I gave up on 60fps and turned AA off entirely it ran smoothly.

DmC. Really solid title. I feel like the dialogue and story is a step up from your average DMC game but still not at all a reason to play any game in this series. Gameplay wise I felt like I was more agile than in any other DMC game and I really liked that. The level design was fucking great. Some really memorable areas and bosses. Overall, I'd rank this maybe a tad below DMC and DMC3, but definitely above DMC2 and 4.

Have you got the to 2nd to last boss fight yet? In the tower? That boss will live long in the memory.

I finished Pokemon Y last night. I probably wouldn't have played it but my fiance got me it for Christmas. Man, that series needs to get rid of at least 500 pokemons, tone down the anime aesthetic, revamp the battle system, and overhaul the world structure so it's a little more open.

South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Holy shit, that was fucking amazing. As far as RPGs go, it's pretty light. It's kind of easy (I played on the hardest difficulty and only one fight gave me any trouble), there isn't much to the mechanics, you can pretty much equip any gear regardless of your class and the combat gets really repetitive. It's also very short if you ignore the side-quests and stick to the main story. But for a long-time fan of South Park like me, it's basically a perfect experience. It feels true to the show in every way imaginable but it also acknowledges that it's a video game. I went in hoping for something akin to a second movie and what I actually got was even better than that.

According to Steam, it took me about 14 hours to beat. I completed all the side-quests I found but I still have some collectables left to get. That might seem short for an RPG but I've paid more for shorter games so I'm happy with what I got for my money. If you're a fan of the show, it's worth every single penny.

The Stick of Truth

For the South Park experience, it met and exceeded my expectations (See FLD's post), though I felt it missed some good opportunities (Kind of unavoidable though).

As a game, yes and no. The battles, while repetitive, they felt smooth and good. With that said, I wished there was a third character with harder enemies and/or more numerous enemies to compensate. I felt that I wasn't able to mix up my partner enough. For example, I hardly used Kyle or Cartman. While I am very happy with the game but yeah, it could of have been longer (16 hours with all side quests, I think?). Kind of tied into the missed opportunities. For example, an actual school day where you sit in class would of been nice.

Another thing, as said by FLD, your class really didn't matter. I was a mage but I was acting more like a warrior. As a RPG, it is pretty damn weak since Douchebag didn't have a role. This is perhaps my biggest complaint. The South Park gang had their specific roles but you didn't. When I chose my class, I was expecting to stick with that class. As a mage, they could of made me less proficient in the use of swords and junk. Or perhaps the mage could of been the class that could restore mana without potions. With that in mind, I HARDLY used magic. What is the point of the classes then?

Inventory management is also terrible. It would be great if I could sort my gear by level and type. Hell, it would be nice to also manually sort the sodding thing.

To recap my feelings...

The experience: A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Overworld: Love it.

Battle: I really like it.

Background stuff like classes and inventory: What the shit? (After some thoughts after I beat the game)

Despite my misgivings, I would recommend this to anybody who likes South Park. Totally worth the money.

Did the mage get any magic attacks in addition to the regular "spells" ?

I played as a Jew and all my PP abilities were relevant to that. Sling of David, 4 Plagues of Egypt, a dreidel attack, etc. That was the extent of what the class had that was unique, I think.

Oh and you missed out by not using Cartman. He was the most powerful buddy, I think. Once I started using him, I barely used anyone else. I only ever switched when it was necessary to progress.

No. The mage will have its own abilities though. All elemental based. Seems like it really is just the abilities that differ between the classes. I'm going through it again right now with the thief. First two abilities are rear attacking. One will bleed the target and the other will mug and stun the target. The third one that I just unlocked is a spam fest of flying projectiles that will hit an entire column of enemies.

During the final boss (Which is amazing), I love using Kyle's ultimate ability. During this thief playthrough, I'll be using Kyle and Cartman more. Also the summons too. The summons really suffer from the "elixir" problem. You want to horde them but whoops, here's the boss which you can't use summons on.

While playing on this second playthrough, I also coming to realize just how shitty the save management system is... since there is none. It'll be fun trying to find my mage save so I can 100% that one as much as possible. The other playthroughs are speed runs to check out the other classes and experiment with builds and playing techniques. There are also those minor choices that was presented that I didn't play around with.
