Mister Jack
Microsoft played it rather safe this year. The conference didn't have any huge surprises and wasn't all that exciting, but on the positive side they didn't totally embarass themselves like last year, so it's still an improvement. Baby steps, I suppose.

toxicitizen
Well, I was right about the Platinum exclusive. Looked kinda weird, though. That was basically Dante in all but name and it gave off a weird Monster Hunter vibe. Looks like it might not be my kind of game at all. Otherwise, Tomb Raider is the biggest one for me. Oh and that Inside game from the Limbo guys looked pretty interesting. Will be grabbing that one when it inevitably comes to PC. deanb
Yeah. Not actually much bad to say about thier conference, just dull. But dull is as you say better than embarrassing.
toxicitizen
I don't know, man. I've come to really enjoy the intense levels of awkwardness E3 brings out of these companies. They somehow managed to not once mention TV, Netflix or Twitter. That's a little bit disappointing.
TCP
No big surprises. I was hoping for a Fallout 4 or Red Dead or something like that reveal. All the big games that got revealed were all stuff we knew of, Tomb Raider, Halo HD, etc. Also the Limbo people's new game looks like Limbo with a worse art style. Assassins Creed looked gorgeous, though I'm not really interested in co-op. The Witcher 3 might just be my most anticipated game, nice to see them get out of Microsoft's pocket and release some multiplatform games. Tomb Raider looked good but I fucking hate CG trailers. They definitely played it safe, but light years ahead of last year.
Strangelove
Sunset Overdrive, AC and Tomb Raider, thats about all the cool stuff. And the Halo collection to a smaller extent.I really cant remember the last time I was jealous of a real Xbox exclusive. Not second party, but first party. Its always the second party stuff I envy, like Mass Effect before it went to PS3 and now SO.Theyre so focused on online multiplayer and Im just so not into it. That pretty much defines why Ive never owned any Xbox console. Its just not for me. Halo and Gears were always the big games on the console, pretty much elevated by online multiplayer. Even CoD is what it is because of the Xbox. It wouldnt be as big if MS didnt push for it to be. The funny thing is that I still poke fun of people wanting to keep things traditional. Every time someone bitches about game manual disappearing or digital games not being released physically or people who hate downloading games, I laugh because its so antiquated and no matter how hard they resist, it's the future. But online multiplayer is here to stay and its only going to get bigger. I'm not a fan. Thats why Im a Sony guy. Lots of great single player story driven games. Theyre almost catered to what I like.On the other side of the spectrum, Nintendo is TOO old fashioned. They dont even have a proper fucking account system. Fucking idiots. deanb
Oh wait I lied. There was one moment of awkwardness when the guy quite straightly states that the Halo franchise is what led to their console and online success and is keeping them going. 13 years, still on one franchise. Bit of a crutch. Not like they're even aiming for variety with like "Master Chief Tennis" "Halo Kart" Dr Arbiter" and such. edit: Yeah Overdrive looked quite neat, but for me Xbox stuff has either always been on PC anyway, or been way too shooty focused. Always with the shooting. In fact I think most of the games they showed had you shooting.

It reminded me a little of Kentucky Route Zero, and i loved LIMBO so i'm totally hot for this game.
Mister Jack
I'm sure Nintendo will have more than enough E3 awkwardness to make up for Microsoft's competence this year.
TheMightyEthan
Inside is exciting, and total sploosh for Master Chief Collection. I'm 100% with SL regarding online multiplayer though. Every once in a while there'll be an exception (like Titanfall), but not often.
Strangelove
I wish EA just skipped the sports stuff. Ugh.
toxicitizen
So sports, Battlefield, Mirror's Edge, Dragon Age... what else? Mass Effect, maybe?
Mister Jack
That Star Wars trailer was some weak shit, but I don't know what I was expecting. I knew they weren't going to do a gameplay demo.

TheMightyEthan
At least they acknowledged Star Wars at the beginning, that's a good sign, even if it wasn't detailed.

TheMightyEthan
I think if they were going to announce that trilogy they would have done it in that little Bioware trailer they just showed. Too bad.
toxicitizen
Gahahaha, fucking nothing from Bioware. Not even titles or announcements. Guess EA needed something to fill out that hour? Jesus, what a joke.

Mister Jack
Well Criterion ruined their announcement in the very first sentence when they said they were moving past driving cars.
TheMightyEthan
I thought the same thing, but then they showed a guy jump out of a helicopter onto an ATV, after which his helicopter crashed on top of his opponent, so that got me a little bit more interested. TheRevanchist
I might be biased (okay, I am a fucking biased sheep), but that Star Wars made me as happy as Al Bundy at the nudie bar.
