TCP
The Last of Us is getting turned into a film! Casting will be key for this but I agree with the general consensus for Hugh Jackman as Joel. As for Ellie, I think they'll have to go unknown.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Hugh Jackman wouldn't be believable enough for me. I don't care how close the actor looks. I care about them actually pulling off the necessary performance.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I can't see Hugh Jackman being a good Joel. In fact I think that would be a pretty terrible casting decision.
TCP
You know what Ethan, I think you're a terrible casting decision!!!!
TheMightyEthan
I've been trying to think, and I can't decide who would be good in that role. The only one I can come up with is Bill Paxton, but even he doesn't seem very good for it.
Hot Heart
Hugh Jackman's great, screw you! Timothy Olyphant as Joel, the girl who plays Loretta as Ellie, and Walton Goggins as David. Just use everyone from Justified, yeah.
TheMightyEthan
Timothy Olyphant isn't old/rugged enough seeming.
TheMightyEthan
Oh, I know! Stephen Lang.
Hot Heart
Timothy Olyphant is in his forties. Films have hair and make-up departments to help with being more dishevelled. Plus, it's Hollywood, they'll probably cast Joel younger (and possibly even Ellie older).
TheMightyEthan
No, it's his actual bone structure, and the shape of his eyes especially. I didn't mean he's not actually old enough, he just doesn't have that rugged aged quality to his facial features. It's something that, to get it to seem right to me at least, would require so much makeup to fix you'd basically be talking about prosthetics. Like if you were making him a Klingon or something. TheMightyEthan
Having seen more of current old Bill Paxton in Marvel Agents of Shield last night, I now believe he would be good as Joel.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Having seen more of current old Bill Paxton in Marvel Agents of Shield last night, I now believe he would be good as Joel. He falls into the category of "actors who you can't not see them as that actor" like Brad Pitt or George Clooney. I vote for someone unknown. TheMightyEthan
Well yeah, I agree someone unknown would be best, I was just meaning among actors in familiar with. I can't cast someone I don't know about.
TCP
Well, Maisie Williams, AKA Arya Stark, is in talks to be Ellie. Now all we need is Hugh Jackman.
Connorrrr
I don't watch Game of Thrones so I can't speak for the quality of her acting and whether she's suited to the role. Having said that, looking at the picture in that article, she looks the part. I just hope a movie doesn't ruin this franchise(?) like so many other films do. The Last of Us might just be one of the greatest story driven games I've ever played, if not the best. You'd think it would translate well to a movie, but it's all in the execution I suppose.
