madbassman39
Don't you lose your weapons if you die anyways? Yea, and you don't have to buy them, which means I can avoid it if I want to. It just bugs me when every time I go to the gun store I'll have guns I can buy for free, seeing as I'll probably spend most of my "fucking around town" time in Multiplayer. Also, if they do add new areas to the Multiplayer, I want San Fierro to be the next update.
Faiblesse Des Sens
So I was about to pre-order GTA V, and then I saw the Special Edition! I saw the map, art book, and some extra tattoos/clothes. That really jazzed me (minus the in game clothes). Then I saw that it came with a handful of weapons in the clerks inventory, ooh neat! They are free to your character... What? No... why? I HATE when a game is like "hey here are some things for free because you have the special edition" I bought the ultimate version of Burnout Paradise and that came with all the cars unlocked. I would have been mad if I spent more than 7 bucks on it, but still. I want the game to still make me work for this stuff. I don't want to automatically have the most powerful weapons available to me. I'm not sure if I'm planning on getting the Special Edition any more. I want the map and stuff but I don't want the game to be easier... That's a huge issue with pre-orders in general. I get why they do it, because they're adding this stuff in later after they've already figured out the pacing of the game and don't want to include these items somewhere where they would make more sense, but it's annoying as hell.
madbassman39
Thats why I typically avoid pre-orders. The GTA series along with the Elder Scrolls series I will always pre-order. I love the special maps and shit, they really do get me off, and those tend to sell out, so I jump on the pre-order. I don't want anything that will change my experience, I don't mind getting extra weapons or items, but I don't want them to be free in game, I want them to be part of the game. TheMightyEthan
In my experience the in game items are rarely actually game changing, they're just moderately better than what you could get normally for the first part of the game, and are quickly outclassed by the normal unlocks. Hot Heart
On the plus side, they should be separate unlock codes, so you don't have to activate them.
deanb
Apparently all the other trailers weren't official before this.
Luftwaffles
GTA Online details announced, full list here. Holy fuck this sounds amazing. I'd have to say "Phone can be used to take a selfie" is my favorite announcement so far though.
Mr. GOH!
Quick question: those of you getting this, what platform are y'all getting it for? I got it for PS3, since the 360 is old and not hooked up to the TV. Edited September 11, 2013 by Mr. GOH!
Luftwaffles
Ps3. No tengo Xbox.
TheMightyEthan
360, since the 360 version of GTAIV was technically superior to the PS3 version so I figure this one will either also be better or they will be comparable and it won't matter. Also the Microsoft store gave $20 of Live credit with the preorder. Mostly the $20 credit. *Edit* - Okay, I don't generally give two shits about multiplayer, but that sounds awesome. Mister Jack
PS3 here. I don't pay for Xbox Live gold anymore and there is no way this game is going to fit on one DVD anyway.
deanb
PC I guess? Not going to be getting it at launch, and I'm not seeing much point in buying new multi-plats for consoles at this point, so might as well wait out for PC. As the internet as shown, GTA is hardly a game you need to get at launch.
Mr. GOH!
I assume there is no cross-platform play. Sad. It would be fun to put together a PXOD forum crew to wreck shit in the new multiplayer.
TheMightyEthan
PS3 here. I don't pay for Xbox Live gold anymore and there is no way this game is going to fit on one DVD anyway. It's on 2. You install one and then play from the other, so there's no disc swapping.
Faiblesse Des Sens
since the 360 version of GTAIV was technically superior to the PS3 version How so? The shadows and lighting were much better on the PS3 version.
TheMightyEthan
Every single thing other than the shadows. Even the lighting the only difference was an adjusted color palette, not actually any difference in the way the lighting was handled. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/grand-theft-auto-iv-ps3-vs-xbox-360-special-article
Mr. GOH!
I imagine they'll do a better job optimizing for PS3 this time around. Did Red Dead have the same performance discrepancy?
TheMightyEthan
Oh I'm sure they will. Like I said, the main thing was the $20 credit. The fact that GTAIV was better on 360 just convinced me to not NOT get the 360 version really. Cause my assumption would have been that the PS3 version was better. Mr. GOH!
The reason i got the PS3 version is because my 360 isn't hooked up to the TV. Also because I assume folks around here will tend to get the PS3 version and I might want to play some multiplayer with folks I know. madbassman39
I'm getting it on the PS3. Mostly because I don't plan on keeping my Xbox Live account around much longer.
Luftwaffles
I'd definitely be down for some multiplayer when it comes out. I'm assuming it won't be cross platform, as they haven't said anything about it, but by that logic I guess there's still a chance.
TheMightyEthan
Fine, Hottie and I will just play on 360 together and NONE OF YOU ARE INVITED!
Luftwaffles
What's the superior platform now, Ethan!?

I'll take "actually looks better in real life" than technically better any day. I owned the 360 version BTW. I don't think I own the PS3 version at all. TheMightyEthan
Considering that, while the multiplayer in this looks neat, I don't really care for multiplayer much and I got a $20 credit with my copy, I'd still say 360.
