I've been waiting for AC Syndicate to drop below  £20, while it's hovered tantalisingly close for months. I went to Sainsbury's looking to get a LIVE GOLD subscription, as they have improved their Nectar double up offer substantially, but it wasn't included in the offer. They did have the AC game though which is pretty miraculous as the selection is rubbish at my local store. and with the offer it only cost me £10 in nectar points, and no real money at all. Result!

So, "trying out Super Mario 3D Land real quick" yesterday somehow turned into "play almost nonstop for two days straight". That game is fantastic! Anyway, so, I was looking at what other Mario games there are on 3DS and noticed there was a New Super Mario Bros. 2. I never got around to getting this one back when I owned an original DS, so I figured I might as well go back and start with it before getting the sequel.

This was a used copy on eBay. I usually hate buying used (especially on the internet) but the new ones were all pretty overpriced and it's not like this is some rare, out-of-print Atlus game or anything like that. There was a picture of the actual item and it seemed to be in pretty good condition, so whatever.

I bought DA Inquisition GOTY edition for Xbox one. I've been umming and ahhhing as I've not played the other games so I'll miss some of the finer plot/character development points, but since you couldn't bring all your old decisions over from saves anyway I don't feel too bad. I'll do the keep website thing first to see what's happened and hope that's enough. Though I did notice when I was trying to link my gamertag to my ea account that I have da origins which I didn't realise but for the sake of my sanity and my backlog I'm trying to pretend to myself that I didn't see it.

@Ethan: Hah, that's what I did with DA:O. EA really suck at reducing DLC cost over time.

@Gerbil: I missed out on DA2, so some specifics were lost on me. I'll say it kinda makes the Keep a bit confusing, at least I had context for DA:O. I never did it but I believe ME3 on PS3 came with like an in-game prequel comic for your plot points which I think would have worked better, like a super-slimmed down DA:O/DA2 plot than the contextless Keep. I like the idea n all, just implementation kinda sucks. I even picked some stuff "wrong" for the DA:O bits, but turns out you had to change some of the choice settings in keep to let you pick others, if other settings were still on default it wouldn't let you make certain choices in other settings. Was a bit of a PITA.

My only major issue with DA:I was Skyhold was pretty massive n you spend so long there, and it's a bit of a PITA to get around even with the fast travel points within. Mainly cos there's like 5(6?) storeys to it. The dessert is a bit huge too until you remember DA:I has mounts (they're mainly a bit useless)

I got it for £11 new which is cheaper than I've seen either the GOTY or vanilla version, or the dlc though I guess it's all cheaper on PC.

when I read about the keep it did sound like a way of inputting decisions you made from the previous games rather than setting up the world fresh so that makes sense now about lacking context. I'll still have a look but maybe not get too hung up on it. Kind of just want to sate my Dorian lust that's been stoked by tumblr, tbh so whatever gets me to that fastest.

Well he's new so no choices are gonna affect his storyline much. He's who I ended up going with actually, I think mainly cos Lelliana wasn't an option. He's pretty nifty in your party too. I'm trying to think what past decisions would affect tbh. I think probably mainly the War Table stuff (I know at one point you get option to track down the DA:O protag). It's a completely different character you play. Not like ME with the same Shepard throughout. Oh yeah, there's a biggy from DA2 that I imagine will impact stuff.

Ninja Camp

A sort of hand-management, spatial awareness/movement sort of game. You use cards to move your ninja peeps about the grid of action/scoring cards, picking up those up as you land on them, then using them to try and stay active for as long as possible in order to collect the most points from those cards. The cards being picked up means your movement options become rapidly reduced and as soon as you pass that's it for the round. Big game in a small box.

It also contains a deliberate Orgazmo/Hamster Style reference. Boners!

I also rebought Space Alert since my other gaming group of friends would enjoy it. Sold it for £20, bought a new copy for £20.50. Bonus is this doesn't have any box damage, contains summary cards for the missions and replaces the fiddly little plastic things with wooden cubes. Win-win!

Completely forgot these two were coming out for 3DS VC today! Super Metroid is a goddamn classic and I'm WAY overdue for a replay. And I was holding off on playing Link Between Worlds until now so that I could replay Link to the Past first.

Gotta say, even though I really dislike buying digitally with Nintendo, I really love having those SNES games on my 3DS. This is the last batch of the initial announcement, though. Hopefully they announce more soon. Super Mario RPG would be another great one to have.

edit: oh and I guess I forgot to post it but this came in today

I played the first game back when I had my original DS and loved it. It was one of the few DS games I just couldn't bring myself to sell along with my DS since I knew I'd likely get a 3DS eventually and would regret not keeping them. This is the third game, though, so I still need the second one. But it was like 10 bucks brand new on ebay, so I couldn't resist.

Yeah, I was pretty bummed out when I looked up the current state of the series. There's some mobile game called Layton 7 that they're working on but it doesn't actually feature Professor Layton I don't think there's been any news about it in a while. With that and Fantasy Life 2 also being a mobile game, it looks like Level-5 might be moving away from the 3DS altogether. :(

So, I'm unclear on the specifics here but videogamesplus.ca either ordered reprints or found some stock sitting in a warehouse or something. So, they now have a bunch of rare NDS games up for reserve. Stuff like Infinite Space, Dragon Quest Monsters Joker, etc.. Most of these games are pretty rare and new copies can cost a lot online. I was looking through the list, not really planning to get anything, and spotted this

and I just had to jump on it. The original was one of the first games I bought for my old DS and it was pretty great. It's another of those games that I just had to hold on to when I sold the system. It was one of the first DS games I looked for when I got my 3DS and I couldn't find a new copy for less than 90$. Getting it for the usual 40 bucks full price for handheld games feels like a goddamn steal by comparison.

After the last Nintendo bundle was NA only, I jumped on this  as soon as I found out about it as it's the sort of thing it would be great to see more of from Nintendo. I do own a few physically, so I may sell those and keep the digital, as I've not actually played any of them.

8-Bit Armies

A somewhat dumb down and slower version of Command and Conquer-like RTS. Bare bones campaign but with co-op missions, multiplayer and skirmish. For $15, it shouldn't hurt too much if it turns out to be bad but... wizards and shit are coming soon. Allow for some unit creation mods and this might be awesome.

Edit: It was between this and Enter the Gungeon but I think I like a RTS better.

I got it as a My Nintendo reward, so for free. I've played and liked a couple of the games in the series but not this one and all the money off vouchers were for games I already have, even the especially for you ones, so I'm not sure how well tailored they are to me personally.

Ive been selling all my physical games and buying digital and now I have a ton of games to play, shit Ive been wanting to play for over a year, and I have no idea where to start.

Bought GTA5 on PS4 and finished that though. Now I just have The Evil Within, Fallout 4, Alien Isolation, Gravity Rush Remastered and Tearaway(PS4) to get through.

Not to mention Uncharted 4 next week, which I preordered months ago(along with the season pass thing).
