I think I remember the devs insisting at one point that the game wasn't a "third person shooter," so either they were lying or there's more to the game that they haven't shown us yet.  I wouldn't mind some genre blending, myself, but I'm not going to get my hopes up right now.

Since it doesn't have multiplayer or online of any kind, I just have to assume it's got something up it's sleeve. It has to do something else differently, These kind of games are kind of tailored for multiplayer.

I feel that if the game isnt as varied or polished as RE4 or Uncharted 2 or 3(for my money the best TPS ever made), its going to get chewed up and spit out.

Do you consider Uncharted a third person shooter or an action/adventure game?

All the previous gameplay videos killed my interest.

There's potential... But they sure aint showing it off. It's like they've taken the very worst aspects of The Last of Us, Bioshock, and Uncharted.

They verbally promised large open areas though- this does give me some hope. Intelligently designed battles, Halo/TLoU style, could well save the thing.

I don't know, it looks fine to me. We haven't had a ton of 3rd person cover base shooters (not like on Xbox anyways) on PlayStation, and the setting and general tone of this game, coupled with the amazing visuals, makes up for somewhat generic gameplay, in my opinion anyways.

If the gunfights even remotely approach the crack-by-crack tension of TLoU, then my eyebrow may twitch in interest.

But to know that I'd probably have to buy the game.

And i aint buying the game.

QTE's can work, eg in God of War. Only if they're very cleverly integrated into general gameplay. Idk if that'll happen here

I tried out the shorter version of the demo at the PS Experience. It's not revolutionary, but it is solid. The controls felt comfortable and the melee combat was pretty versatile. It looked really nice and ran well. The setting and the airship was pretty cool. It's not going to blow you away, but it should be a very refined and polished game. Unfortunately I wasn't able to ascertain more about the game than that. It seems like it could have an interesting story, but I would need more details to know about that.
