IDDQD
http://www.unrealtournament.com/blog/ So they've been making a new Unreal Tournament for some time now, in case noboy noticed. Christ, when they are going to learn to name their fucking games properly? Now we another one that's going to need a clarification whenever it pops up in a conversation: "oh, you mean the UT'99 or the NEW Unreal Tournament?". Ah whatever. It's in pre-alpha stage right now, so there's not much to look at, aside from one properly textured map, but gameplay wise it's a good 'ol UT. I'm hyped. It plays a lot like the original, but it actually incorporates the best characteristics of all previous games in the series. Now if they'll make a net code that's worth a shit this time around (so far it feels pretty decent), and I guess we'll have ourselves some kickass arena shooter with similar business model to Quake Live. Not sure how this will evolve in the future, but I hope that it won't be necessary to throw money at them every five minutes to keep playing normally. Another very positive thing is that they're releasing the new engine for free to everyone, with large support in form of tutorials, development tools and new platform for content sharing. This of course means heavy emphasis on modding community - another thing that characterised these games in ye olden days.
