Hot Heart
Probably not. That's why we need more Sif!
TheFlyingGerbil
I guess the water's still not safe even though the sharks have been sucked out of it.
Waldorf and Statler
that movie doesn't interest me due to the obvious "i'm gonna capitalize from how bad the first was by making it intentionally bad"
TheFlyingGerbil
i did read he genuinely thinks he's making good films, but you never know what to believe, do you?
Waldorf and Statler
The first movie I'd believe you.
Mister Jack
This isn't really a trailer but we don't seem to have an upcoming movie discussion thread so I'ma just stick this here. This is Pixar's new movie, Inside Out. It's about an 11 year old girl and the manifestations of her various emotions that live inside her head. From left to right there's Fear, Sadness, Joy, Disgust, and Anger. Interestingly enough, Anger is voiced by Lewis Black. Let's hope this is a return to form for them. Pixar has been in a bit of a slump for these last few years.
danielpholt
It's unfair to judge from one image, but fuck it i'm going to do it anyway. This looks a little generic. Also, Super Meat Boy.
Hot Heart
New Ridley Scott film based on a Cormac McCarthy screenplay (his first original).
deanb
Seems it's going for sort of "isolation thriller" type, not sure how well it'd work. But I guess the closest we'll get to this film:
TheMightyEthan
Someone needs to make a movie about this RIGHT NOW. *Edit* - That movie looks completely ridiculous, but like it doesn't know it's ridiculous. Though I am impressed they got the physics right, with her continuing to flip after she detaches from the arm. Waldorf and Statler
that's like elementary physics though. To be fair the majority of Hollywood films I've seen with people flying through space they tend to have boosters of some sort to control their movement. TheMightyEthan
I know it's really basic physics, but Hollywood almost always gets really basic physics wrong. I'd link to TV Tropes on Hollywood physics, but they're down for maintenance right now.
deanb
You have 15 seconds to comply. Also just an explosion? The original RoboCop was so graphic in "killing" of Murphy MGM have blocked all videos of it...
Mal
He lives happily ever after...? This Murphy seem to keep his wife and kid. The old Murphy didn't. He was for all intent and purposes dead. Nigga got his brains blown out and shit! New Murphy looks like a severely injuries Iraq vet (Not saying what they went through is childs play...). SO NO. I will not comply. Directive FUCK NO.
deanb
Yeah, he looks substantially less dead too. Dunno if it's just the old effects but old Murphy came across much more "I'm essentially a near-dead guy, powering a robot suit", new guy is near Iron Man-like. Also it does seem they're trying to go for an allegory with drone strikes/US war in middle east. At least the trailer gives this impression. It'll be a good watch no doubt, but I think it's going for a different angle. Certainly can't go with "detroit is fucked" cos documentaries are out of style.
Thursday Next
Yeah, not keen on him having a face. Makes him too human. In fact the whole Alex Murphy death/torture scene is hugely dehumanising. It's what, like 10 minutes long? He has his arm removed is literally shot to pieces. It's also a bit stupid/convenient that 80% of his body has 4th degree burns, but his face and right hand apparently have 0th degree burns. TheMightyEthan
Here's another copy of the trailer, for some reason the one you linked stuttered really bad for me (when fully buffered, and it was always at exactly the same parts):
Mr. GOH!
It's Robocop as made by people who never really understood Robocop. Which is kinda sad, because Verhoeven is not exactly the most subtle of directors.
Hot Heart
Robocop was originally American Jesus. The death scene has parallels and, of course, he walks on water at the end.
Mister Jack
Fourth degree burns are a thing?
Strangelove
This movie seems like what I thought Robocop was about when I was 6 years old. Just another action movie. Lame.
Thursday Next
Fourth degree burns are a thing? That's what I thought. I checked on Wikipedia and apparently they are. Of course now that they are a thing RebootCop 2 will have to feature 5th degree burns over 110% of his body.
TheMightyEthan
Fuckin burns are the worst thing ever, and I'm pretty sure I've never had one worse than 2nd-degree.
Mister Jack
I burned my hand once by (stupidly) touching a lawnmower for about two seconds and that mother was in nonstop agony for days. Burns are a real bitch.
TheMightyEthan
One time my mower died because of too much grass building up underneath, so I lifted it to get some of that out. I turned off the mower, I'm not that dumb, but in the process of lifting it I grabbed it right on the muffler. I had blisters spelling "HOT" backward right across my palm.
