deanb
So some trailers from the recent cinema visit. PG/U mind. Seems somewhat aimed at the US. This looks like it could be okay. Certainly one of the weirder superhero origin stories (Ryan Reynolds, in a film where he has super powers. Can't go wrong!)
deanb
Now I've not watched much Breaking Bad, just snippets of when housemate is watching it, but I'm pretty sure Aaron Paul is slimmer in it than he is here. He's not like fat, but his face is filled out. Also going from need for speed to another need for speed. Bit typecast eh?
madbassman39
Doesn't look terrible. Although as long as there is racing in this movie, and some kind of rival drama, then you are pretty accurate to the Need For Speed games. Thursday Next
...could be interesting? I have time for Underworld, Eckhart and Nighy. Looks like a fun little movie.
Waldorf and Statler
The movie had such potential. I remember reading an explanation like 2-3 years ago that said something like " Frankenstein ['s Monster] is a detective in a noir city" and I was thinking that if done right it could be a good movie. From the team who brought you such movies you kinda find a guilty pleasure such as Underworld, and the writer who watched Priest and other generic action movies with bad CG and said to himself "I can write something like that" comes a movie that is so straight to the sales-bin looking you're surprised it wasn't a direct to dvd release. Speaking of reading about movies with a lot of potential has anybody heard anything about that modern peter pan movie? The one where Captain Hook is a detective and needs to investigate the incidents of a man [Peter Pan] who kidnaps children? Hot Heart
I'd only watch for Strahovski...even if her role looks like helpless damsel. I don't remember hearing about the detective angle, but I know the guy who wrote Underworld and such is the writer here (along with Stuart Beattie of Collateral, Pirates 1 and...GI Joe). The film's been delayed for over a year because of special effects (and likely clashing with films that people want to see) that I would drastically lower your expectations. deanb
Amazing Spider-man 2 trailer. Seems they're going to throw several enemies at him, which we all know went swimmingly for Spiderman 3.
TheMightyEthan
The problems with Spider Man 3 were not the enemies.
Hot Heart
Spider-Man 3 was my favourite. I ain't even lyin'. Well, I'll clarify. It was an entertaining comedy...on two levels: intentional and unintentional. But really, I just never cared much for the other two. The new films have their problems, but I prefer what they're doing with the character, and the action's a lot better.
Strangelove
That actually was the big major problem, too many enemies and no time to develop any of them. not to mention that this 3rd one had a lot of things to close up as the end of the trilogy and then add the usual relationship stuff with Harry, Mary Jane and Aunt May. There just wasnt any time for any of it, so any time one of the characters did something, they explained it in a very quick and totally ineffective way. Which is all sad since a lot of their ideas seemed to be pretty big and if there had been a 4th one, it would have shifted almost everything. It would have been its own reboot of sorts. And on another note, maybe its because Spiderman is my favorite superhero, but I still dont get why people hate Spiderman 3 so much. Its dumb, but its pretty entertaining. It didnt rape the franchise or anything like Batman Forever and B&R did to Burton's Batman films. Spiderman 3 wasnt so radically different from 1 and 2. It was just uneven as shit. Its not good, but it really isnt the monstrosity people make it out to be. Edited December 5, 2013 by Strangelove
TCP
I still think Amazing Spiderman is the best of the bunch, and this trailer got me even more excited for the sequel. I see a lot of people online saying there's too many villains but it's important to note that Rhino is just in the beginning and how the Osbornes factor isn't know yet. "Amazing Spider-Man 2" is a silly title, I would have called it Spectacular Spider-Man or Sensational Spider-Man. Then they could name the third or fourth film Ultimate Spider-Man and have Peter Parker die in the end, with the next film featuring Miles Morales. God, why am I not a film executive? Hot Heart
Plus, I think they're just trying to set up some future stuff for the franchise. See here.
deanb
I didn't even need to pause, those were quite obvious. I'm not sure what they're for there, I think some of the implication is that this film is set some years after the first Amazing Spider-Man and after confrontations with other baddies. Apparently the trailer also gives a shot that's quite clearly "that gwen stacey moment" too, but guess we'll have to wait for the film to see if that'll be the case (it likely will be the case). Hot Heart
Well, yeah, I just linked that because it was easy to find. Seems to imply that Oscorp. is the franchise's villain-generator. Must be some other developments going on, and probably the Gwen Stacey thing, seeing as they also shifted Mary Jane from this film to the next.
