Cyclades

Greek Mythology-themed game in which you make offerings (bid gold) for favour of gods in order to reap their exclusive benefits (build armies/navies, take certain actions) all with an eye towards winning by possessing two metropoliseses... metropoliiii... metropoloose... two big city things.

The wrinkle is that to possess these you can either collect a set of four cards from one of the gods (so, win their favour four times and miss out on other benefits), build each of the four building types to become a metropolis or simply send in an army and seize someone else's. There are other elements in there like mythological creatures ("release the kraken!") to shake things up as well. Supposed to be pretty well-balanced and it sounds like an interesting hybrid. Was on sale for £10 less than everywhere else (and even that was low stock on the best price for miles around so not guaranteed to last) so I took the plunge.

It's also one of the 6 Board Games That Video Gamers Should Play as written by Quintin Smith a long while back.

It's not for everyone, but if you like AC:NL, you love it.

Have you played any of the other Layton games, kenshi. They're all good, but the second to last one is a weird place to start.

Maybe clean it up and dump it at a charity shop instead?

Sorry, I missed this when you posted it. If it was mine, it would be in good condition, and that is what I'd do, as I can never be bothered with the hassle of selling stuff but he needs the money as much as any charity does.. Not that keen on cleaning someone else's gunk, which is why I was just going to give him my own money. Kind of annoying really though as he only palmed it off on me as he didn't have room for it and I've never even so much as turned it on.

It's always weird what games end up being worth money, but one of those I checked on CEX they literally buy for 1p.

Ah. See ages back I bought my sisters DS since she kinda needed money and I needed pokemon, but at the time it was still a current console (though a DS lite in an age of DSi n DS XL). I'd wager that a PS2 in the age of PS4 is practically worthless.

You could always give him the money, and then donate the console to charity? Even if not sold in a charity shop for like a fiver it might get shipped out to provide joy to some poverty stricken kid.

I skipped the Vita version of OlliOlli 2 when it came out because at that point the first one was already out on PC, so I just waited for the Steam release instead. I gave it a quick try earlier and it looks to be a nice improvement over the original. Should be fun.

As for Ronin, I've been interested since the initial announcement but then it came out a few weeks ago and I kinda forgot about it. I was reminded of it by the current Devolver Digital publisher sale on Steam and noticed there was a demo. Gave it a shot and, yeah, it's pretty much Gunpoint but with turn-based combat and kind of a hint of Mark of the Ninja. The game already had me at Gunpoint. It also had me at turn-based combat. And again at Mark of the Ninja. I don't know why the fuck I didn't already own this, to be perfectly honest. This is going to be fucking awesome.

Hah, scrolled down too fast n thought that was a Strongbad game :P

Anywho, I have picked up Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, since it's on sale n folks have banged on about it.

edit: Had a gander into town, looked at Destiny, gravitate upwards, now have AC:Unity. I figure I'll give Assasin's Creed another shot. Though still doing FFX (I'm past Yunelesca so it's that "gather celestial weapon, unlock limit breaks" bit)

Got it for "free" on GMG. It's 10% off but I paid for it entirely with store credit. Was lucky enough to win a £50 giveaway on Playfire like a month ago, right before they scrapped the entire rewards program, which converted to nearly 80 bucks in real-world money.

I've been saving the credit for The Phantom Pain but it's still not available for prepurchase on GMG, so whatever. This one's pretty cheap so I have plenty left, anyway. Worst case scenario, TPP won't get a VIP deal and I'll have to pay like 10-15 bucks out of pocket. Not a big deal.

I loved Thomas Was Alone, so I was going to be interested in Mike Bithell's next game regardless of what it was. But when it turned out to be a Metal Gear Solid VR-like stealth game, it instantly became one of my most anticipated indie games. I was a little worried about length because of the 20$ price point but according to reviews it's a solid 10 hours long. The scores are also pretty good overall, so that was enough for me to bite.

Shadowrun: HK the best of the bunch, though it felt like it was the shortest. I really loved the second game's director's cut, though, too.

I'd love to see a longer Shadowrun game with slower character progression for the PC and more options for the companions' level growth rewards.

Oh, and I also bought the new Metal Gear Game for PC on Steam. Just started Ground Zeroes, which comes with the TPP preorder; feels very MGS-y, so I think I'll enjoy the full game once I've finished this demo mission.

So, uh, I'm a bit broke atm and I've been holding on to GMG credit for a couple months specifically for this game. Then GMG just never put it up for pre-order and when launch day came around, it disappeared from the store entirely. To say that I was annoyed would be a massive understatement.

Then I found out it might simply not be available in Canada, so I used a VPN to check the US store and sure enough there it was. I added it to my cart for shits and giggles and turned off the VPN. The thing is, when I logged back into the Canadian store, it was still in my cart. I tried to complete the transaction, not really expecting it to work, but it went through! Woops?

Anyway, I have classes all day but it's downloading at home right now. I should be able to play it when I get home tonight! Hopefully this won't backfire...

Same here. I started playing around 2:30pm yesterday, breaked for dinner and dog walking, but otherwise played straight through till 11:30pm. This game is the real deal, the critics were right. From a gameplay perspective this is the best Metal Gear has ever been. Outside of the opening hour or two the story seems to be sparse but that's fine, I just want to keep infiltrating bases and doing side-OPs.

So basically: GOTY.

Alien: Isolation is only $20 for Prime members (I used a free trial month of Prime for it), so I figured what the hell.  Even if I hate it (which I won't) I can sell it again and loss to me will only be like $5.  Last of Us Remastered is a PSN code, that was $13.94.  I only rented it on PS3 and never played Left Behind, and this code was barely more than Left Behind is by itself through PSN.
