L4D was bland the one time I tried it. I guess its a game thats only good with multiple players, since solo is boring as hell. Honestly, it felt like Spec Ops - theres nothing wrong with the gameplay, its servicable, but theres nothing special about it either. At least Spec Ops had the great story and art design to fall back on. L4D had none of that.

L4D is entirely about the 4 player co-op with best friends.

With that, it's a masterpiece; without friends, it's decent; by yourself, it's terrible. It wasn't made to be played solo.

Evolved will be the same, no doubt. Though the design, even at a basic level, is so much more interesting than L4D's ever was.

L4D and Spec Ops aren't really comparable at all. That's like comparing Quake 3 Arena with Half Life: they're contemporaries, but one is a multiplayer classic and one's a singleplayer classic.

We're not on 4chan/reddit/whatever shit hole you're getting this attitude from. Provide something other than ad hominem.

Pot, kettle.

Calm yourself.

Oh please, you're trying to tell me that was a sarcastic comment? Of course that's  what they're going to fallback on but it's far too kneejerk for that to be true.

@FDS:  No, I'm trying to tell you that you've got yourself an attitude.  Your initial comment started off with "Are you that bad at forming your own opinion?", so it's hardly surprising that TCP responded with hostility.

Perhaps if they provided their own thoughts instead of parroting someone who makes a career out of riding the latest internet bandwagon I wouldn't need to make such comments in the first place. It's hard to believe people still react this badly to DLC. You mean post-game content that hasn't been created yet costs money to develop? Who would have thought? Plus in this game you're not even sectioned off from the rest of the community. Everyone gets whatever maps they put out and can play against/with the hunters/monsters that are DLC. You just can't play as them. Seems fair enough.

Looking at the website... they're dropping a whole new game+ as DLC. Base game got four six? twelve hunters and three monsters (I'm only seeing two monsters on the website?) at $60. Lets say you get the PC Monster Race pack at $99, it will net you an additional six hunters and two monsters. If you get the pack that is a step down at $79 then you get four more hunters and one more monster. Note, I'm ignoring skins since those are just bullshit cosmetic.

I guess that is one way around having to make Evolve 2 in a year or two... I think? If they want to fuck early adopters over they could announce Evolve 2 soon after the fifth monster. Shit will fly if that happens. If they play it cool, they will support this game for a while. It only makes sense (in my mind) due to all the DLC content (which includes free maps, which is cool).

In the end, it's other people money so they can do whatever the fuck they want with it. I'm personally waiting this one out til a sale. This game can potentially have a long life on PC even if an Evolve 2 comes out (Map creator with Steam Workshop comes to mind). Worst comes worst is that I deck it out with blinged out veterans.

Edit: Maybe there's more hunters than I though? Base game got twelve. Three for each four classes.

I'm assuming you haven't watched the video then? Because it's not about just the DLC itself but rather about how this game is going about selling it pre-release. I don't personally have that much of an issue with it but I certainly understand why some do. I mean, the game advertised pre-order DLC before it even got a proper reveal. That kinda tells you their priorities are a little bit messed up here.

I'm taking issue with the unnecessary insult, nothing more.

I'm tempted to say "FDS gonna FDS", but I do agree it gets a little tedious sometimes. I totally take the point that Jimquisition isn't "objectively correct" and that people should think for themselves before deciding whether or not to agree with him but the delivery was way off. But there is no evidence that Cowboy didn't think through that before posting.
