Huh. Looks interesting. I mean I'm not a fan of live-action trailers for games at all... But it's enough to know what Bioware's new IP is actually about. I'll be curious to see more. I'm a big Bioware fan despite their failings with some of their more recent games. I'll generally give them the benefit of the doubt though.

Yeah, not a fan of live-action either but for such an early teaser I don't really have an issue with it. It's when it's supposed to be a proper unveiling or closer to launch that it bugs me. At that point, it's really not what I want to see.

But I'm with you, I have my issues with Bioware but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on a new IP.

I wonder if it's going to be another RPG or if they're going to tread into some different ground... It would be intersting to see them try something completely new, although I do love a good Bioware RPG. The trailer would seem to suggest it's set in a more present-day era though, so I wonder.

Of course this is all speculation now, we basically know nothing and I'm willing to bet it won't be out till late 2015 at the earliest. They're just getting the hype train chugging!

Mostly the theme. Nightmare and Shadow Realm/Lord don't seem too far removed from each other. It could be unrelated, I actually hope it is, but it looks like there's a real possibility that it's not.

And yeah, Gamescom seems like a safe bet. That's in what, a couple weeks?

If it is either of those things I will have immediately lost interest. I've never enjoyed a MOBA before (not that I've ever really tried, the barrier to entry on things like Dota and LOL these days is far too high) and F2P... Well we all know EA's track record with that particular venture.

Yeah, no combination of words makes me lose interest in a game faster than free-to-play.

Although the MOBA part was just me speculating, those seem to be all the rage right now. I honestly don't get why everyone's making them. We sure as shit don't need more... Is it just about trying to get that Dota/LoL money? Did the industry seriously learn nothing from their complete failure when they similarly tried to go after WoW?

The only MOBA that's ever held my interest was Monday Night Combat.

There was also a Starcraft 2 custom gametype that I really liked, where you controlled spaceships.  It also had permadeath, no respawning, so that was interesting.

Have EA said they're working on a MOBA yet? I'm trying to think who else is making one...

So Blizzard/Activision have one... Gearbox are doing one, therefore: 2k... Dead Island is getting one, therefore... Deep Silver? I forget.

Edit: Yeah EA have a MOBA in the works... Dawngate. http://www.ea.com/uk/dawngate

So presumably this isn't one.

Yeah, that's what I thought. :(

Oh well, nothing to see here. For all we know, it might not even be a "real" Bioware title. Just another team with the Bioware brand slapped onto it. Like that Command & Conquer game, Generals 2 was it? That was canned, right?

Guh, if it is free to play I wonder what exactly it is they're going for. The theme at least looks intriguing and the horror elements seem interesting... So how will that fit into a F2P structure? Among those domains was indeed shadowrealmsf2p.com or something similar so it seems fairly conclusive.

What the fuck is up with EVERYONE doing a MOBA? Jeeez. Use your brain...it's the same with the running after COD...do something unique!

Anyway, yeah...hope it isn't a fucking MOBA...and hope it isn't f2p. But...I do have other games in my sights that have me pumped, so won't be that big of a deal I guess.

And Bioware? I'll be curious to see if they can do better than what they have been doing the last few years. I'm not pissed at them over DA II and the Mass Effect saga...just not a big fan anymore. But doesn't mean I've written them off.

ETA: Oh, so it may be from one of their "bioware" for pretend studios. GUH!

That's the thing, we don't know that it's a MOBA but the F2P part kinda limits what it could be.

I seriously doubt it's another MMO and I can't really see it being a shooter either. What does that leave outside of MOBA? Perhaps some kind of ARPG? Now that I think about it, that's much closer to Bioware's wheelhouse and could be kind of interesting.

F2P doesn't instantly switch me off... TF 2, although it started life as a paid game, is a wonderful f2p game so long as you don't care about the cosmetics and you find a server of nice, experienced people who are fun to play with...

Dota, on the other hand, I've dipped into and again, I respect the business model and how wildly successful it is but I just cannot get into it.

Yeah, same for me. I tried Dota 2 and it's just not my kind of game. I almost kinda wish it was, honestly. The people that get into it seem to get really into it. It's not uncommon to see Dota 2 players with thousands of hours of playtime. It kinda feels like I'm missing out on something big.

I agree with the feeling that I'm missing out on something.  And I didn't mean that F2P is an irreversible turn-off, but it's handled badly so much more often than it's handled well that I'm predisposed against liking the game, they'll have to go a long way to winning me over.

Oh totally, I've seen few, if any, good examples of f2p done outside of Valve HQ. I've been told Path of Exile was good, but yeah.

Yeah I feel like I'm missing out on Dota as well, especially when I saw just how many people were into The International in such a big way, I watched a couple of rounds of it and it looked mighty impressive but I just couldn't get into it myself. It's too intimidating really.

Yeah, I'd probably be more inclined to give the game a serious shot if I could get into the competitive scene. I mean, I don't follow the StarCraft 2 scene religiously but I enjoy watching pro matches every now and then. It helps that I like the game but, even if I wasn't already familiar with it, it's pretty easy to understand what's happening on-screen. Two distinct races fighting each other, fairly easy to follow.

But whenever I watch Dota 2 stuff, I just have no idea what the fuck is going on.
