Mister Jack
So much for moving away from the grimdark! Holy shit, I'm actually stunned at how terrible this looks. It's almost like a parody trailer or something. This looks even worse than Batman v Superman did. Where to even begin on what they fucked up here? Everything, everything is done wrong. Starfire doesn't even have the right powers! That's not even getting into her laughably bad costume. If I talk about how they messed up Robin I'll probably fill up this entire page. Just shit all around.

deanb
You should check out the animated stuff, they've generally been quite worthwhile watching. The upcoming Joaquin Phoenix Joker film is getting kinda weird. Gained Alec Baldwin as Thomas Wayne which implies in some way following something like the old Batman film that had Joker kill the Waynes. Though at the very least having the...thirty fourth on-screen death of the Waynes. Just in case you didn't know how Batman came about. deanb
This looks like it could be okay. Seems to be pretty devoid of being "super hero" at all. No doubt be a lot of confusion from folks given this is the first of their "totally standalone we've given up on a DCCU" films and folks being "but how does this tie with Jared Leto". Mister Jack
It's not the worst DC trailer I've seen and Phoenix seems like he could be an alright Joker but the idea of a Joker origin story just rubs me the wrong way. It ruins a lot of the character's mystique.
TheMightyEthan
They're making standalone films now?

Been working on several, the Robert Pattisson batman movie will be another one. In other, less cinematic, news the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover for this season of the Arrow/Flash/Supergirl/Legends/Batwoman(?) will be having a bunch of cameos. Previously announced was Brandon Routh as superman (last seen in that role in Superman Returns), currently he's actually The Atom in Arrow/Legends. Today they announced Kevin Conroy will be playing, on screen, an older Bruce Wayne!! (which might also mean Terry McGinnis?) https://www.eonline.com/news/1062129/longtime-batman-actor-black-lightning-characters-join-the-cw-s-crisis-crossover
TheMightyEthan
I couldn't give half a shit about DC's movies, but suddenly Kevin Conroy playing old Batman makes me want to see it.
deanb
Not a movie, it's in the shows. Each season they do a crossover event. This years was "Elseworlds" (which introduced Batwoman and set up the Monitor for the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" event). Gonna be in December/January (I'd guess the shows go on hiatus over xmas) and total 5 shows. It's kinda amazing how the DC TV shows are able to consistently set up 'justice league' type crossovers and the movies with massive budgets can't. And some of those crossovers were across networks too with the original Supergirl crossover.
Mister Jack
James Gunn has cast Pom Klementieff (Mantis) as Kaleidoscope for Suicide Squad 2. I really like how he's filling out the roster with the loser D-list villains. It sounds a lot more fun to me than what they did with the first movie, and knowing Gunn's style he probably won't be afraid to make plenty of jokes about how pathetic they are. Mister Jack
And now it looks like James Gunn is going to be the Kevin Feige of DC. A good choice. Given the state that the DCEU is in, things can only get better with him in charge.
TheMightyEthan
Do you think the execs will ever realize that they need to build up the individual franchises before they bring them all together for one big team movie?
