MetalCaveman
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2015/10/05/ubisoft-teases-something-prehistoric-with-cave-drawing-clip.aspx?utm_content=bufferd997e&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer Supposedly, it's going to be a new Far Cry, Far Cry: Primal. Could be something new though, or a new AC game.
TheMightyEthan
I was just coming in to post a link to a Eurogamer article about that. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-10-05-far-cry-primal-is-an-ice-age-spin-off-report Now I'm significantly less interested than I was initially. Although Far Cry without guns sounds more promising... wait, did I just describe Assassin's Creed?
TCP
FAR CRY SKYRIM!?! YES PLEASE FUCKK YESSSSS
TheMightyEthan
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-10-06-stone-age-set-far-cry-primal-launches-in-february And it's confirmed. This is the first time I've ever had much interest at all in Far Cry, and now I want it so very, very bad.
TCP
I love love love this trend of announcing a game just a few months before it comes out. This looks great, a nice change of pace from the usual guns or fantasy open world games.
TheFlyingGerbil
it's weird there are so many early man games at on the horizon. There's this, WiLD, ARK: survival evolved, Primal Carnage has dinosaurs but modern weapons. Probably more that im not aware of too. Anyway, this does look interesting. It would be nice if it wasn't just focused on killing animal/other tribes.
TCP
Stone age games are to 2016 as Victorian England inspired games are to 2015.
TheMightyEthan
Coming out February 23, same day as Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. So, I guess I'm not getting Primal at launch. Too bad. @TFG: Isn't Ark: Survival Evolved a sci-fi game? Though one you didn't mention is Horizon: Zero Dawn. It's set in the future with giant robot dinosaurs, but it's also post-apocalyptic so the humans are back to hunter-gatherers for the most part. I mean I see how they're all related, but this is the only one that seems to be going for any sort of resemblance to the actual past (even WiLD has lots of fantasy elements, doesn't it?) TheFlyingGerbil
yeah, as I was looking through them for the names, I noted they all had some sort of twist but still vague theme in the same way we had WWII shooters for a bit, and sci fi shooters. They do all look different enough that you could be interested in all of them not just choose one of the lot.
deanb
How are you going to climb radio towers in BC times?
TheMightyEthan
Very tall trees?
deanb
It's all very well and good using tall trees to get that high but without the existence of radio technology for several millennia you're going to struggle to unlock parts of your map even if you could get that high up. Also another thought: How do you fend yourself from the Golgafrinchans and maintain a stable economy with that many trees around?
TheMightyEthan
What does radio tech have to do with it? From high up you can see for a long ways, thus filling in your map. It's how Assassin's Creed has done it. As to that second part, I have no idea what that means.
deanb
Also the latter past is Restaurant at the End of the Universe A spaceship full of "useless people" crash lands in prehistoric earth, supplanting the native population. They have an economy based on leaves and try to stop inflation by burning down large swathes of forest.
TheMightyEthan
Oh, okay, I remember that part of the book, just didn't remember the names. I know that in Far Cry 3/4 you climb radio towers for your map. What I'm not understanding is why you think radio tech would be necessary to the tall trees climbing map system. MetalCaveman
I'm pretty sure it's a joke... Concept sounds cool, looking forward to it, shame about the release date though. Edited October 6, 2015 by MetalCaveman

TheMightyEthan
I'm not sure how I feel about that. My initial reaction when I heard about the beast master thing was for my interest in the game to decrease, but now that I've seen the trailer and it appears you only ever control one animal at a time my reaction is less negative. Thursday Next
I could handle a Far Cry BrotherBeastHood.
deanb
I never asked for this. (huh, turns out he was meant to voice Far Cry 3, and did like most of the work before Ubisoft ditched him) Hmm, I wonder if this might pull in bits from Nemesis system. Also that's totally the tribe from From Dust
