Yep, totally didn't break the balance or make the game even easier at all.

Honestly I remember liking the combat in the original simply because it put a lot of focus on each swing of the blade. I know it came down to a lot of countering but I liked that in a way. Now it seems Ezio got so many tools you could just shoot everyone to death and it took a little bit of the suspense out of the combat.

people don't seem to like admitting that easy is fun for some games. Easy isn't always a bad thing.

In AC:B easy became repetitive as all you had to do was just chain everything and you would tear through 20 guys at once. What was the term from Kotaku they used earlier... "gameplay loop." Same shit. All the time. Slightly incremental changes.

And when they tried to break the loop (guards who could block certain weapons) the loop was instantly reinstated when the player realises certain weapons or tactics worked on everyone regardless.

Talking about 'making your own fun', in AC:B, for me, it got to the stage where I would get into a fair-sized fight near an edge, and systematically disarm every bad guy, and drop their weapon off said edge. Just so I could get into a bloody good fistfight. *sigh* why wouldn't they simply add enemies who can disarm you, or a place to have good fistfights that aren't the ridiculous, arbitrarily time-limit mercenary fight club things.

Yeah I'm with Gerbil, I'm hoping for some more stealthy areas surfacing in screenshots. The wide open areas of Rome were some of the crappiest parts of the game, I'm glad AC:r dropped them. It'd be a shame is ACIII brought them back.

Maybe intro-ing guns more prominently is to get us shifted over to the idea of liking them, cos I bet they're struggling with how they get hidden blades working fine in a modern day setting. But guns? They fit in fine.

As part of my brother getting a PS3 I dumped a bunch of games on him. ACII included. He told me this weekend he gave up on it, he disliked that at the start of the game the dude would just jump off the side of the building randomly. Can't blame him, I hate that issue too. Since it's somewhat similar (with the whole "open world climbing" thing) I've pointed him to try out InFamous. He does have my collection built up over several years, which is a fair chunk of games, so I guess his tolerance will be pretty low before moving on, so not gonna push him too hard even if I think the AC franchise is pretty nifty. Anyway I know he's really hankering after the game with big american titties, and I'm sure as hell gonna draw it out a fair while before I'm dumping that on him :D. (Also since my lapse of mental retardation subsided and I remembered I own Portal 2 on Steam I dumped Portal 2 on him this weekend. That I know he'll hate cos it requires thinking a bit)

Definitely one of the best sandboxes. My only wish is that it had slightly better cheat support... GTAIII had the best cheats ever. You could give everyone weapons, then make them all fight each other, so the whole city was just one massive amazing warzone. Imagine that in the Euphoria'd RAGE engine... Saints Row kinda had this but I can't stand how that series plays. I actually resort to watching videos of the PC port of GTAIV, heavily modded, to watch action in slowmotion with cool camera angles and see euphoria funtimes in slomo. RDR slo mo is awesome but not as emergent without cars and big explosions everywhere.

On topic, are there any AC mods on PC?
