Hot Heart
Okay, so my friend who's a bit of a history buff reliably informs me that the subtitle capitalisation is actually a nod to how English was written during that time. That makes the most sense, and is kinda cool.
Mr. GOH!
*rolls his eyes*  Sure, yeah, uh huh. Right. That's exactly why the subs are capitalized randomly. Also explains the long s characters, which is why the title of the game is spelled "Aſsaſsin's Creed IV." Edited October 3, 2014 by Mr. GOH! Mr. GOH!
I blame Ethan for his unwavering support of the terrible, awful Xbone.  I, however, plan to enjoy Unity at a full, rich 1080p on my PC.
TheMightyEthan
  "We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff," senior producer Vincent Pontbriand told VideoGamer.com...  Let me know how that works out for you.    ...while explaining that it's the consoles' CPUs – not the GPU – that prevents Ubisoft Montreal from improving the game's performance.  I can buy that the CPU limitations means you can't run the sim at 60 fps, but what the fuck does that have to do with the resolution? Mr. GOH!
Everybody knows that, just like in real life, prettier people and prettier crowds are smarter, and therefore require more processing power to simulate than uglier, low-res people.

toxicitizen
I'd rather play in 900p than put up with uPlay. Yeah, for a while now I've been seriously considering just sticking to consoles for Ubisoft and EA games in the future and I think I'll do just that once I get my PS4. I just can't be bothered to deal with their fucking bullshit on PC anymore.
Mr. GOH!
Uplay and Origin are not nearly as annoying as console ownership.
TheMightyEthan
I fully acknowledge this is my own issue, but I'm so perfectionist about getting games adjusted just so that on PC I end up spending more time screwing with graphics settings than I do playing the game, especially at the beginning when everything is getting going. Â At the moment a PC in my price range isn't enough better than the consoles to justify dealing with that hassle.
Popular Post toxicitizen
And it's not like it's just that either. Gaming on PC requires significantly more efforts than on console. Even before you start having to tweak settings there's redundant DRM layers to juggle, then there's drivers and hardware issues and what not. I mean, don't get me wrong, if I could afford to build a 2000$ gaming PC tomorrow I'd do it in a heartbeat. Â But with a console, you trade performance for convenience. You just pop in your disc and can jump in right away with no extra steps required on your part. So, GOH's comment about console ownership being more annoying makes no sense whatsoever to me. I'm not sure how to interpret it other than "hurrr master race". Care to elaborate, Mr. GOH?
Mister Jack
Uplay and Origin are not nearly as annoying as console ownership. That's just objectively wrong.
Mr. GOH!
You are objectively wrong, MisterJack. I haven't had a problem with either for years. And neither requires a paid subscription!
TheMightyEthan
I have only had a problem with either of them one time, last Christmas when I was trying to play Splinter Cell: Blacklist, there was like an hour long period where I couldn't connect. SomTervo
Christ I couldn't care less. Â Seriously, even going back to like 800x600 framerates, one's eyes adjust to it within 5-10 minutes. Had this exact experience when replaying some Silent Hill and Spyro 3 with a friend. Â I played GTAV for the first time in a year the other week, and I was horrified at the graphics since playing so much new-gen stuff. I continued playing, and within 30 minutes I didn't even notice the jaggies or the dodgy framerate. People need to stop giving a shit. As long as it's functional and not showstopping, res/fps don't matter for shit. Â What matters is simulation/scope improving, and by god it looks like Unity is going to deliver in that department. That many thousand unique AI and that many unique animations and that many interior spaces over a massive city... Fuck res/FPS. TheMightyEthan
The resolution isn't the point, the point is they explicitly said they were making the PS4 version shittier to keep it in parity with the Xbone. Â If they'd said "We can't make it 1080p because X Y Z" or "We're prioritizing whatever so we have to reduce the resolution" then that's fine, but that's not what happened here. SomTervo
I get that, but it's still irrelevant in the big picture. Ie it won't change the actual quality of the game. Â The only person who really looks bad here is Microsoft who clearly have the worse hardware- are they still forcing parity for cross-gen releases? Â Other than that, it was a stupid PR blunder, but still irrelevant to the game. Edited October 7, 2014 by kenshi_ryden
TheMightyEthan
But it shows a disdain that is troubling, the same as when a dev releases a PC port where it's obvious they just didn't even try.
SomTervo
Perhaps. Though it depends on if it's Microsoft or the publishers who are forcing the parity. If Microsoft/publishers are not forcing parity across platforms, then yeah, I guess that leaves the devs as the only ones who must have skimped on it... Which would be a bit disappointing indeed! deanb
http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/viva-la-resoluci-n-assassin-s-creed-dev-thinks-industry-is-dropping-60-fps-standard-1268241 Â Now trying to compare the 30fps thing to making it more "cinematic". Now I'm all for devs getting a chance to speak, but I think in this case you can definitely see why companies like to have PR handle everything. Some serious foot-in-mouth going on from them lately. The problem is that the fps in film and the fps in a computer game measure somewhat different things in different ways. The biggy being that 24fps of cinema comes with hefty amount of motion blur to fill in the tweens and create motion for the brain. The frames in games are much cleaner cut beyond some fakery (which tends to have a performance hit anyway). If they can only get their game to run at a consistent 30fps, then fine whatever, but it can leave a sour taste when they try and lie about it and its effects. TheMightyEthan
30 fps doesn't bother me, most action games run at that, it's just the limiting the res to keep it parity that's dumb.
