That UK Direct was enough to convince me to go out and put down an order for this game.  I inquired about the Amiibos too but those are still sold out.  I was fortunate enough to get an order in on the Inkling Girl a while back but now I kind of wish I had gotten the special edition with all three of them.  Oh well.

@FLD: Agarest sucks. I imported it from EU back before it was released in the US, and it was just . . . ugh. Maybe you can find something in it to enjoy, but as far as I'm concerned it was one of the worst if not the worst SRPG I've ever played. On a brighter note, I own Pier Solar for the same reason you bought it. Just haven't gotten around to it. Let me know how it is!

@Jack: I just hope all the fuss over the game isn't because of the lewd attention it's attracted.

Well, that's just... fuck. I'll give it a shot anyway, hopefully the lowered expectations will work in its favor. :P

What was so bad about it? Story? Mechanics?

As for Pier Solar, might not get to it for a little while since I'm not sure I'd be able to finish it before Witcher 3 next week, and even then I'd rather not play two RPGs back to back.

All of the battles were drawn out, and hardly required any actual strategy. Load times were terrible, too (maybe that won't be a factor on PC). The story was pretty bottom of the bucket stuff. Really, the only redeeming aspect I can think of is the whole progeny system (I don't remember what they actually called it). At the end of each sequence you choose a wife. You mate. You have a child. Your child inherits his abilities and appearance from his parents. The US version is a supposedly bit better due to a better translation, but I can't really vouch for it there. Ghostlight didn't do it any favors in that department.

More than anything, it's that it was one of those SRPGs that only appeared to be an SRPG. In execution, you just had the grid and followed the movements.

Did you get a chance to play the test fire? There's another one on Sat 23rd May. I don't play FPS games, but enjoyed it and the online worked well. Really on the fence about buying the game as I'm not sure how much I'd actually play it. Plus the weird situation with barely any of the actual game being released at launch.

Another US PSN Flash sale -

I've been up all night and now I'm just trying to stay awake as long as possible in an attempt to unfuck my sleep schedule. But it's 11 AM now and I'm getting kinda tired and bored, so I bought this.

Hopefully it'll keep me awake for a few more hours.

You guys just made some goddamn good decisions.

I've been in a retro/NES mood since I played Axiom Verge. At first I thought it might be fun to finally play the original Metroid on an emulator (I only played Super Metroid) but that unfortunately turned out to be a little too frustrating for me. Man, that game is hard as fuck.

Anyway, those two have been on my radar for a while, I've been hearing really good things about both. And they just so happen to both be among the current batch of weeklong deals on Steam, so that's pretty good timing.

Fun fact about Castle in the Darkness: much like Axiom Verge, it was made entirely by one guy. And that guy just so happens to be the lead artist that worked Binding of Isaac Rebirth.

I made it to Akihabara -nyo!

Odd port though. Serviceable but lacking in things that I would've expect XSEED to have down. Thing though is that I'm not exactly sure who made this port (of a port i.e. PS3=>PS4=>PC). Time to see if GeDoSaTo works on this game... it is capped to 30 fps so...

From what I understand, Acquire did the port in-house. So, XSEED aren't to blame for this one. Apparently they warned Acquire about port quality and all that stuff but it sounds like it turned out to be kinda meh anyway.

Anyway, I enjoyed it on Vita but I didn't really feel like it was worth full price. I'll double dip when it's on sale for 10-15 bucks.

(Steam version)

I'm loving terrible at it but of the fighting games I've played this one of my favorites (I've stuck with it longer than I did with Third Strike). Netcode/laws of physics can naturally be sketchy at times. It's a pretty solid port.

I actually got to play Xrd a bit the other day, too. For any of you that have played both of these games...does Xrd seem a little slower to you?

In this addition of MaliciousH's Anime Bullshit Chronicles:

I should also say that the port of Akiba is bad. There's no way around it because if the fps drops to 2 fps during visual novel based cutscenes, you done goof'd. There was instance where it bleed over to the game play. Until these frame rate issues are resolves, I just cannot recommend Akiba.

Nepnep though... I'll see. XSEED should've learned from Re;Birth1. I jumped on this since it was cheap enough for me. Now to wait for TitS:SC.

Holy shit, seriously? Guess I'll stay away for now then.

Let me know how the port is, I'm really tempted to get it while it's 50% off. I skipped the Vita version of this one when I found out about the Steam releases, so I've been waiting to play it for a few months.

Also, XSEED wouldn't have learned anything from Re;Birth 1 because XSEED had absolutely nothing to do with Re;Birth 1. This is Idea Factory and Compile Heart. :P

FYI, XSEED aren't a dev. They don't do ports or anything like that, only localization work. They only have like one programmer and, IIRC, she's not even full-time staff, they only contract her when they need to implement specific stuff, like Steam achievements or whatever. I think TiTS FC was the biggest thing she'd done for them yet.
