TheFlyingGerbil
PC, PS4 and Vita, February 2018. Shame it's not coming to Switch.
Mal
Too much bitching about the chibi art style. It's, to me, a 3D version of the sprite work. Sure, it be awesome to get say a Vanillaware treatment (the title screen art is more than enough justification) but come on. To me the way they went about it can make it stand up to time (like the sprites) unlike say the Final Fantasy remakes. Ok, maybe Flammie could use some flowing feathers just for it.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I don't understand why people are so upset, to me it looks just like the original but 3D.
Mister Jack
I hope the graphics switch means they can tighten up the combat a bit. I really liked the original game but having to wait in between every swipe of your weapon in order to do damage got really tedious. I don't know if they did that intentionally for gameplay or hardware reasons, but I doubt it would fly in a full 3D remake. When you swing a sword at a physical object, you expect it to actually connect. If they want to limit your damage output, they can just put in a stamina bar or something. Mal
A few things that caught my eye... I'll be editing for better trailers and info. A teaser for some mecha-based game by people who brought you Armor Core and Front Mission. Art by the same guy who brought us MGS and Zone of the Ender. Not sure what and how but "survival action shooter" so something to keep an eye on. For PS4 and PC. YES. Unexpected EDF spin off. More in line with Insect Armageddon but it may be good? It kind of establishes that there is a B-team of sort to make an EDF game and that Insect Armageddon is not just an one off. I never knew I wanted such a thing but... Konami. Kind of neat. Kind of weird due to needing to be naked to pilot mechs. Might be a Visual Novel kind of game or... something. On one hand, the last Front Mission had a ton of issues, on the other hand Yoji Shinkawa and Toshifumi Nabeshima make me interested in this game, I'll be keeping an eye on it. \m/ \m/

Mal
Valkyria Chronicles 4 PS4, Xbone and Switch. Have they done it? Have they recaptured the magic of VC1? I think it is pretty close... And PC sometime later maybe? I have a Switch so I'm not totally left out. Mister Jack
Aw hell yeah. This is great news. But shit, I never played VC 2 or 3. Am I gonna be totally lost with the story?
MetalCaveman
Not really, 2 was a sequel but the change in tone and setting makes it feel like a completely different game, 3 never got an English release, but takes place alonside the events of the first one, just in a different place, seems like 4 is taking the same path, so I think you should be fine even if you've only played the first one. Mal
This game takes place after VC1 but before VC2. So you are fine.
TheMightyEthan
What if I played VC1 and then stopped when I ran into that stupid tank boss?
MetalCaveman
Then you need to try over and over again until you get through it. Or get a save file... Or watch/read about what happens after...
Mister Jack
That tank boss was a real son of a bitch. I can't even remember how I eventually got past it.
