Mr. GOH!
No. I want the next one to be about the dwarves clearing Moria.

Mr. GOH!
More dwarves, more beards, more fun. Edit: Of course, having an open world game that ends in the death of the protagonist would be difficult to get right. But I think it would be possible to put together a big finishing battle with the Balrog that ends in the player character's death while accomplishing something good (perhaps the destruction of one of the Dwarven Rings). Â Also, this gif made me laugh.: Â Edited October 2, 2014 by Mr. GOH!

The world of Middle Earth I would imagine have tons of song/legend of valor and similar stuff. The second to last level should slowly reveal the song as you move throughout the level. The climax of the song will be like destroying one of the Dwarven Rings. It ends by recounting your last stand (Think Halo Reach but more badass). The BGM is the instrumental of the actual song. Mr. GOH!
There isn't a song about Moria, sadly, because the fellowship were the first non-evil folks to discover that the dwarven expedition had been wiped out. But they could make one up and have the telling of the tale as a framing device.

SomTervo
Picked it up during lunch at work... I caught a nasty cold on the flight back from Rome, hoping I can convince the boss to let me head home early... Then it shall be ON Â Edit: and since when the heck was Alien: Isolation out on Tuesday! Â Isolation and The Evil Within are both here about a week and a half sooner than I expected! SomTervo
6pm GMT eh? Maybe. Maybe. But: Â A) I'm level 22 so will be useless B) I don't really have several hours to kill C) I need to get time in with the giiiifrieeend, so playing something we can both enjoy may be a priority. Â But if you're really struggling, invite me.
TheMightyEthan
Just do what I did: ignore her for weeks to play Destiny instead. Â I promise there are no negative consequences.

TheMightyEthan
Apparently the last-gen versions don't have the nemesis system, at all. Â Isn't that like the whole point of the game?
Mr. GOH!
Yeah, that seems nuts. But it is interesting to see how last gen really held back interesting gameplay systems and not just graphics.
deanb
So I've been giving this a demo, and me likey very much. Certainly on my radar now, I've a few bits to tide me over, what with CivBE upcoming but I might grab this for xmas. It's very much what I'd be looking for in an AC game, and a nice little work around for why you die (and the fact you do actually die and that impacts the world, that's real nice). Â Anywho, my demo time is up me thinks (killed the Slaver, first main mission, and a bit of exploring around), now back to Last Remnant. Might finally finish it
SomTervo
Played it a ton last night when the other half conked out from early shifts. Â Really great game, this. Frankly I'm preferring it to AC or Batman, though the abject lack of story missions is really disappointing. Like i played for 3 hrs and have done 10/20? Really? (Though I am rushing a little to get Brand.) Â I think a far bigger issue however is how much Monolith utterly fucked up the narrative pacing. Â It's almost a phenomenon. Tomb Raider was exactly the same, and Far Cry 3. It's like these devs decide to cram 30 mins of exposition into a 5 minute opening sequence , which leaves one totally uninterested/ confused about the scenario. There's no weight to it. Â I knew most of the story and set- up going in, so even though I was like 'this feels really rushed' to begin with, i could follow what was happening. Â But my partner - who knew nothing other than it was Middle Earth and a little about the Nemesis system - didnt understand it at all. She got his family were killed obviously, but didnt get who he was, who Celem was, who the villains really were, ANYTHING, because frankly the game doesnt tell you it. We arent told that the fam were killed in a big massacre. We arent told 10 years has passed (how?!) we arent told Celem doesnt really know who he is. Â So disappointing. Thank christ the narrative smooths out after 5-10 mins. At least TR and FC3 had really basic expositions- ME:SoM actuall has a pretty complex plot going on. It's not excusable imho. Â Edit: but the gameplay itself is phenomenal, so hey. I think my rant there only exists because the rest of the game is so together, the rushed as fuck opening really stands out. Mr. GOH!
Celem mentions it very briefly when you wake up.
SomTervo
Very briefly as in literally two quick words in passing. And he says it near the very beginning, like first 15 mins. But it's said only once and with no explanation. And it's a pretty fucking big plot point, no? Mal
I'm getting murdered left and right. Also they're not kidding when they sound the alarm in strongholds. Must have been about 30 orcs and uruks. Needless to say, I died and that captain that I nearly killed got promoted. One other encounter (Where I was stalking the previous captain) was with a captain that I previously defeated. I think he was fucking hunting me. I nearly got him but a fucking orge came around and stomp me into a pile of shit.  Maybe I'll do better with a controller but overall it plays fine with kb+m.  Very briefly as in literally two quick words in passing. And he says it near the very beginning, like first 15 mins. But it's said only once and with no explanation. And it's a pretty fucking big plot point, no? I was waiting for it but I never heard it. I think I'll just keep on killing orcs and pretty much ignore the story.
Mr. GOH!
Story Missions give you powers. You need to do them to get to the most interesting gameplay.
Mal
I mean storyline wise. I will progress in it but I don't think I'll pay much attention.
