Mister Jack
It looks okay but that's kind of the problem. It just looks okay, like every other open world game ever made. It would probably be fun enough if I play it, but do I want to spend $60 on something that looks like I've already played it a hundred times? I don't know. I might just get Nioh 2 instead. TheMightyEthan
Since it's supposed to be about launch games hopefully they'll announce if Ghost of Tsushima is getting a PS5 version. Â Also, I notice that picture of the DS5 is all black.
CorgiShinobi
It still looks white to me, just the whole added effect of "low lighting." I'm thinking Sony wants to really incorporate white into their "blue and black" color scheme they've developed in the PS4 era.
TheMightyEthan
No, it's all black. Look at the original reveal image: Â Now look at the new picture: Â Â In the new one you can see down below the touchpad, where the white ended on the original, and you can also see the sticks, which were black on the original, and see that it's all the same color. It's definitely black.
MetalCaveman
Well then, HELL YEAH! Â I wasn't a fan of the white controller, so if there's an all black option on release that's awesome. \m/ \m/
CorgiShinobi
...It's white. Color is a product of light and anything where the bottom is already pitch black for the sake of aesthetic, and for white text to be fully legible, is going to be black.  The top is too light grey for Sony's traditional "Jet Black" color. That along with the shapes and icons being a darker color to contrast the base color. If it were a "Jet Black" base, the icons and shapes would be a lighter color to provide contrast. But they're not; they're darker just like in the official controller reveal images.
TheMightyEthan
I understand how color works, but if the image were dark enough to make the white parts look that dark then you wouldn't be able to see the dark parts at all, but you can clearly see both the sticks and PS logo. We know at least those parts are black from the original image, and in this one they're no darker than the supposedly white parts at the top. The light part around the very top is just what black plastic looks like when lit with the predominantly blue light from a TV in an otherwise dark room. You know, a common lighting situation for controllers. Â I'm not saying they got rid of the white controller, just that the one in this particular picture is black. Which lines up with what a lot of people were predicting that there would be multiple colors.
CorgiShinobi
I don't mean for this to be an argument, but even in Sony's teaser for the event, it's showing the white controller.
TheMightyEthan
Lol, what are you talking about? That's the same black one.
TheMightyEthan
I asked my wife without suggesting a color and she said it was black, but then when I explained the dispute and showed her the other picture she said it's probably The Dress 2. deanb
I feel it might be white. Â I suspect it's a bit like this (with added "shrouded in darkness") We'll see on Thursday I guess. no doubt black will be a colour eventually either way. MetalCaveman
Â Understandable, EA and Google have also postponed/cancelled stuff.
TheMightyEthan
I keep going back to it, and no matter how I look at it I can't see it as anything other than black.

Thursday Next
https://blog.playstation.com/2021/02/23/introducing-the-next-generation-of-vr-on-playstation/ Â PSVR 2 announced. Not wireless, but just the one cable (I hope that means no separate box) would definitely make it more viable for me as I would want to be able to plug and play, then unplug and put away without having to rewire my entire living room.
Mister Jack
Fuck yeah, I can't wait. I hope they make it so you don't have to worry about staying in front of a camera the whole time by using internal tracking. That's the number one drawback of the PSVR for me since I play in a small room and don't actually have as much space as they recommend for the camera. I can still make it work, but I'd love to play VR games without having to finagle with calibrations all the time.
TheMightyEthan
Having had some more time to think about it, I could see the "one cable" just being a USB-C cable that plugs into that port on the front, like how Oculus Quest works if you plug it into your PC. Â Although honestly, I've been playing PSVR games recently, and while the resolution could be better, I'm otherwise still quite happy with it. I kind of wish instead of making a whole new piece of hardware they'd just enable native PS5 support for PSVR. As of now the only way to play in VR is to run in PS4 backwards compatibility mode, which obviously has limitations beyond the headset's resolution. Thursday Next
It sounds like we're going to get at least one more year of use out of our current PSVR setup, I'm quite happy to upgrade next year at some point. Especially if that means internal tracking (no cameras) and a cable plugged into the front of the PS5.
