TheMightyEthan
With the Switch Nintendo is finally joining the 21st century and tying your digital purchases to your Nintendo account rather than to your specific hardware. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-02-17-nintendo-switch-eshop-will-finally-link-purchases-to-accounts-not-consoles About fucking time.
TheFlyingGerbil
It does say "re-linking the account after initialising the console" which could be interpreted as meaning it still needs to be same account on same console. I certainly won't be doing any practical experiments to find out.

Mister Jack
I highly doubt that they put together a new account system that tracks and redownloads all your purchases in less than a month. Even if they weren't finished, they had to have at least known that they were working on it.
Mr. GOH!
Nintendo: masters of non-communication.
TheFlyingGerbil
There's a new section for a User ID on the Nintendo accounts page. Not sure how it's different to the other times I've put my name in but gotta get myself Switch ready.

TheMightyEthan
What's even better is that there's already a game (Dragon Quest Heroes) that's bigger than the internal storage all by itself. You can install your own SD card, but Jesus...
Thursday Next
What's eeeeeven better is that storage is so cheap but Nintendo just *have* to make a profit on hardware rather than loss lead.
TheMightyEthan
Multiple sites are reporting that they're having problems with the left joy-con desyncing when it's not plugged into the tablet. So that's a thing. Hopefully it's a software problem that can be patched, but as a lot of people are pointing out even if it's a software problem there's no guarantee Nintendo designed the thing in a way that allows them to patch the firmware on the controllers. Mr. GOH!
It's okay, since reports also indicate the joycons are not comfortable and the only way to play any game of substance is to use the Pro controller. So folks buying the Switch one day 1 for Zelda will pay more than folks buying a PS4 Pro with two games packed in.
danielpholt
Looks like no Virtual Console upon launch for the Switch. Personally, that wouldn't bother me all that much, but it's just another reason to think Nintendo has failed to learn anything from the Wii U. TheMightyEthan
GOH, where are you seeing that you need a pro controller? Everything I'm seeing is saying the joycons are serviceable, though not quite as good as a regular controller.

Mr. GOH!
TME: Polygon or Are Technica or some site like that. Maybe even the dreaded Kotaku. Can't recall which one. The writer said that s/he and everyone else in the office hated the joycons for BotW, but that the pro controller is a real joy to use. Mal
Well, at least Nintendo can make a Joycon V2 down the line. And it'll be limited in supply.
TheMightyEthan
First Switch game that doesn't support TV-play.
deanb
Yay! Didn't this have a habit of happening with the Wii and Wii U too, like games that required a specific controller, or couldn't work with just the screenpad (whatever it was called). TheMightyEthan
I don't remember any Wii U games that you couldn't play with just the tablet (other than multiplayer ones, obviously).
Mr. GOH!
Not surprising, since the Switch is really just an expensive portable.
