What ending did you get? (since I assume there's a couple excluding death)

I had him finally reach the peak, where he found a cobbled together PC system, managed to hail a ship, find his rats (now possessed), meets his dead crew (now possessed), sorta escapes and rescues captain in the pod.

Replaying now and gonna see if he can bury the crew.

Same ending. My deaths before getting that are...

The first time I death marched him to the peak. The other time was him getting possessed at the peak. I think a couple times I almost lost him from the peak to the rescue since he was going crazy. I don't think we got the "best" ending. It's just so abrupt.

Now that I have an idea what the peak is doing and whats the creatures are, I think I can guide him to the other outcomes. And I doubt burying the crew will do much considering their strength. When I think about it, I don't think I ever found the crew that showed up at the peak. I found the bits back in the ship but they might be of some other crew.

Just from trying different options straight away a lot of the decisions don't make any difference. The first response after changes and then the rest up to the next decision are the same so I wouldn't get your hopes up for a radically different outcome.

Life is Strange.

Might as well make a post here, too. Episode 5 came out a couple days ago so I finally got up to date and finished it. Overall, it was a very good series. I certainly loved it more than anything I've played from Telltale. Although, to be fair, I haven't yet gotten around to playing any of their more recent stuff like Dead S2, GoT or Borderlands.

But even then, the characters in Life is Strange felt like they had a lot more depth to them. I actually cared about them, way more than I did about anyone in TWD. It just felt like an entirely different level of writing quality. I mean, the ending of Walking Dead S1 was a downer but it didn't make me tear up or anything like that. Life is Strange actually did.

It seems to have done well enough sales-wise (sold over half a million copies on Steam alone, according to SteamSpy), so I really hope Dontnod can follow it up with another season. They've already said their plan is for an anthology setup where each season features a different story and a different cast and I'm really curious to see what they would follow this up with. Like, which elements are considered core to the series rather than just specific to this first season? Would a second season even bring back the rewind mechanic or would it focus on something entirely different?

My guess would be that another season wouldn't bring back the rewind mechanic, except that that mechanic was (kind of) in Remember Me too, so it might be something they really want to keep playing with.  Though it could go the other way and they could say "okay, we've explored this idea enough, let's move on to something else".

Either way, I'm really looking forward to where they go from here.  Remember Me seemed like it had some really good ideas that were hindered by forcing it into an action game, but it definitely seems that they learned from that mistake.

Yeah, the rewind mechanic really felt like a logical evolution of the memory remixing from Remember Me. Especially when you have to rewind a scene until you find the correct combination of actions to produce the desired outcome. It's pretty much the same idea, just in a different context.

I really wanted to love Remember Me but the repetitive, boring combat brought it down to "just kind of liked it" level. Looking at Life is Strange now, it really makes me wonder if shoehorning combat into it was something demanded by Capcom in exchange for backing the game financially.

Like, Remember Me was clearly built as an action game overall but the combat really didn't feel like it received the same level of attention as everything else. Other than that pointless combo customization stuff, it's pretty shallow and underdeveloped. But the story was pretty good, I thought, and the art direction was some of the best I've seen last gen.

Double Dragon Neon.

Got this one a little while back, from some bundle, I think. Gave it a quick try back then, thought it seemed a bit shit and turned it off before finishing the first level. Fast-forward to now and between rewatching a bunch of AVGN videos and playing AVGN Adventures, I felt like playing something old-school. So, I figured this was close enough and gave it another shot. Turns out it's actually pretty goddamn fun!

Right off the bat, I'm a huge sucker for the whole 80s nonsense shtick (think Blood Dragon), especially when it's accompanied by an appropriate soundtrack, so the game had that going for it. I also hadn't played a straight-up old-school brawler like this in ages and, even though I was never overly fond of the genre, it was pretty fun to play one after all these years.

Not much else to say, really. It's Double Dragon but more radical! Oh, and the ending theme is almost Revengeance levels of perfect.

Halo 5.

Gameplay wise it's really good, a massive improvement over Halo 4. Story wise it's not so good. The actual events are fine, I like where it takes the state of the universe, but the way it's presented has no tension, so it's not compelling as it unfolds. I might make a more detailed and spoiler filled post later when I'm not on my phone.

