Is AC:B the only game you're having troubles with?

 

Also, DC Universe beta is PS+ exclusive, right?

 

Yeah. The only other thing I MP is Lost Planet 2, which works fine. Although Worms Armageddon doesn't let me play with a friend, but I contributed this to the fact that we "share" that game.

 

I do not have Playstation plus, although it did have the little plus icon when I downloaded it. I registered for this beta a few months ago, I think.

The thing with the smoke bomb is - you have to throw it before your killer attacks you. Otherwise you're too late, maybe that was the problem? It always works for me. Hell I even throw them when I don't want to. Stupid L2 button.

Been doing some reading and apparently the stun animation is longer than the kill one, so it's not meant to be used as a last minute "reflex counter" since the kill will almost always have priority.

 

Seems it's more like a pre-emptive measure for when your pursuer hasn't identified you yet, so you have to blend I guess.

OH! Smoke bomb is one of the special powers? My special power is disguise. That's why I couldn't do it. I'll have to switch it back to smoke bomb, that would be much more useful.

Yeah it's one of the abilities. One of the other abilities I've gained tonight are the firecrackers, but I still don't know what they do.

Once you reach level 11/12 you can use two abilities. Right now I have Smoke Bomb and Disguise enabled.

Level 15 for 2 abilities. Or at least that's what the menu was telling me earlier.

I'm pretty sure it's a bit earlier... I'm at level 12 right now, and I just gained it.

One thing about the disguise though - it wears off way too soon. Grrr. (That's the point I guess, but still.)

Well then the menu lied. It might be something they changed in a patch but didn't bother to actually change the menu text about it.

Yeah the progression is a bit weird. You have to gain quite a few levels to actually have some decent stuff to use.

 

Earlier, I was surprised to see that I still had a few characters to unlock. One of them at level 45.

Seriously. Who cares about a new character at that level?!

 

 

Also level 15 for two abilities is wrong.

I reached level 15 shortly before we stopped playing, but I've had 2 abilities since launch week.

@FLD: I've seen some characters in todays matches I've never seen before. But yeah, you have to level up a fair bit before you gain access to nice things - new weapons and such.

Yeah, I also saw a few new ones during the game, but at first I thought maybe they had come with the free MP DLC that just came out.

Yeah, same. I can't really care for those new characters. The only one I like and don't have is the officer, but you could only get that one by buying the Codex Edition.

 

Has anyone figured out how to work the hidden gun?

Yeah, it works like any other ability.

That's what I figure but somehow I can't equip it. I can choose it as an ability I want to use, but I can't select it in-game. I'll take a look next time.

You need to set the hidden gun as an ability. Then just aim and shoot. You probably won't get a lot of points for using it, though.

 

Also, firecrackers are simply flash bombs. Have you never been flashed (lolol) during a multiplayer match? The screen just goes white for a bit. It's pretty useless. The smoke bomb appears to be much more effective. Then again, the smoke bombs has only a small area of effect.

 

Another thing about stunning is I didn't realize you have to be turned towards the character you want to stun. I kept trying to stun people who were walking behind me. Apparently you need to turn around first... Yeah, I think I'll just run or use a smoke bomb next time.

Oh damn, raine is still awake and posting. Didn't realize this discussion was still on-going. Anyway, you don't need to select it. Just press L2/R2 (depending on what slot you set it to).

Well if it's equiped and you selected the right ability profile, then you're good to go.

You don't just press the button and be done like other abilities. You have to lock on to your target, and then hold L2/R2 for a few seconds while it aims, like in single-player.

Hahaha, i tried the firecrackers once and figured they had done nothing. Didn't realize they were a flashbang.

 

And yeah, I kept trying to stun people who were coming from behind me without turning as well.

That kinda explain why it never worked and why only sometimes I'd get the prompt to press circle.

I guess the times the prompt showed up were times I had somehow turned without realizing it.

So I was going through my AC:B trophy list, and I didn't get one for finishing chapter 1, which is odd because I'm at chapter 5 or 6. (Same thing happened when I finished a quest in Fallout 3, didn't get the trophy for that either.)

 

I really am obsessed with upgrading all the shops and buying all of the landmarks, although in fact that doesn't give you shit.

Also I hate those shop quests, I can't seem to find the right items to get the armor I want.

I think the trophy for chapter one demands you reach full synchronization throughout the chapter. I hear you on the shop quests, I've finished the game + at least 25 hours of fucking around and I still don't have that armor. Got the Brutus one, though.

As it seems, my (and raine's) connection is not to blame, a number of people are experiencing the same problem, some of them on Xbox as well. Ubisoft has not adressed the issue, nor has it responded to the questions concerning this very issue on their own forum.
