I don't like the new Animus, it seems over complicated and dumb, though it would do more to explain the bleed effectively.  I also don't think it needed to be visually compelling, the Matrix did just fine with people lying down.  Presumably when he's in the animus the film will focus on the past rather than the present.

Why would anyone think that the Ratchet & Clank movie would be any good? I've not played the games, but the movie looked like a kinda dumb kids' movie. I mean, that's the problem with any video game movie; often what makes for a compelling game is the gameplay, so taking that away results in a hollow shell. It's part of why I think AssCreed will be a dumb movie. The fiction has been fun (although the Animus stuff has been pretty minimal in the most recent games), but the stories are only good for video games, not when compared with other scripted media.

In the games, a lot of the game happens in the past, but of the relevance of the actual plot most of that does happen in the future/present* (though as noted the more recent ones post-Desmond kinda ditch that). I imagine it would also be humongously cheaper to set most of the film in the present too. The general plot of a lot of the past stuff is "play through your ancestor so we can find out where they hid the piece of eden/location of a temple" or whatever. It has kinda lost itself on the fact the templars do seem to have kind of won in the form of multi-national companies that are able to develop this kind of tech and randomly grab people off the street with little fuss.

*Past now I guess.

Well as far as Templars winning, the games tell a history of a back and forth between each side, with sometimes Templars being ascendant until a new great Assassin comes along and takes them out and rebuilds the Brotherhood. So I've always just taken it as we're in a time of Templar ascendency right now, but not that it's necessarily permanent.

Was listening to Empire podcast n they were talking about this, sounded good so checked the trailer n seems kinda fun

Also there's this film about a crowd funded film that the creators abscond with the money. But the film is funded by crowdfunding and the creators pretended they'd absconded with the money.

I imagine you have to have funded the film to be invested(not in that sense) in this.
