Mr. GOH!
How much was the bundle, Ethan? My mobo is dead so I've been thinking about CPU/mobo/RAM bundles. I've been targeting the 6600k i5 over the i7 (i7 seems like overkill for gaming), but I'd shoot for an i7 if the price is right.
deanb
I'm running a stock cooler on current PC. Might grab a cooler master at some point since I liked my last one and this fan gets a bit noisy at time (disconcertingly so at boot up). I've actually got my old one on a dead PC at my dads, I could maybe recover it, not sure if it'll work on an i5 though given it was for a Core2-quad. I guess something to research. Anywho picked up Deus Ex GO in the sale on Play Store. Gotta fucking love Google Rewards.

CPU $300: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117559 Mobo $90 (will be $75 after a mail-in rebate): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130892 RAM $90: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231964 Fan $30 (will be $25 after a mail-in rebate): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 The CPU and Mobo are both $30 off in a sale Newegg's having this weekend, so after Sunday they'll go back up to $330 and $120 respectively. deanb
I guess I've also picked up FFXIV, should tide me over for FFXV and hooray for Steam credit.
TheFlyingGerbil
I bought it with Sainsbury's double up offer so it only cost me £20 of nectar points, which I of course get for free anyway so pretty bargain-tastic. Think it's the first non Nintendo game I've bought in launch week too. Also bought some christmas decorations while I was there so am feeling pleased today. toxicitizen
Cause I'm a dumb idiot with no will power whatsoever. That's the upgrade to full experience for HITMAN and the game + season pass for RotTR. Would've preferred just the game for the latter but it looks like it's not purchasable on its own right now. Not sure if it's due to the week-end deal or the 20 year celebration thing but either way it's kinda shitty. Really looking forward to playing the rest of HITMAN, though. I've been a fan of the series since the very beginning and the intro pack alone made it pretty clear that it was a solid return to form. I didn't think I'd have to wait this long for a decent discount on the upgrade but at least all the episodes are out now. Oh and not a purchase but a friend of mine worked on it and gave me a code, so I got this. Edited November 20, 2016 by FLD

Mal
From what I've heard, the CRYORIG H7 is a better CPU cooler if you are in the market for one. Runs cooler, quieter and the fan isn't as large (like in fitting RAM under the fan) as the Cooler Master one that Ethan and I have. I might give the H7 a spin once I have a really spare $35+ to spend. @FLD I was afraid for a second that you bought Roller Coaster Tycoon World... TheMightyEthan
I will admit that the fan is the part I researched the least. I just picked one that was cheap, would fit the socket, and that people said cooled their CPU well.
Mr. GOH!
Hmm. That's more than my budget, and I have to get a new case, too. I think I'll stick with a cheaper i5. Thanks for the info, Ethan!
deanb
I think RoTR is only available as the "20th Anniversary edition" on Steam due to how Steam manages games that don't have DLC through Steam (same way everyone got the GOTY edition of Arkham games cos they didn't do the DLC through Steam separately). It's why a chunk of EA games got kicked off years back (I think ME3 for example still isn't on Steam cos of it).
toxicitizen
RotTR has all of its DLC available through Steam, though, both as season pass and individually. I mean, where else would they even sell it? I think in this case it's more like how for a while whenever there was a sale on GTAV they would disable the app for just the game and would only sell it bundled with those shark cards to mark up the price. And IIRC, that policy has actually been changed since the time the EA thing happened, so it wouldn't apply here (and it's not the reason EA still doesn't release on Steam, either). TheMightyEthan
Snagged StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void. Amazon's got it for $18 right now and that price was too good to pass up.
Hot Heart
Well, the seller fucked up with my copy of Ladies & Gentlemen by sending me a couple of courses for Formula D. Sent that back for a refund since they were the only place with that low price and they never responded to me originally requesting to swap for the correct item and figured I'd get something else. So I got Argent: The Consortium. I've had it on the wishlist for a while and decided to take the plunge since my group tends to like worker placement games. Except this ain't some boring shit like Stone Age or as simple as Lords of Waterdeep. This is worker placement on speed! But, like, "Speed" as in a spell name, maybe? You see, it's based in a magic academy where players are vying to take the place of the retiring chancellor. They do this by winning over members of the committee who have certain conditions for which they'll award a vote (most sorcery-type spells and supporters, most research undertaken, most diverse schools of magic, etc.); there are 12 in all and only 2 start face-up (players can place "marks" to peek at the others). Players have different sorts of mages that they can send on errands around the school. It's not a simple "place a worker here and get a thing" process because they all have abilities. For example, red mages can wound other mages (except green ones), knocking opponents off that slot. Alternatively, you can "shadow" other mages to occupy the spare slot or even cast spells to gain certain benefits or maybe just launch a massive fireball that wipes out two adjacent rooms of mages. Wounded mages are sent to the infirmary and the owner gets a conciliatory bonus for each one (and can even find ways to get them back out on the main board) so it's not a total loss. Essentially, you'll be gaining new spells, treasures, supporters, mana, influence etc. in a bid to win over the most members of the judging committee, partly basing your strategy on what your opponents might be doing based on their private knowledge of the judges. It sounds like a riot but it sure looks like a table hog (and I have Firefly!) There are also all sorts of different rooms, treasures, spells and supporters (and, of course, judges) so it'll never play the same way twice. And while I'm not fond of manga-style art, the actual design and colour is real pretty and everything looks p intuitive.
Mr. GOH!
Rosewill Tyrfing mid tower case. Core i5 6600. Didn't get the 6600k because I'm fine with the stock cooler and I will never need to overclock my CPU anyway. i7 just isn't worth it to me, either. Asus Z170-P Mobo. Nothing too fancy. And 16GB of Geil RAM. I built my own combo and got all this for around $400. I just hope that my GPU is ok. No PS4 this year.

Mal
2016, the year where a good deal of us upgraded our PCs. And Goh, I have that mobo and 4x4GB of that brand of RAM (it was on sale). The only things really different is our CPU (I have the 6700k) and GPU (980ti). We could practically benchmark each other. I think the mobo lacks one or two more USB and SATA ports but otherwise it's solid. Edited November 21, 2016 by Mal
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, SATA ports were one of the reasons I picked the mobo I did: I have 4 HDDs in my computer so I need enough SATA ports for all of them. I finally got my shipping notification and it's expected to get here Wednesday. Yay!
Mr. GOH!
I try to keep myself to two active HDDs, so the SATA options don't bother me. I only need the 4. My enormous backup drive is USB 3.0. Mine should be here Friday. The point of origin is ten miles from the FedEx store where it will be delivered for pickup, which usually means swift delivery. It's nice living where everything is nearby. Edited November 21, 2016 by Mr. GOH!
Saturnine Tenshi
I upgraded mine because my mobo/CPU was shot. Good excuse for an upgrade, though. I'm hoping for some sort of HDD deal during Black Friday that isn't immediately sold out. I'm running an old 500GB drive for everything that isn't my OS and programs, and it's starting to show its age (both in capacity and R/W). Also just realized I have the same CPU as you, GOH. Just plus the "k".
TheMightyEthan
And now they've updated the delivery date to tomorrow! Mine is originating in Indianapolis, which is approximately 700 miles. Don't know how they're planning to deliver it tomorrow, but I'm not complaining. TheMightyEthan
All day it's said it's arriving today before the end of the day, and then all of a sudden at 3:23 PM, after I've gotten myself all excited and gotten everything ready to transfer over, they changed it back to arriving tomorrow. Mr. GOH!
Just picked mine up! Then I realized I have no thermal paste and no time to run out and get some. Stupid holidays.
