Games You've Bought 2014

It wouldn't surprise me either way for this particular game, but I'm sure sequels will be multiplat, unless MS makes additional deals.

Yeah, that's the key element here. If SO sells as well as it reviews, I can see them doing everything they can to hold on to it.

I bet you ONE large Boston Pizza pizza (up to 3 toppings) that by the end of the generation it'll be on PS4. It's probably just a 5 year deal like Mass Effect.

I am going to enjoy that pizza. :D

Sony kind of fucked up letting this one go. Oh well at least Insomniac is making more Ratchet games... yay.........

Yeah, tbh I'm shocked Microsoft even agreed to let them keep IP ownership. I guess they were desperate for an exclusive? Either way, good for them. This looks like the best game Insomniac has made in quite a while.

Recent purchases:

Pacman Ghostly Adventures or something like that (Wii U)

I'd buy that just for the title.

I grabbed the Blue Sun expansion for Firefly, but haven't had a chance to play it yet.

I've also ordered a new game, because it seemed like a reasonable price.

Colt Express

A game about being a bandit robbing a train while a bunch of other bandits are trying to do the same. Seems like a cool Western-themed heist game like Android: Infiltration but with the programming madness of Space Alert mixed in. You'll play a sequence of actions then resolve them, hoping others don't screw up your plans, and there will be cool variations like going through a tunnel which means cards are played face-down.

Also, it includes a 3D train.

Freedom Wars is AAA?

Wait, Freedom Wars is out?

It's a first party Sony game, third person shooter / RPG, why wouldn't it be AAA? And yes, out today!

Every time someone mentions its name I get excited thinking it's an Advance Wars clone.  :(

Oh man, I fucking wish. Advance Wars is amazing. Freedom Wars is a dumb Monster Hunter clone or whatever.  :(

Advance Wars is for babies, Freedom Wars is way better.

Your instant dismissal of anything Nintendo-related is getting a little sad, man. Get over it already. Also, you are wrong. :P

But seriously, let me know how you like Freedom Wars. It looks interesting but none of these Monster Hunter-like games have ever clicked for me. Couldn't get into Soul Sacrifice and I uninstalled the Toukiden demo after like 5 mins.

Advance Wars is a Nintendo game? I wouldn't know it's been how many years since they did one?

My experience with Monster Hunter is fairly limited, which might be good, going in without too many expectations.

AAA doesn't refer to developer, publisher, or quality. It refers to budget. It's not an AAA game.

So there's no such thing as a AAA handheld game? Because what's the difference between this and say... Golden Abyss or Soul Sacrifice? It has the same production values as any of the big Vita games, maybe not console quality production values but still on par with any AAA's on modern handhelds.

You say that as if big, ambitious handheld games are common. I know Sony initially tried to sell the Vita as a AAA experience on the go but were there really any AAA-like handheld games before? Golden Abyss was pretty damn ambitious, yeah, but the only other I can think of that even comes close to it would be Gravity Rush. Maybe Killzone Mercenaries? I dunno, I haven't played it.

At this point I'd argue there's no such thing as a AAA vita game :(

Shit, I'd argue there's no such thing as a AAA handheld game, period. They tend to be either much smaller (SRPGs, visual novels, etc.) or they re-use assets and maps a lot (Monster Hunter clones and such).
