Eleven
Cool! I will watch it then. I do like seeing references between games so maybe it'll do me some good. I was also kind of interested to know what the deal was with that game (it has 2 versions!) but never really bothered.
toxicitizen
The two games thing isn't much of a mystery. I think it'll be covered in the recap I linked but basically they're the exact same game except for the protagonist. In the JP PS3 version, he's younger and is the brother of a girl in the game. In the X360 version, he's older (and uglier) and is her father instead. When the time came to localize it for the West, we ended up only getting the father version for both platforms. Probably because the 360 version was made to be more appealing to western players in the first place.
Eleven
You know what... that recap really makes me wanna play the game...
toxicitizen
Yeah, the thing about Nier is that it has some really cool ideas and does some really neat experimental things with its gameplay but it's just not a very well-made game. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to play it (unless they bring out a remaster), but it's not like it would be the worst thing in the world to play. Personally I had to drop it halfway through, I just wasn't enjoying it. I get what you mean, though. That story recap spoiled the entire thing and kinda made me want to maybe give it another shot at some point. Maybe if they remaster it and release it on PC... Eleven
I need a non-spoiler answer: There are doors and elevators, like in the factory, that are locked. How do I get them unlocked? I have a quest that asks me to go to the abandoned factory, and the thing might be in those locked elevators but I don't want to go back and keep checking when it's still locked. So do they unlock when the quest is available, or does it unlock as I progress the story therefore I need to progress far enough so I can do the side quest? toxicitizen
Are you sure the quest item you need to find is there? I don't remember any quest that was gated off by the main story like that, at least not off the top of my head. And locked doors and elevators in the abandoned factory definitely sounds like stuff that will eventually open up through the main story. Eleven
It turned out I didn't need to go down the elevators. But I think there was still 1 red icon way down on the abandoned factory, and I figured that was it.
Saturnine Tenshi
You're not a good game!
toxicitizen
From this interview Q: What if you were to make the next NieR title? Yoko Taro: I think I’d imagine a NieR: Automata sequel that everyone is thinking about, then make something that is not that. I’m going to ruin it, is what I’m thinking. I love this crazy man. Never change, Yoko Taro.
Mal
I forgot this thread exist. I wonder what you guys have to say while I let this game languish in my to-be-played for so long. Anyhow, regarding Pascal and the video... Spoiler Even if I were aware that I could leave him, I couldn't. As far as I was concerned he was at the level you can consider human. I had to give him the gift of mercy but I couldn't kill him. The consequences of that action, if it were real, would've made me beg for my own mercy. It's so horrifying and I caused it. In game though, I didn't need any of the machine parts but I did indulge Pascal in a few purchases. I also visited him a few times for what amounted as care checks and my reaction is the same as 9S' "...". Life is indeed hard and painful. Yet I go on trekking to witness the beauty in the world... Horrifying game. Edit: Horrifying thread. I know this game came out this year but I forgot all my posts in here. Almost feels like I was a different person... seriously. I'm not kidding. Which also means this aspect of humanity would be kind of neat to explore in games. Not sure how though. I'm going to be up all night now. Mal
Face it, the textures in the base game are pretty bad. So this should help out this rough edge (of a few) of this otherwise great game.
