deanb
http://i.imgur.com/X2k6gSq.gifv *snort* Yeah, if it had an SP there'd be at least something to get into. But as it stands I've got other things to be playing right now, n by time I'd want to play Battlefront the community will likely be mostly dead and moved onto the next thing.

CorgiShinobi
I was hoping for a nice Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale because I can't justify $60 for a multi-only game. It's a good one mind you, but if I get bored I'd like something I can do alone. The only deals I was seeing were discounts on the Deluxe version or special retailer editions. Walmart had a get $20 PSN credit, but I would still be paying full price.
Mister Jack
I honestly can't justify paying more than 20 dollars for this game in its current state. Aside from the graphics and sound, everything is a joke. Balance, progression, content, game types, customization, it all just flat out sucks. It really breaks my heart that this game is so bad. I loved the last one.
Thursday Next
Balance and amount of content is something I've heard a fair deal. What's your issue with Progression and Customisation? For customisation, you can't exactly have people sticking random shit all over their Storm trooper uniforms or running around as a bright pink soldier, loadout customisation is completely open. You can't stick loads of twiddly bits on the guns, but for me that is easily the most tedious element of BF and COD. For progression, you collect currency and experience to unlock and purchase tiers of cards that act as accessories with cool downs. It's all pretty simple and for a change, it feels like unlocking everything is achievable. I honestly think that most of the complaints are down to the game being accessible to a wider group. Rather than being just for people who have played BF and COD plenty in the last 5 years.
Mister Jack
Come on, eleven guns? In a game based on custom loadouts (which it previously wasn't)? How can anyone possibly feel like that is acceptable? Especially when most of them feel the exact same. I know it's about laser blasters and it can be hard to make those feel different, but in that case they shouldn't have even bothered with loadouts at all. They should have just had classes like Battlefront 2...or hell, even Battlefield. It's not like DICE doesn't know how class based shooters work. They practically invented the genre. Why throw it away now? The piss poor options to personalize your unit just goes to show that it shouldn't have been the focus in the first place. Also, pretty much every card except the jet pack is lame.
Thursday Next
I think this is a personal taste thing. 11 guns - 3 x Blaster Pistols, 3 x Heavy Blasters, 3 x Blaster Rifles, 1 x Shock Blaster and 1 x Targeting Rifle feels like plenty to me. Pistols, Heavies and Rifles all feel different to me. Not sure about Shock and Targeting or differences between each rifle as I haven't played it enough to try them all. As for the cards, Jump Packs are for sure the most fun, but the Ion Torpedos, grenades, cycler rifles all have their uses in different situations. If you're a Rebel on Walker Assault you want to be carrying a full set of Ion gear and if you're the Empire on Hoth then having a Cycler Rifle and Homing Shot are going to be much more useful than a Jump Pack. I think it strikes a nice balance between being tweakable to suit your style and situation while being accessible enough for everyone without overloading them with too many options. TheMightyEthan
That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen in a game.
Mal
Yes, I'm in love with the visuals and sounds of Battlefront. If you got a 4k display you may want to give this a go. Even if you don't it is worth a watch. So pretty... And with regards to the previous video of the Battle of Jakku. The Star Destroyer going down is the one from the book/comic that helps setup TFA, I think. Neat.
Mal
What the, umm, "first" game should've been. Should be at least gorgeous eye candy. Edit: And if you want a prequel to the canon story of Battlefront II then here you go. I'm actually kind of snoked that we're playing as Imperials, and as what I assume to be Death Troopers. It remains to be seen if our MC will turn to the Rebellion though. I hope not since this squad probably helped form the fledgling First Order. I wonder if we'll be in the Battle of Jakku, the battle where the Empire was defeated and out of the ashes came the First Order. In any case, I have little worries for the story. The gameplay however... Edited April 15, 2017 by Mal THE EMPIRE DID NOTHING WRONG
deanb
Also you can look into that MP segment if you want, but it was pretty godawful.

Mal
It had to be a Star Wars game to break the camel's back. I wonder what the scope that they in Hawaii and in Belgium are going for. AAA games only or is it going after mobile and even stuff like CSGO stuff? I wonder how the industry going to react. Ideally they shouldn't fight this fight since it will look terrible on them. It is however a big money maker so I don't know...
CorgiShinobi
Take what Blizzard did with Overwatch when pressed by Chinese law on in-game transactions. Blizzard needed to include in-game currency as a given with any lootcrate purchase. However, they made the amount of currency so minimal that it only serves to fulfill the law. Basically, there's a bit of a loophole in current law that even should a developer include usable currency, there's no way of measuring the amount that should be offered. What I'm driving at is that developers can agree to follow along, but they're going to be obtuse about it. EDIT: Oops, forgot to say what game this happened to! Mal
I cannot comment on China but I feel that over here in the US, it is easier to call bullshit on such obtuse shit like that. Besides this concerns gambling and children with the whole "think of the children" and all. It's far too easy of a political point to ignore (for everyone except for perhaps one person...). Edit: I can see the ESRB trying to chime in but they are already in favor of lootboxes. Since the ESRB is part of the industry, I can see the government calling bullshit.