Wasteland 2 Director's Cut. Interesting and really full of that old-school vibe, even down to sort of ridiculous settings and story elements that would feel right at home in an early 90's game.

I play the game zoomed all the way out, so it looks fine, although my characters are kind of indistinct. You can outfit them with clothing hat makes each look distinct from the others without changing combat stats, which is nice.

Bow on to Divinity: Original Sin's enhanced edition until fallout 4.

Dragon Age Inquisition.

Good to get a big RPG wrapped up and out the way before starting on another. Not as good as DA:O, but still pretty solid. Kinda bummed for most part your party is largely AI controlled, but the fights go past so fast it'd be a nightmare to control tactically like DA:O. My Inquisitor went a bit funky towards the end, in fact the whole thing seems like a set-up for like DA 4 to be all "and then the Inquisition became too powerful for its own good and started a massive war on everyone, oh and elven gods came back so you're fucked now".

Rebel Galaxy

Kind of a surprise out the blue this one and been quite fun. I'm at the stage of the game where I've got the "Blackgate", a dreadnought class ship with like 14 turret points, 16 broadside cannons, and the turning circle of a moon. It's the most expensive ship in the game, though most of the price is in buying turrets to mount to it which is the point I'll call the game super finished (I've wrapped up the storyline, it's relatively simple and if it wasn't for needing to upgrade ships to progress you'd probably be able to do it in 30 minutes. Shame that at the end it takes away some of your upgrades. Not that you massively need them)

I just completed a little gem called Assassin's Creed Syndicate. What a game. Probably my favourite Assassin's Creed game... so what I'm trying to say is....

GAME OF THE YEAR! Wait, no. But it's OK.

But what we all want to know is ..ahem

Does Syndicate signify a return to form for the Assassin's Creed Franchise?

To me it felt like the true successor to the Ezio games. Very few glitches (though I did have a crash last night), no microtransactions besides speed up XP for 2 hours and stuff like that, likeable characters, decent enough story, and nice world. What's cool is the huge amount of side content that feels like it could be main missions. The coolest part of the game is actually a super secret sequence, that you should hopefully just discover naturally. The ending boss fight was super lame, I wish developers of these sorts of games would realize that final boss fights aren't always necessary.

Glad they're back on form though I never disliked one yet, so what do I know. Is the super secret mission missable? If it stays in game world or can be revisited via the sequences menu I'd hope to find it naturally but if it was missable is probably look it up

No, I think it opens in sequence 6, not sure if you never go into it in sequence 6 but it stayed open for me the whole way through. I'll spoil tag how to find it, without spoiling what it is:

On the extreme east side of the map, in the middle of the river, it looks like a glitch.

Fallout 4. Rolling up my next character tonight.

I really liked the game, but I was underwhelmed by the end game. it seemed easy and was not too exciting.

There are no cards at the end telling you what effect your choices have had on the people and factions in the game. This could be good, in theory, if the wasteland felt like your actions had changed it, but it does not. I sided with the Railroad, so I destroyed the Brohood and the Institute, and let the Minutemen just kinda exist. this next playthrough I will join the Brohood.

Halo 5.

That was an ending. :P Not as bad as Halo 2, but close. Disappointed with how few missions involve Blue Team, having Buck nearby is fun, but that's not who I want to see when playing Halo (unless it's ODST :P). Sad to see that Cortana is now the enemy of the galaxy, but still looking forward to 6.

Also, I assume Roland is cool? He's the only AI shown that doesn't side with Cortana (yet).

Game of Thrones Season 1.

Best Telltale game.

I chose to sacrifice Rodrick and have Asher be the new lord. I also chose to have Mira executed rather than marry the conniving merchant lord.

The game said that my choices were a mix between honorable and intuitive, I believe. I don't remember the percentage. I'm going to replay the whole thing with different choices. on my laptop, I think, because it seems like season 2 will be pretty different depending on who survived.

I sacrificed Asher, saved the youngest sibling and had Mira executed, although I naively thought they wouldn't go through with it.
