Strangelove
Yeah, Revelations straight up says that Lucy was a traitorous whorish two timing slut. In their words, not mine.
TCP
I must have missed that part, I just heard it in passing. Forgettable game is forgettable.
madbassman39
I even said "Oh I wont skip it even though people say to, because I don't really want to miss out on at least one of the chapters of the game." Now I have very little memory. I didn't think it was bad, but it could have been skipped and have no bearing what-so-ever on my experience and joy of the third game. TheMightyEthan
Here's a side-by-side of the PS4 and PS3 versions: Watch it full screen at 1080p to be able to see the differences the best. It's obviously just a straight port, but it's nice that they're at least using higher res textures. Also, the PS4 version runs at native 1080p, whereas the PS3 runs at 720p. PS4 looks equivalent to the PC version of AC3 on high settings. By far the most noticeable difference is on the background objects, particularly the ocean and the wood railing. Anyway, I know this isn't a good look at what we can expect from native next-gen games, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless. Presumably the Xbone/360 comparison would be very similar. staySICK
gah, I want a PS4 even more now. THANKS. GOSH.
TCP
So there's someone in the modern day stuff who, when you meet him, is doing "calibrations" to the animus, when you meet him again he describes himself as the "guy doing calibrations", thing is, the voice actor sounds a lot like Garrus from Mass Effect, I can't find any confirmation online that it's him. Strangelove
dlc on PS4 is confusing as hell. I was finally able to download all my dlc right now, even if I thought I already had it. In my library it just says I have 4 addons, but it doesnt let me see which they are or if I can download them or anything. Anyways, when am I able to wear the "new" outfits from uplay? In my library it just says I have 4 addons, but it doesnt let me see which they are or if I can download them or anything. I posted here on how to download things that you redeemed but that haven't actually downloaded yet and don't show up in your list. Anyways, when am I able to wear the "new" outfits from uplay? I believe once you get access to your captain's cabin. I haven't gotten that far yet so I can't say for sure. Why I came in here: Apparently to get the Aveline stuff on the PS4 version (and I assume PS3 version too) you have to redeem another code that's printed on the inside of the cover slip. I didn't even realize that code was there until I saw a news thing in the game menu about it. Once you redeem that it's a 600 MB download to get the content. Dee
Once you get inside the Jackdaw's captain's quarters, that is where I accessed all of the outfits. I can't really remember what it did exactly, but I don't think it kicked me out of the game or restarted it.
TheMightyEthan
If it's like previous Assassin's Creeds your character should just fade out of existence and then fade back in wearing the new outfit, without actually interrupting the game. Dee
Yeah, I think that's essentially what happens.
TCP
Has Ubisoft said anything more on that patch that brings AC4 to 1080p on PS4?
TheMightyEthan
That last I heard was that it should be available "shortly after" launch.
Luftwaffles
1080p is so last-gen.
TheMightyEthan
PS4 version just got patched to 1.02. Can't find confirmation that it fixes the resolution though. *Edit* - Never mind, just realized I had a screenshot of the main menu from last night, so I took another one just now and switching back and forth it's definitely higher res than before. *Edit 2* - Oh yeah, and gameplay is noticeably clearer and less aliased. Strangelove
I was afraid the patch would mess up the fps, but its still as smooth as it used to be. And while this AC is definitely the best one since Brotherhood, did all those games force you to do side stuff as part of a main mission? This game is doing it like crazy. That diving bell mission was so tacked on. As far as I can remember, only Revelations forced you into the bomb crafting and the tower defense thing. The other games never made you do the side stuff if you didnt want to. Its kind of annoying.
TCP
I'm really digging all the side stuff in this. It's not to the point of being a Fallout or Elder Scrolls, but a big huge open world game like this is exactly what I wanted at launch. TheMightyEthan
IIRC it's pretty standard in the series for the game to make you do each side thing once as part of the main story, to give you the tutorial on how to do it. Hunting in AC3 was that way, for instance.
Hot Heart
It's just that in AC, the tutorials last for 8-10 hours.
Mister Jack
Maybe this is a stupid question, but if 1080p had to be patched in to the PS4 version of ACIV, wouldn't that mean it's just upscaled and not true native 1080p?
TheMightyEthan
No, it was upscaled before from 900p, now they've patched it to where it runs at native 1080p.
Mister Jack
Have you noticed a big difference?
Mr. GOH!
AC4 is gorgeous on PC. Currently running it at 1080p with the highest settings on everything except Anti-aliasing (using MSAA x2) and SSAO (usingsecond-best, HBSAO x2 or something). TheMightyEthan
@Jack: Yes, it looks a lot better, everything's much clearer, there's a lot less aliasing on textures and no sub-pixel breakup anymore that I've seen (sub-pixel breakup is when thin things like ropes or power lines get broken into sections that don't look like they connect to each other). The whole thing just looks a lot cleaner. There's also less aliasing on models, though there wasn't a whole lot of that before either. TheMightyEthan
Digital Foundry analyzed the game before and after the patch, and found that there was no loss of performance. They say the change is subtle and hard to notice most of the time, but I disagree. If nothing else it's quite obvious in the rigging on the ships, and with how much time you spend looking at ships in this game that's a huge change.
