NeoStarr
I read that people were only getting 14k for ten waves; I don't do survival much and Rockstar hasn't officially acknowledged any of the payout nerfs but if you email support about it you get this automated response. For those of you inquiring about mission payouts, there was a change that reduces payouts by 50% after a repeat of the mission. So, basically, the first time you play and beat the mission, you will get the full amount. Subsequent replays will see a payout amount reduced by half. This is to help prepare for upcoming missions and content in the Beach Bum Pack as well as heists to help keep the game balanced as well as encourage the exploration of new missions and content in the game. We understand players do like to enjoy a mission multiple times, so rather than remove the possibility of doing so, we've allowed replays of these missions at a reduced payout. Many players can get very good at a mission and beat it much faster in consecutive tries, so we've adjusted these payouts to match that case. This also ties in to our ongoing discussion of replay availability for NPC missions, in which we are taking community feedback as well. I apologize that there was not full clarity on this in the patch notes; however, hopefully this note will clear things up. If there are any additional questions on this, please do not hesitate to ask.l Sorry I know it's a dumb source. On the plus side; replay button is back for missions, so that should shave off a bunch of the loading times.
Saturnine Tenshi
Sounds like you have DLC to thank.
Hot Heart
Well, that and long-term progression balancing. Also noticed: People who were a little afraid of losing their money if killed in Free Mode can rest easy, that's been limited to a max of $500, which is chump change. NeoStarr
Apparently Social Club servers have been down all day. Proper source this time: http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200555488 . You can play but your progress won't be saved. I've read from random internet folk that people were having problems saving progress last night. Stuff like money earned during a session being lost after you logged out, same with cars you may have purchased (the money you spent on them seems to have disappeared without issue, however). RP should still be alright. But if you're playing now, don't count on anything being saved. And I definitely wouldn't buy anything expensive. (edit: The update says things are 'delayed'. This is from the same people who brought you "Yeah, we'll totally be getting your lost characters back") When I was playing last night, I also realized that with the payout nerfs there really seems to be no real benefit to having Merryweather support options in the game. I used to use backup helicopters and airstrikes quite excessively just cause it's an amusing bit of overkill and a really, really fast way to clean up. Not to mention, randoms really seem to like it when you sack a few thousand dollars from your reward to take a 20 minute mission down to 10 with a full payout for them. Now it seems like you're guaranteed to lose money on 90% of missions if you do that. I guess you can still use them to harass other players in freemode, but I'm not really into that and even if I were, Mercenaries seem to be considerably more useful and cost efficient then any other option. Thursday Next
"Put a microtransaction, virtual currency model in!" they said. It'll be fun!" They said. Clearly in a very glass house, throwing very big stones. But... Balancing the currency so that they can sell it seems to have sucked a lot of fun out of the game based on the above comments. Mister Jack
Some of the missions now have payouts so low that it wouldn't even cover the cost of the ammo you use up doing it. So until I see an update that doesn't nerf something or take something away, I'm just gonna say fuck it to this game.
madbassman39
I'd be upset if I wasn't going to be given $500k for having played it during the "Troubles". I mean seriously, I will buy one of the 200k apartments, and then I'll have 300k left over, I wouldn't even know what to do with the money in that game. Its a shame because money seemed like something that would help make free roam feel more than what it was in GTA IV. Sadly I think the best online so far by Rockstar was Red Dead Redemption. NeoStarr
The funny thing is, there are so many glitches and so little punishment that at this point you'd be stupid to buy a cash card. I swear to god there is a hack now that lets you hand out up to a billion dollars to everybody in the lobby; whether they want it or not. Apparently it can happen on both consoles, but is more common on PSN since free online = less risk of losing your account. I still love the game, but fuckit; I've started duping cars. There I said it.
madbassman39
What is duping cars, and out of curiosity what is the hack to get billions of dollars? I probably won't do it, mostly because I enjoy a little challenge in the game (although earning money in GTA online is too easy as it is).
NeoStarr
Duping cars is a glitch that just copies your car. If you do it to a modified car you can sell it for a shitload of money. I wouldn't know where to find hacks though.

TheFlyingGerbil
I didn't see this mentioned in the E3 thread. GTA V is coming to PS4, XONE and PC this Autumn. I guess a few of you here will be pleased the PC version will be out the same time as next gen at least though it wasn't released with last gen. Or are you all over it now?
Mr. GOH!
I am very pleased.
TheMightyEthan
At least this appears to be a fairly heavily overhauled version, so that should alleviate some of the sting of the delay.
staySICK
importing progress from last gen regardless of system is a nice incentive too. So does this explain the delay in the heist dlcs?
TheMightyEthan
I don't think you can import your singleplayer progress, just your online progress. This is the same trailer that they showed at the Sony presser, which leads me to believe it's running on PS4 rather than high-end PC. If so that's pretty fucking impressive. staySICK
what? oh well that's annoying. I must have misunderstood.
TheMightyEthan
I'm not 100% sure of that, I could be wrong, that was just my interpretation of what they said. I know they used the word "online".
Eleven
Hmm, it comes out on Xbox one too? I was surprised they mentioned that you'll be able to import your progress from PS3 AND 360 to the PS4. Do they mean just PS3 -> PS4 and XBox 360 - Xbox One?
TheMightyEthan
No, Sony said it, and they wouldn't have mentioned MS at all unless they meant you can go from 360->PS4. I'm sure you'll also be able to go from PS3->Xbone if you want, but obviously Sony doesn't care to advertise that. I'm guessing that the GTA Online system is system agnostic on Rockstar's end, so they're just letting you move it wherever you want.

Strangelove
Thinking about it now, I dont remember shit about GTAV. Not in the way I still remember RDR. I finished the main storyline, which I wasnt impressed with and I never went back to it. Im not sure if its maybe a a handful of people who have totally gotten over sandbox games or if there might be some kind of big backlash coming soon. Im impressed by the work that went into the city in GTAV(hands down the most "alive" city in any game Ive played), but Im completley neutral to the thing. It could have been twice as big or a fourth of what it was and it wouldnt have mattered to me. QTEs and sandbox games as we know them now grew up together and people hate QTEs now because they added nothing to the actual game and proved to be very boring. I feel the same way about sandbox games. Watchdogs really puts into perspective how samey these things can be. "Just another fucking sandbox game." I like big open cities as a way to feel immersed in a living world, but I hate that developers have to come up with dumb shit for players to do in it. I doubt they really want to do it. They do it because its expected, not because they were overflowing with gameplay ideas and the only way to express them was by creating a huge ass city. And you can tell. Thats why Ive always been a huge fan of the inFamous series. It always takes place in a big city, but its not a sandbox, it's open world. You can run, fly or grind rails around beating the shit out of enemies, which is the main and often only type of gameplay. Just traversal and combat. Those games were always so refined and smooth compared to any other series with big cities in them. To a lesser extent, Assassin's Creed does the same thing. The cities are a singular tool to create immersion, nothing more. Its a stage. I hated GTA4 and really liked GTA5 for being so different from it, but I think the only things different was that GTA5 had fun driving and the game had an old school GTA sense of humor. I think thats what really saved it for me. Otherwise theyre about the same. I wonder how the remaster will review or if itll make anyone second guess all those high scores it got the first time. RDR is Rockstar's best game and it just might be because compared to the GTA series, there's very little to do outside of hunting and poker. TheMightyEthan
Goddamn I loved hunting in RDR... The heists in GTAV are what make the game for me.
