Thursday Next
Ah didn't notice the page swap. I will say, no Will Smith is probably a +. No Will Smith is definitely A+++. They haven't cast his kid as his kid have they? It's the sort of thing I can imagine Hollywood doing. EDIT: They have not. They cast some dude called Jesse Usher. TCP
I had read something somewhere that the reason he didn't want to be involved is they didn't want to cast his son as his character's son. I don't know if that's true not but I like it so I've decided to believe it.
deanb
I heard he's wanting to stay out of sci-fi and sequels for a while. Which is understandable given his last sci-fi film was alongside Jayden.
Mal
Reading more of that site, which is even shitty on a PC, there was a ground war of sort with survivors in the Congo. Took about ten years to take them all out. I totally would've like to see a movie based on that. It would've been like XCOM The Movie. It would've totally setup the premise of the coming movie.

deanb
I'm intrigued I think.
TheMightyEthan
Cloverfield sequel. The title is stupid as hell, but the rest looks like it could be interesting. As I was watching it I was thinking "this could just as easily be a trailer for a Fallout movie."
TCP
It's not found footage? Weird. Also, Romana Flowers!
Mr. GOH!
It's not a real Cloverfield sequel, I've heard. There are rumblings from indie movie folks that it's a low budget horror/thriller movie that was fully shot and edited sometime in 2014 for Paramount's low-budget film distribution subsidiary, which was shut down before 2015. The rumors also seem to be that new schenes were written, shot, and shoehorned in during early 2015 to make it related to Cloverfield. TCP
Shoehorning a movie into an unrelated franchise after production has initially wrapped is the sign of a good movie.
deanb
I guess it's a thing. Looks a bit flat to me, but I guess we'll see going forwards. Also being a "reboot" but also referencing the originals is a bit weird.
Mister Jack
DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH WHO YA GONNA CALL? This movie looks painful. Special effects are okay, I'll give them that, but Jesus Christ, some of those lines made me cringe.
deanb
I though the use of CGI was terrible in the trailer. The old films had great effects but they were practical composited in. Had quite an ethereal feeling to them. This was solid 3D items floating in the scene.
Mister Jack
Yeah, well, I think we all knew the moment this movie was announced that they weren't going to go to that kind of trouble. Not in this day and age.

deanb
What a mixed bag of films in that "from the studio that brought you" list.
danielpholt
I'm still a little unsure about it, but if it can live up to that trailer I think I'll be happy.
Mal
Since it's Berserk, it has a neat CGI look to it and since it's not a rehash of the Golden Age arc. Carefully optimistic.

TheMightyEthan
It's weird that they made the Animus that weird armature thing. Maybe they thought it was too much like the Matrix otherwise?
deanb
I'm really hopeful for this, seems they're doing really well in picking up what to retain from the games and what to change. The new animus is the big one, since watching someone laying down for a chunk of the film would suck, and would help in better explaining the "bleed" effect that allowed Desmond to escape Abstergo n later fight off Templars in ACII. It's much more visual compelling too, as a gamer you don't care that your PC is laying down on the job with a video game controller in hand. The parkour is suitably unreal, and loving the bit at the end and hoping that he lands in a pile of hay and makes nothing of it. Some nods to like picking up feathers or something would be neat. Also the graphics with all those NPCs on screen is amazing!! And hey for the time period...no one expected the spanish inquisition My only issue is the music choice. Also seemingly no Danny Wallace (at least yet, but totally needs to be in the sequel)
