TheMightyEthan
I don't like the new Animus, it seems over complicated and dumb, though it would do more to explain the bleed effectively. I also don't think it needed to be visually compelling, the Matrix did just fine with people lying down. Presumably when he's in the animus the film will focus on the past rather than the present. Mr. GOH!
I just wonder if it will be better or worse than the WoW movie. I don't expect this to be very good at all. I also would not be surprised if it's bumped to a January or February release.
Mister Jack
Ratchet and Clank was my last hope for a decent video game movie and they fucked it up beyond belief. I am never giving a game movie the benefit of the doubt again. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Mr. GOH!
Why would anyone think that the Ratchet & Clank movie would be any good? I've not played the games, but the movie looked like a kinda dumb kids' movie. I mean, that's the problem with any video game movie; often what makes for a compelling game is the gameplay, so taking that away results in a hollow shell. It's part of why I think AssCreed will be a dumb movie. The fiction has been fun (although the Animus stuff has been pretty minimal in the most recent games), but the stories are only good for video games, not when compared with other scripted media. Mister Jack
It was made by the devs so there was no chance of the movie betraying the spirit of the franchise. Unfortunately they just recycled a bunch of cutscenes from the game, which is far better, and added some shit to loosely tie it together. MetalCaveman
"Crowley said the movie will take place 65 percent in the present and 35 percent in the past" Was hoping for more focus on the past, but the trailer made the present stuff look cool, so, still optimistic about this one. deanb
In the games, a lot of the game happens in the past, but of the relevance of the actual plot most of that does happen in the future/present* (though as noted the more recent ones post-Desmond kinda ditch that). I imagine it would also be humongously cheaper to set most of the film in the present too. The general plot of a lot of the past stuff is "play through your ancestor so we can find out where they hid the piece of eden/location of a temple" or whatever. It has kinda lost itself on the fact the templars do seem to have kind of won in the form of multi-national companies that are able to develop this kind of tech and randomly grab people off the street with little fuss. *Past now I guess.
TheMightyEthan
Well as far as Templars winning, the games tell a history of a back and forth between each side, with sometimes Templars being ascendant until a new great Assassin comes along and takes them out and rebuilds the Brotherhood. So I've always just taken it as we're in a time of Templar ascendency right now, but not that it's necessarily permanent.

deanb
Now this is a proper teaser trailer. Cast alone should make it pretty decent and damn that music is great.
deanb
This looks fun. Also Dwayne Johnson is popping up in so many movies of late. It wouldn't be surprising the resolution of Infinity War just The Rock doing a clothesline on Thanos. Also it's coming out on "Thanksgiving" cos we all know when that is. TheMightyEthan
Does look fun. Let's hope it's not as sexist as the Lava short from Inside Out (which was a fantastic movie).
Hot Heart
Not entirely sold by this, but I like McDonagh's previous stuff.

deanb
Starting to flesh out the story somewhat than just the 'hey it's more of the HP universe" stuff they've had so far. I'm certainly up for giving it a shot, HP films have never really done a "bad one" so doubt they'll start now.

deanb
Guardians trailer out. I imagine it'll be pants but probably the kind of thing to be picked up by Netflix given internet hype.
deanb
So here's a fan cut trailer of the "trailer" for Ghost in the Shell And the actual "trailer" which folks have noted is more a string of teasers all shat out in one go. So here's a fan cut trailer of the "trailer" for Ghost in the Shell
deanb
Was listening to Empire podcast n they were talking about this, sounded good so checked the trailer n seems kinda fun Also there's this film about a crowd funded film that the creators abscond with the money. But the film is funded by crowdfunding and the creators pretended they'd absconded with the money. I imagine you have to have funded the film to be invested(not in that sense) in this.
