Thursday Next
Seemed Dean was saying that people don't understand the premise. Not disputing for a moment that it is total baloney.
deanb
I was saying that people knowing that the "10%" stuff is faux-science shit is what pulls people out. It's like being gamers watching two people on screen playing a clearly single-player game, or [all computer things].
TheMightyEthan
I remember watching Three Ninjas as a kid and toward the beginning they're playing some kind of weird Mario 3 where they could play at the same time (one was Mario and one was Luigi) and I wanted that game SO BAD.
Hot Heart
The little two-player mini-game in Mario 3 was THE BOMB. We used to play it as a survival mode and it ruled.
deanb
Me n my sis used to play it loads. Was pretty fun, we'd make all kinds of rules up for it n such, and inevitably betray the other by throwing a whatever they were at the other person. TheMightyEthan
I'm not talking about the minigame, they were playing the actual levels 2-player, NSMB style. It was nuts!
deanb
Slight flaw in their plan of "proving monsters exist": The big ass fight between Godzilla and Mutos. Though I guess this might be set beforehand, I'd guess maybe Vietnam war era (based on the music, the olde-timey slides at the start n helicopters)
deanb
It's a Transformers film, you'll either see it or not. We had a professional amusement over it given it has about 7 different aspect ratios in the trailer alone. Are you my mummy?
Thursday Next
They actually cast someone of North African descent to play a character of North African descent... Will wonders never cease? Also, as this is a Tom "I have a middle tooth" Cruise vehicle, it should be called The Runny.
TCP
They actually cast someone of North African descent to play a character of North African descent... Will wonders never cease? Also, as this is a Tom "I have a middle tooth" Cruise vehicle, it should be called The Runny. That's incredible. At this rate, maybe North American First Nation people will be able to actually play First Nation characters. deanb
I'm not sure how I feel on the progress of the Apes series. The first with Franco was I think a great surprise for all, but apart from a few cool scenes can't even wholly remember much of the last one, and kinda feel this might be just an extension of the last film really. New trailer for The Founder too, though seems much the same of the last I guess it's mainly a "this film is upcoming", it did seem an age since the first trailer came out. And a Netflix film, should be out now actually.

deanb
Nolans latest. And weirdly for a WWII film a very non-US view.
CorgiShinobi
I noticed a lower amount of Minions, which is most definitely intentional given that I believe Illumination realizes Minions have lost most of their appeal. I never hated them, but much like zombies, I don't want to see an overabundance. Gru and Lucy were great in 2, so I would expect them to be alright in this film. deanb
"we are the self preservation society". No idea who the third guy is tbh, I've a feeling he'll maybe drag bits down based on the trailer.

deanb
I guess they took on some criticism of the first and decided to include a few riffs from the original. Also first look of Cranston as Zordon, Bill Hader as Alpha, and the Megazord.
deanb
So seems an interesting premise, something that I'm to understand that the Japanese Godzilla kinda covered a while back, though not in such a comical sense. Also it's weird that "big monsters" are in.
deanb
Could be interesting, not that the trailer gives much away. Film is a "romantic sci-fi". From wiki: "Soon after the existence of the afterlife has been scientifically proven, the son (Jason Segel) of the man (Robert Redford) who made the discovery falls in love with a woman (Rooney Mara) with a tragic past." Also people start killing themselves to get to the afterlife.
deanb
Johnny Cash is hot right now (like my ring of fire. It burns burns burns). Also FUCKING MEMORIAL DAY RELEASE. AARGH. What's that in Metric?!?!? It sounds like this might be good, and very self aware of itself. Also Dwayne "Alcatraz" Johnson is scoring a lot of points of late. Hey, another familiar song: New Life trailer. Not really feeling this one, feels like just a mash of a bunch of already familiar films. And Ryan Reynolds is feeling a bit too Deadpool now, gonna be a while to shake that off I think.
