The stock dock isn’t a smart idea but the first thing I did (very first thing I did) was buy a sceeen protector for my switch knowing it would get scratched in the dock. The fact is dust and dirt gets trapped in there so if you slide in the switch that dust and dirt will scratch the screen even if properly placed and the screen probably isn’t rated that well. Make sure to use a glass screen protector though as plastic isn’t good with any heat really.

Not to mention this guy isn’t replicating the way people got their switch warped so it’s very hard to tell. I do believe it is the manufacturer because everyone has different issues when loading memory from xenoblade 2 and some people don’t. Keeping the switch on for longer periods of times without blacking out could result in higher heat in other specific components on the circuit card which could cause a short or an open too so with these consoles bending it’s a bad thing. You can’t fix an ic chip which is probably what’s being used so they will end up replacing the circuit card for repairs, not good.

The storage that comes with the switch is enough for most of the prominent games out because the switch doesn’t have that many good games yet (lots of shovelware Indy titles like the wii).

I would say 64GB unless the switch magically has like 20 more xenoblade/Mario quality titles some how next year. It’s good to have it anyways though because the physical titles are not plug and play, if you buy physical you’re going to end up downloading 3+ Gb update probably.

If anybody is still trying to find a good second dock (or if you just don't like the original one) and you're squeamish about opening up the original one for that Amazon model then you might want to check out Best Buy's Insignia branded version.  I looked at a bunch of options before getting my Switch because I knew I'd want another dock for the bedroom.  I discounted the Nyko one because it has reports of bricking Switches.  Even if it wasn't, I'm not fond of how it leaves the Switch completely exposed while it's charging.  I have a cat and she gets into absolutely everything.  I needed at least some semblance of a cradle so she couldn't easily knock it out, and the Insignia one is the best option I could see.

As you can see, it's smaller than the normal dock, but it still has a bit of a shield to hold it in place.  The ports are in the back too, so you don't have to do that weird sideways thing if that bothers you.  It also requires minimal force to push and pull the Switch in and out, only a tiny bit more effort than the standard dock.  The only real downside I can think of is that it only has one USB port.  I'm not really sure what you would need multiple ports for unless you intend to charge multiple pro controllers at the same time, but bear in mind that this is 40 dollars versus the Nintendo branded dock's 90 dollars.

Edit: Here's a video review of some of the most popular options, including the one I bought.

I feel like a dumbass. I managed to completely screw up putting on my screen protector to the point where it is now worthless and I had to contact the company for a replacement. I've never used a screen protector before and I thought I could just plop it on and be done, but no. Apparently you have to do it in a very specific way or else you risk ruining it like I did. I think where I screwed up was pushing down along the edges instead of on the center to stick it on. Next time around I'm definitely using the hinge method. I also hear now that small bubbles tend to go away after a day or so. If I somehow screw it up again I don't think I'm going to bother with a third attempt.

Yeah, the screen protectors are slightly gas permeable, so the air trapped in little bubbles will leak out over a few days.

*Edit - I definitely recommend lining up one edge with it almost but not quite flat, and then lowering it the rest of the way like it's on a hinge, rather than trying to put the whole thing down flat.

My house and really my room is a fucking dust heaven. I cannot clean the screen and keep it clean long enough for there to be no dust. At least there's no bubbles and it's hard see the dust when the Switch is on. I guess the only thing that irks me now is that it is on crooked... A slight tilt upward and left on the right. I'm not OCD so it will have to do.

You see why I didn't deal with this madness for so long!? If I feel like fixing it I'll do what Ethan said on Discord: do it in the bathroom after running the shower for a bit. It should get rid of all the dust.

Humidity does help. Another tip, don't use provided "microfiber" cloths. They might help remove prints, but they'll most likely leave behind bits of fabric. If you already have a microfiber cloth you regularly use, use that one. Also, I've found that the "dust removal" tape that screen protectors come with will leave behind some adhesive.

My screen protector is also slightly crooked, but it went on without any bubbles so I'm happy with it. I've learned not to mess with screen protectors after they've set because you'll always make it worse either with dust, bubbles, or even a fingerprint.

wow, I'm starting to feel quite pleased with myself/smug about putting mine on perfectly first go. I've found these things a nightmare on phones which is why I wasn't going to bother with one on my Switch. Though My Switch one was glass and I've only used plastic ones before so maybe I'll try a glass one on my next phone.

Well I put on the replacement screen protector.  There's still some bubbles along the edge but rather than lifting it up and trying it again, which is what ruined it last time, I'm going to wait a day or two and see if they go away on their own.  There were some bubbles in the center but I was able to push them out with my thumb.  I'm not sure but it seems like maybe this amFilm screen is ever so slightly smaller than the screen itself?  I say this because it seems pretty lined up, but there's a very thin line up along the top that wasn't covered up.  I don't see anywhere I messed up but it would be nice to know I'm not the only one who noticed this because it's driving my OCD crazy.

Edit: I couldn't stand it.  I had to reapply it.  Fortunately, I was much more careful this time.  I even wore some vinyl gloves to ensure I wouldn't leave any prints.  I'm happier with the positioning now.  Still a small bubble on the side, but I'm hoping that will disappear.

Screen protectors tend to be smaller because it would be very hard to be exactly center and fully fleshed on all edges. It's why the hinge method is recommended as you'll line it up with one edge and it'll fall in place. It won't always be perfect, but it beats trying to eyeball it with the finest touch of both hands.
