Or the implication that GTA is a R* franchise that's especially on PC. If maybe I'd used a , instead of a . they might have been intended to be read as a single sentence, but I didn't write them as a single sentence. I can split my stuff into paragraphs if you want easier reading?

Come on, as Cowboy even noted I'd already had a dig at him previously for lazily throwing RDR news in the GTA thread, what would make any of you think I think RDR is part of the GTA series after that?

I'm just happy to know this will probably be out on PC before too long, so I don't have to deal with an ugly console version. I do hate how Rockstar only does PC versions via stealth. I wonder why they don't announce PC versions until after console versions ship. I suspect they have some sort of deal with Sony and/or MS to only promote for console or face some sort of penalty, but I'm not sure why Rockstar would agree to such a thing.

Maybe if I put "Especially in the GTA series"? I don't know. It seems perfectly fine and obvious to me both with what was written and especially with context clues both immediate and on a larger scale. But if two folks read it as my suggestion RDR is a GTA title then probably something written weird.

@GOH*: I imagine in the initial bump of console sales is needed over potential initial and long tail PC sales. Especially if you'll note many folks around the web saying they'd grab the console version should PC version not be announced come launch (even if they know it's coming). It would be nice if they'd give a reason, they've been doing this launch tactic long enough by now. The long tail sales and success of PC GTAs must be worth at least something to be given the courtesy of a reasoning.

*random aside - Next forum version you'll be able to @Mention people.

Well, for folks like myself, if the PC version were released within a couple of months of the console version, I'd definitely get the PC version.

I don't understand why Rockstar would prefer to sell a console copy of GTAV over a PC copy. Indeed, the PC copy is much more difficult for the consumer to resell (and then only boxed versions can be resold), so I would imagine Rockstar would prefer more initial copies to be sold on PC. Maybe they hope to make some folks buy the games twice, once for console, and once for PC, but that doesn't seem like it would net Rockstar all that much money.

The double dipping would be what I think they're hoping for, and as I said it seems from sentiment around the web that it's something that works for them. I'm not sure GTA is a series that has much immediate used game market, what with it being quite a large open world game. Not something you'd chew through in a day or so.

Now you're just trolling.

Console games are routinely up on torrent sites, with thousands of downloads, weeks prior to the game even coming out.  PC games typically aren't on them until a couple weeks /after/ the game is released.  On PC you also have to crack each game individually, whereas on console if you've got your console hacked you just download the game and are good to go.

Man I think I'm just going to say "Fuck it" and get the PS3 version, then buy the PC version down the line in the future when its on sale (much like GTA IV). This looks too good to hold out for a "they will most definately make a PC version, even if they haven't said so. Probably" type gamble. If only they would announce it, I could wait 6 months or more if they need it, but I'm not going to wait 6 months and then say "fuck it they aren't haven't announced a PC version" and then buy it on the PS3 and find that the online is dead.

Multiplayer just looks right up my alley, like CP here I spent way too much time in RDR online.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I was about to pre-order GTA V, and then I saw the Special Edition! I saw the map, art book, and some extra tattoos/clothes. That really jazzed me (minus the in game clothes). Then I saw that it came with a handful of weapons in the clerks inventory, ooh neat! They are free to your character... What? No... why?

I HATE when a game is like "hey here are some things for free because you have the special edition" I bought the ultimate version of Burnout Paradise and that came with all the cars unlocked. I would have been mad if I spent more than 7 bucks on it, but still. I want the game to still make me work for this stuff. I don't want to automatically have the most powerful weapons available to me.

I'm not sure if I'm planning on getting the Special Edition any more. I want the map and stuff but I don't want the game to be easier...
