Hot Heart
Hooray, now you get to sample diving off the heli-carrier (with one of my favourite bits of music from the year)
TheMightyEthan
$12.99 on Amazon, plus it's cross-buy. I really wanted the Vita version, but the PS3 version with the Vita version was cheaper than the Vita version alone.
TheFlyingGerbil
well I bought my first game of the year yesterday and I'm not off to a good start. It was the Wii U version of a link to the past. I didn't get very far in it on the wii but can have a proper crack at it now with the off screen play and I want to complete it so I can play a link between worlds, and because it's one of the few Zelda games I've not really played. toxicitizen
I've been on the fence about this one for a couple weeks now but I finally went for it. I'm pretty wary of pre-orders these days but I feel this one has enough going for it that I'm willing to take the plunge. It's described as a cross between Phoenix Wright and 999/VLR's style of storytelling with a little dash of Persona. They had me at Phoenix Wright but with the other two, holy shit am I all over that! It's also an HD remake of a PSP game that was never localized, so there's plenty of info, reviews and impressions already out there, there's even been a fan translation, and most of it is quite positive. NISA also seem pretty confident that they have a quality product on their hands. It's still a month off but they've apparently sent out review builds super early with no embargo whatsoever. GamesRadar already have their review up (4/5) and other outlets have been confirmed to also have received copies. So, yeah, I'm not too worried about this one. But most of all, I just want to show some support for this kind of release. I really wish more of these weird Japanese games got localized. I really wanted the Vita version, but the PS3 version with the Vita version was cheaper than the Vita version alone. As a guy who doesn't particularly like fighting games, I liked this one, it's a blast to play with friends. Totally attainable DOUBLE platinum. TheMightyEthan
I'm actually thinking about selling the PS3 version after downloading the Vita one.
toxicitizen
Symphony of the Night left me wanting more and, no longer owning a DS, this was pretty much my only option. If I've done my research right, this is a remake of Rondo of Blood, which SotN was a sequel to. I think it's more linear and not metroidvania but I don't really mind, as long as it's good. Also, it seems it includes Symphony of the Night as an unlockable. Pretty damn cool but I kinda wish I'd known about it before playing the PSOne version. At least now buying the PSOne Classics version won't have been a complete waste of money, I guess. Unlike Final Fantasy Tactics... edit: one more Found a new copy on ebay for cheaper than pretty much everywhere else I looked. I've wanted to try a Vanillaware game for a while now. I've actually wanted to grab this one since before the holidays but was hesitant because of impending school expenses. Well, semester started today and it looks like none of my classes require me to buy any books. So that means I'm left with a stupid amount of money and nothing important to spend it on. Hurray! edit 2: Ugh... one day there will be a rerelease of these games and I won't buy it. That day is not today. I've been shopping around for it ever since buying my Vita but I figured it had gone out of print or something because it only seemed to be available on ebay and through the amazon marketplace and was kind of overpriced (50$ and up) all over the place. I was starting to think I might be forced to buy digital. Then today I see a new copy for 35$ on amazon, I didn't even think, I just clicked. I really need to stop buying things now. edit 3: okay, last one I swear! It was three bucks, it barely even counts... toxicitizen
For Vita but they're cross-buy anyway. Also because I hate having money, apparently. Oh and a couple days ago I remembered that this is a thing and that I still needed to play it There's other discounted PSP games outside the main sale. I was kinda tempted by a couple of niche Japanese SRPGs but I figured I already have enough as it is.
Strangelove
I bought Rain and Tales of Xillia off PSN. This is going to be my first Tales game. I hope it doesnt suck. I always avoided the series because it looks generic as hell. Goddammit, dont suck.
TheMightyEthan
You guys let me know how Rain is. I was interested pre-release, but then I heard not good things about it.
TheFlyingGerbil
wow, the EU sale on PSN is pants compared to the US. I bought the Brothers game. Everything else was years old so I either already had it or never wanted it.
Chronixal
Seriously, it's a given at this point that the EU PSN+ will be better but the sales are abysmal. Thank god for cross region accounts. I'm tempted to grab Tales of Xillia at the current sale price.
Alex Heat
Lost my copy of this a few years ago, so I picked it up again. Also grabbed one of the 3DS game card cases off Club Nintendo. Downside is that I'll have to immediately return the one I ordered off Amazon last week (they were out of stock at the time and JUST got them back in today, naturally). Mal
I disliked that game but then again I'm kind of old school about Journey to the West so that tinted my view of the game.
toxicitizen
Grabbed the current Indie Gala. Most of it isn't really interesting but they just added if you beat the average. I paid 6 bucks. That didn't take long, kinda glad I didn't get it when it came out on Steam.

TheMightyEthan
Dino Crisis 2 is awesome, but I don't know that I've ever played the first. How is it?
Alex Heat
It pretty much plays like a classic Resident Evil game (with all the flaws that entails) with dinosaurs instead of zombies. I consider it to be damn good personally.
TheMightyEthan
That's how 2 plays too. Awesome. Too bad they crapped up 3 so bad.
Alex Heat
It really is. I wish DC1 had gotten a fancy ass remake like RE1 did.
toxicitizen
I drunkenly bought for 12 dollars. I'll probably regret it in the morning but right now it seems like the price I was waiting for.
NeoStarr
I started playing Hearthstone since it went into open beta and put some money into that so I could jumpstart a more viable deck. I guess it was worth it; I'm like 8-0 in ranked so far and quickly catching up to my friends who were in closed beta. As an on and off Magic addict since I was a young teenager; Hearthstone is actually pretty good competition for it. It's a slightly faster, bare bones version of the same game that's much easier to learn and play. Simplifying it to this extent also takes away some of the 1%-chance-complete-bullshit-losses you'd take in Magic thanks to bad hands (no mana/too much mana), or for you MTGO players, a very shitty card shuffler. I don't know that I'd prefer it to Magic myself. Magic has more win conditions that allow for greater variety of viable and interesting decks. Problem is though, drafting is the real attraction for me lately, and Hearthstone is soooooo much cheaper to draft that even if the rewards aren't as good it'll probably be my go to card game for the price alone.
